Xmlhttpreq Calling To Original Id (object?)

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding how to get my targeting working in IE. Let's say I have a <div id="test"> </div> with some form information in between. I use xmlhttpreq to process but I want the information after processing to appear inside the test div. I have it working perfectly with firefox but for the life of me I just can't get it to work with IE. I can only ouput to another DOM object.innerHTML and not the original.

I want to send xml data to servlet using xmlhttprequest object from a pure HTML Page.I have written some code but it is not working.One strange thing if I copy the same code in jsp & then run it , it is calling servlet from javascript & sending the xml data to it.

I use xmlhttpreq object to add data to the current html file.
It will add to a specifiy place, like after a tag or before a tag
And if it adds too many data after that tag, the whole page will become
big and need to scroll down to see the latest added data
how to let it scroll down automatically without any annoying scrolling
down?
One way I can use is to use a anchor which is at the bottom of that
page and after i put my data into the textbox and click the link( which
is linked to proper file to process the data but also point to the
anchor) the page will show from the bottom. but the whole page will
first jump up a little space then jump down.

The code below is jquery, and uses jquery's extend() [URL] function, but I don't think that the issue has anything to do with that... does it?

By my reasoning, obj1 shouldn't have location set. But it does. Is the line
var obj2 = obj1;
not making a copy of the original and leaving the original intact? Is it instead making some sort of reference to it? Why is changing the copy having an effect on the original??

I'm using window.open and as soon as I click on the link to open the new window, my original page content is replaced with '[object]'.

When i change the country from the dropdown box i get an error "hometown.setCities is not a function" but the thing is that i can call this in other ways eg from the address bar (javascript:hometown.setCities()) and it works perfectly.

I am trying to call a ActiveX object from JSP using the ActiveXObject method in javascript. I have a dll filed named Patchgenerator.dll which is registered and assigned a prog id "Patchgenerator.PatchGen.1" which is being passed as an argument to the ActiveXObject method. I'm trying to make a quick and dirty mp3 player that plays whatever mp3 is in the URL, for example [url] would open the SWF mp3 player (I chose this one for its simplicity[url]) and play that song. I am using this Browser Plugin call: world = new MTSPlugin( '../obj/main.mtx', '100%', '100%', '', 'simple', ''); in the middle of my page, where I want to load this object. (It is a 3d rendering modul Viewpoint Player)
Now I want to add a browser check, as this plugin runs only in IE. When I dedect that the page is loaded with IE, I am writing via Jquery a class name into my body tag.
I thought, it would work if I do the following:
if($('body').attr('class').length > 1){
world = new MTSPlugin( '../obj/main.mtx', '100%', '100%', '', 'simple', '');
}
But for some reason, the if fails, as it seem that the plugin is called earlier than the jquery browser check, so the class name is not set at this point.
Then I thought, making a function arround and call it onLoad within the body tag.
Which has the disatvantage that the MTS Plugin is loading at the worng place on the page.
What I want, is that the call to the object "world = new MTSPlugin( '../obj/main.mtx', '100%', '100%', '', 'simple', '');"
is only at a trie condition at the place where it should be...

My site has a widget that runs by calling an external script on a server outside my control. Normally this runs within a div as the page loads and the widget is displayed within the div.
What I am trying to do is call the script AFTER the page loads rather than while it loads. To do this, I am adding the script to the DOM (in the div I want, not to the head) on window.onload. An alert shows that the script is being created in the div.
The problem is that the script does not appear to fire in IE6 and IE7. In Firefox it runs, but rather than adding the widget to the div, it creates a new page (everything else on the page is lost).
I have made a test page to show the problem, as well as another page showing how the widget normally loads when the called while the page is loading. Code:

I have a form button with id="submit". When pressed, ClickGeocode(credentials) is called. This works fine and dandy with: $('submit").click(ClickGeocode) Despite there being no indication that the function takes an argument 'credentials'. So when I want to call the function at some point in my code, I should be able to do something like ClickGeocode(credentials) ... no? However, my issue is that credentials isn't once defined in my code - it is part of Bing Maps function... like so:
function ClickGeocode(credentials)
{
map.getCredentials(MakeGeocodeRequest);
}
So why does it work using .click(), and how can I call the function without user interaction (simply somewhere in my code) even if 'credentials' is not defined?

I have a site with frames. Like most sites with frames, clicking
links in one frame changes the page in the other frame.
Obviously, if someone puts in the URL for my site, they will get the
"homepage" when they first get there. What I would like to accomplish
is that if they leave my site, and then use the BACK button to come
back, that the site will open with the homepage, not whatever page
they were at when they left. Is that possible using javascript? If
so, how?
My site isn't actually "on the web" yet, so I can't give you a URL.

I have written a script that highlights a table row when the appropriate checkbox is checked. Using element.style is a bit messy and doesn't really fulfil my needs..
I want to just be able to use className, but when I uncheck a row I am having difficulty restoring the original (when the page loaded)className, I need to do this because the rows have different styles Is their any other way to access the original className of an element?

I have a regular html page called a.html
this page opens a modal dialog window called modal1.html
modal1.html contains a 'Next' button.
when the button is pressed the modal1.html is replaced with modal2.html
modal2.html contains another button.
when its button is pressed, the modal dialog window should close and the location of the original page a.html should change.
I am trying to do something like:
//window.parent.location.href = 'anotherPage.html'
window.opener.location.href = 'anotherPage.html'
window.close();
I cannot use window.opener in modal2.html because its opener is actually modal1.html.
In fact anotherPage.html is opened in a whole new browser page
How can I refer to a.html in this chain?

This is probably a very easy one for somebody. It's like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"; if you know the answer it's easy. But I don't.I disabled an event listener with: document.getElementById("thumb_link"+ tagName).onmouseover=function(){null};So what's the opposite? How do I re-start the original mouseover function please? Oh and yes I have Googled it for hours.
