I have a couple of radio buttons that hide and reveal DIV tags. Here is what I'm trying to do:
1) radioBTN1 is clicked it reveals DIV1 with multiple text boxes in it
2) radioBTN2 is clicked it reveals DIV2 below DIV1 with multiple text boxes in it
3) the user fills in the text boxes in the DIV2
4) user changes mind and clicks radioBTN1 again to hide DIV2
5) when DIV2 is hidden it resets and clears all previous information
i have a multiple page form where on one page i ask my user to enter a number into a textbox. i would like to know how to get some textboxes to appear on the next page in relation to the number they enter on the first page. i.e. if they enter 10 in the first text box, 10 textboxes appear on the next page for them to enter data into and then press next to go onto the following page.
I've a page where I'm calling record from Database. Each record has an ID and a text box displayed on the page. When the user fills in the values of a text box, depending on the values of the text box i've to do some further work. For eg. I've to add two records if the textbox value of 2 records is same.
I'll try to create an example here <-----this is from the DB-------> <-----this is form field---> ID Task Hrs text box 1 adsfsd 1 a <---- user fills this 2 asdf 1.5 b <---- user fills this 3 eyst 2 a <---- user fills this 4 dghjfghj 2 c <---- user fills this 5 xdfb 1 b <---- user fills this 6 tyety 1.5 c <---- user fills this ________ | Submit | --------------
So the user has to add hrs of those boxes for which have same values entered by user. such as adding hrs of record 1 and 3 since both have "a" entered by the user, adding record 2 and 5, as both have "b" entered by the user and so on and so forth.
I am trying to simulate a simple checkout page where a user inputs the quantity of merchandise that they want in multiple text boxes. When they click "calculate" it calculates the subtotal, tax, and total. As it stands my calculate function works if I do quantity * price for each text box and then add together. I would have to do this 9 times! :eek: I would like to use an array but I am not exactly sure how to use it to do calculations. I know I need a loop (which I have written) and an array (which is written also).
I'm primarily a database programmer (Mysql and PHP) but I have some Javascript programming and I have been programming in other languages for over 25 years.
On to my problem:
I'm trying the create a function in Javascript which will take a variable from three different text boxes and show the net result in a fourth text box that is ReadOnly. This is all on the same page. All three text boxes have other Javascript scripts formatting the value in the text boxes.
Below is the code I use to populate a textboxes (compaddress) when I select the compname from the dropdown. I would like to be able to populate other textboxes such as the compdescription, compmaincontact and others when I select the compname from the dropdown. I think that I need an array but I really would like some advice on how to do it as all of my attempts have failed so far
I'm trying to search for the correct code to make my form work. I have 3 select boxes - one with 2 options, one with 8 options, and the last with 2 options... All of this adds up to 32 different url paths. Can anyone tell me how to get this done?This is what I have so far: (and yea, I know I suck... I honestly have absolutely NO clue)
I have a function that parses xml data to a <ul>. What I need to know is how to clear the <ul> before parsing a second time to refresh the list.my current script looks like this:
I have popup window and I want when I press on "Clear" table content clear. I used document.writeln to write into the popup window. See the pic: [URL].
I have 4 images on a page and when someone clicks on one of them I open a secondary window and write a few lines to it describing the image.
If they don't close that secondary window however, and click on another of these 4 images, my write commands print further down on that secondary window.
I was reading through an old javascript book that talks about the win1.document.clear(); method, but information on the Internet tells me that this is now obsolete, or was just working on Netscape.
So then I decided to close the secondary window before re-opening it. But if the user _did_ close the secondary window, I get an error saying that the window I'm trying to close is already closed (or doesn't exist to be exact)!
Is there a way to clear the document in a window that I opened and wrote to? Or is there a way to detect if win1 exists or not? If it exists, I would close it. If it didn't exist, I would just re-open a new one.
