Small Popup Window For With No Titlebar Or Borders In IE 6+?
Nov 11, 2006
I'm trying this and it has no titlebar, but shows the calendar on a full page.
<a
href="javascript:calendar_window=window.open('cal.aspx?f ormname=aspnetForm.<%=
ChargeFormView.FindControl("StartDate_date").ClientID
%>','calendar_window','width=180,height=130,left=500 ,top=300,titlebar=no,fullscreen=yes');calendar_win dow.focus()">
If I remove fullscreen=yes, I get a nice small window but with a titlebar.

Can a window be opened without a titlebar? Can an alert message box be opened without a titlebar and an OK button?
I'm trying to display something like a tooltip when the onclick event occurs.

I'm about to start a project where the application is one used on a publicly accessed machine. It could be like, say, a ticket purchasing application in a kiosk machine; or maybe touch-screen app that tells grocery shoppers which aisle has coffee, etc.
So my question is, can javascript (or some other language?) be used to open a window without any controls (toolbars, menubars, titlebars, frame, etc) so that the user can't close the application (or resize, change, etc.)?

I would like to find a small calendar that I can use to allow people to choose a date. I am planning on placing a small icon to the right of my date fields to allow people to choose the date from a calendar. It doesn't need to be full sized. I'm using ASP for scripting, but a control is an option (com or activex).

What I am kooking for is not really a pop-up but more like a tool-tip. I was not sure what else to call it. What I need is a small little area with a different background color and perhaps a border to open next to a word when the symbol next to it is clicked on. This word or phrase would be in a sentence that would require some further explanation or definition.
I guess this would be similar to how someone like iStock Photo does with their thumbnails only it will require a click as opposed to a rollover and it will not be an image, just some text.

I'm trying to open an email window with 200+ emails this way...
window.open('mailto:'+allList+'');
'allList' contains: xxxxx@yyyy.com; xxxxxx1@yyyy.com; and ect....
When the list consists of a few emails it works, when the list is large, I get "The data area passed to a system call is too small" error.
I guess I can make a huge mailto hyperlink, but I think that would look horrible. If anybody has an idea please help me out.

So I wish to be able to click on a small thumbnail (small_tn1.jpeg) and a bigger picture pops out in a new window. (big_tn1.jpeg).I have looked at lightbox-versions but they are to complex with code.I want to use one function openBig() to be able to use on all my pictures on the site. So all my pictures will be named; small_tn1.jpeg, big_tn1.jpeg, small_tn2.jpeg, big_tn2.jpeg...I haven't found any that full fill my request. The closest code I found is for only a single-image. http://www.pcurtis.com/popup_advanced.htm*It's a school assignment, so I can not use jQuery or target="_blank"*

I found this forum while running out of ideas and being extremely desperate to fixing a probably small javascript error in a script. the script is supposed to open a small form window that allows the user to input an email address and update it to proceed. the form item is initially unchecked, but as the user clicks it and enter his email address, it updates the value of the email address and the box becomes "checkable". the problem is that with both IE and firefox, the box doesn't close again, doesn't get checkable and basically doesn't work. in the firefox debugging console, I found the following error:

The part responsible in the javascript for this section is:

And the html code that is supposed to pop up the box is:

I am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work

from my main window. I would like them to always stay in front of the parent
window until they are shut down with there own close buttons. As it is, when
you click back to the parent window, of course it comes in front of the
child windows. Can I do this?

I have the params in an input box and need to get the val of the box into a param and pass it to the new popup window. All pages are local and in the same folder. I am trying to insert the value of a variable gathered from a popup window as an option in a <select> menu on the main window. This is the code I have so far:
Code:
var newOption = document.createElement("option");
newOption.value = '<?=$userfile_name?>'
newOption.appendChild(document.createTextNode('<?=$userfile_name?>'));
select.insert(newOption);
How do I do the rest? I just want to add this new value to the end of the list.

I need the most efficient way of passing a variable from a parent window to a popup window.The reason i say "most efficient" is because i currently do it like this from the parent:[code]But this is inefficient because at times it randomly alerts "undefinded".Anyways, can someone tell me a more fail safe way to pass a var to a popup so that i will be able to access it 100% correctly.
