# Find The Largest Number?

Sep 23, 2010

I am working on my assignment: The assignment is: The process of finding the largest value (i.e., the maximum of a group of values) is used frequently computer applications. Write a Javascript program that input a series of 10 single digit numbers as characters, determines the largest of the number and output XHTML text that displays the largest number. Your program should use 3 variables as follows:

a.) COUNTER: A counter to count to 10 (i.e. to keep track of how many number have been input and to determine when all 10 number have been processed). b.) NUMBER: The current digit input to the program.

c.) LARGEST: The largest number found so far.

Below is my code so far:

Jun 12, 2010

var c3 = 2;
var c4 = 0;
var c5 = 0;

## Find And Replace A Number

Feb 12, 2011

When I find a record such as this in a textarea:

[Code]....

There will be from 1 to 4 Pts, if one is missing there will not be a next one. My problem is I replace the first occurrence of any number I find and for certain factors (2 in this case) it could change an already converted number and leave other fields in the record alone. I could split the line on commas to change the first number I find but can't be certain if there are no other commas elsewhere on the line.

## How To Find / Calculate Average Number

Feb 1, 2010

I need to find the average number in javascript. It is the only bit of javascript that I have to do in the course but it carries a high mark of which I cannot afford to lose. Any way the question is : "Write code to calculate the average height and write it out in the browser window"

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE = "JavaScript">
//Experimental results of Table 1 stored in arrays.
var Height = [15,16,17,18,19];
var Number = [2,1,6,4,2];

//Part (ii).
//Write code to declare and initialise new array to represent the third row of the table.
var avg = new Array(5)
var avg = ["60","80","187","180","114"] ;
avg[0] = "60";
avg[1] = "80";
avg[2] = "187";
avg[3] = "180";
avg[4] = "114";
//Part (iv).
//Write code to calculate the average height and write it out in the browser window.
avg = 0;
for (var count = 1; count <= 5; count = count + 1)
Array.average = function(){
var avg = 0;
for(var a = 0; a < this.length; a++){
avg += this[a];
} return avg / this.length;
};

document.write('average height is ' +avg + '<br>');

The user must accept the cost by pressing the confirm button, and if user cancels do not submit data.I have written this code but cannot figure out how to find the number of days from the 2 date fields and use that to calculate and display the total cost.

//confirm submit and display rental cost
var equip = document.forms[0].equipment.value
var pDate = document.forms[0].pickupDate.value[code].....

## Finding Two Or More Matching Largest Values In An Array?

Jul 10, 2010

I am currently writing a program to analyse (to a degree), the points scored in a dance contest. The program mainly works so far. However I am struggling to conclude the program end. Using an if statement, I would like to compute if a dance-off is required, looping through the combinedPointsArray and determining if 2 or more numbers hold the higest score and are equal.The aim is to provide:

Maximum number of combined points

The couples and their combined points

The couples names with the highest points

If two or more couples have equal highest combined points - output whether a dance-off is required.

This is my program so far:

## JQuery :: Auto-resize All Div Height To Fit Text The The Largest Text?

Mar 26, 2010

I currently have multiple combos ofimage with a description text below it.I want to lay them out inrowsand inline. So if the width of page is not enough the next one should startbeginning of next row. Each image and text is currently house by a div with float left and a set width, but if you look at the attached screenshot (1.jpg), The Oracle - eBusiness Suite gets stuck because of the differentsheight due to text size and if I set a height too, then some of the text gets covered up (2.jpg). I was thinking if I can maybe use J Query to automatically adjust height to divs on the same rowto fit the biggest text size on that row?Evenjust changing all divs to that heightbe would be ok if it'seasier.

## Number / Category Association - Automatically Default Correctly When Put In Just The Number

Jun 16, 2011

When updating our agency's webpage daily, [URL] I am looking for a shortcut to save time.. When I update air quality numbers. I have to put the conditions. Ex.. 50 = good 100= moderate etc etc. As you see here(bold and underlined)

[Code]...

Well instead of having to type good or moderate every-time to correlate with the numbers, I want to find a way the category can automatically default correctly when I put in just the number. Ex, if I put in the number 100, it automatically knows to issue/ put Moderate with out me having to type it. I semi wrote a code .. Yet can't seem to know how to execute. Seeing if Maybe I can get some assistance.

## Coding For Textbox - Automatically Change The Number To The Maximum Number

## Number.toFixed() Does It Convert Number Into String?

Jul 7, 2011

When I used toFixed() method on a number, I thought that this method round a number to a specified approximation, but I got a surprising result, the number became string! 15.23689.toFixed(2) ==> "15.24". So does it convert the number into string?

## Script For Counting A Number - Want Down To Another Number That Resets?

Nov 28, 2011

I am trying to figure out how to make a random number I can plug into a script count down from that number at certain times of the day until it reaches 0. I would like it to reset itself at midnight every day. I'm trying to make it work with a script I found on here that resets itself at midnight every day. So instead of it counting down too fast, it would count down to the next number after a randomly generated number of minutes until it reaches 0. But it wouldn't necessarily have to end at 0 at midnight. It could go from 845 to 323 at the end of the day at a slower pace. Is that possible?