I have a form setup so that selecting a radio button opens a specific text field. The problem is if the user starts to enter information, then switches to a different radio button (perhaps they chose the wrong radio to start), the text they already started to enter on the previous textfield doesn't get cleared. This will be a problem later when inserting to sql.
I posted a thread a few days ago concerning a bit of javascript code to make checking one checkbox clear another one. I got some great, prompt help. However, I just got back to working on that web page, and realized that the functions only work on the first form on my web page. I have many forms and they are actively named using php.
Here's are the functions (these works for just the first form on the page):
<script type="text/javascript"> function undo_Changes() { if (document.getElementById("Complete").checked==true) { document.getElementById("Needs_Change").checked=false;
After passing values, I cleared the form to start over and tried passing a new value but the previous values return with the new value. I hope that makes sense. Here's the code:
I used on of the examples in SitePoint's new book jQuery: Novice to Ninja, and implemented it in a site I'm working on. I hide sections of the content, and expand them when clicked on (www.symboticware.com/projects/)
Is there a way I can make it so that when you click on one of the projects, your browsers scrolls down as much as possible, so that it is the focus in your browser. Much like using an anchor link, but with jQuery?
a user types in his email, and clicks submit he is then taken to the thank you page. he clicks back and his email is still there.
I want the email not to be there. I can change the value of the text field onload but this doesnt work when you click back only when the page is reloaded. i can change the value on submit but this is wrong because then the wrong value is submitted.
The javascript below works perfectly using Firefox, but not Opera or IE.I have a button which I would like to clear the text in the input field with.The "onFocus" on the input field works fine in all browsers, but when clicking the "cross.gif"-button, it only works in Firefox.javascript:
I am trying to get/set only text of list only element text value. But for some reason I can not select it in clear way. List something like:
<ul> <li id="myid"> Here text that I want to modify <ul> <li id="dfdf">i don't want modify this</li> <li id="dfdf">i don't want modify this</li> [Code]...
I have some code to open 1 dialog box. Could someone please help me manipulate this code to open multiple boxes with different contents. I would like to do this with out duplicating the existing code, maybe setting a variable. The least amount of code the better.

I have a script which allows me to select random users from one select field to another and works like a charm, but...I want to be able to get random users from one select field to multiple (lets say 2) other select fields...So lets say that I have 5 users in the first field (select1):
James Bill Jennifer Bob Karen
Now when I press a button: <input value="" type="button" onClick="randomusers();" />
2 users should be moved to select2 and other 2 users moved to select3.My current script is as follows:
function randomusers(){ var given = 2, used = {}, randnum, opts = $('#select1 option'), olen = opts.length, hiddiv = $('#hiddendiv'); function ran() { // generate a unique random number[code].....
I have developed an application in PHP.The user will find the list of experts and this code is generated based on the experts data in database.. It is working fine..
The users selects the expert according to his wish ( checks using check box provided before the expert and there is no restriction in selecting experts) .
Now he enters the question, he needs the reply and then he clicks on submit button.An email must be sent to the expert I need the javascript to find whether the USER CHECKED the Check boxes or NOT.
I'm populating a couple of dropdown boxes from an xml file, but can't get them working independently. As you can seehtmwhen you select an item from the first select box (a polyline), itdisplays the corresponding item from the other box (a polygon), too.I found this answer on the google maps forum:"Don't know of an example, but building two select boxes isn'tdifficult: pass into your createMarker() function the relevant flag,and add the data to one of two variables (instead of everything beingadded to select_html as now).You shouldn't need two handleSelected() functions -- both select listscan use the same function because each select box passes itself("this") into the function."which is what I thought I did (making sel_html and select_html) butmaybe the two variables being discussed here are different ones?cross-posted on the google maps forum here and here but not answered.
how to add up a series of text boxes which contain numbers that a user will input and have the total of those text boxes show up in a quantity text box on the next page.
Not sure if i should use javascript or php, but i don't know how to do it either
