View 2 RepliesThrough window.open or window.showmodaldialog, I want to open a word
or excel document in Print Preview mode. Bcos I don't want the user to
make any changes or save it but the user can ONLY VIEW OR take a print
out.
I want to make it so that when I click on something, it changes what document.onclick does.
This is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do:
Code:
<div id="clickme" onclick="document.onclick = function(){ alert ('This should not be alerted on the first click'); }">Click here</div>
However, as you'll notice, the alert box shows up on the first click as well. The only way I have been able to get around this behaviour is to have the first onclick execute a timer that will then set the document.onclick after 1ms, however this seems very messy to me.
What I have is a link 'What is this?' and I want, when clicked upon, for an alert box to popup. I should be able to specify the text contained in the alert box, and for there to just be one button, an 'OK' button. I'm sure this is quite easy, I'm guessing it's something to do with onclick= but I'm not sure about these things. Please could someone point me in the right direction as to what I could do here?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am getting stuck with an onClick function. I test for matching 'id's in the html document and when I have a match I want to attach the onClick function. In firebug I can see the match in the if statement is fine, the onClick function is attached to the element and I can watch it stay there through to the end of debug session. But when I click on the element.
Code:
I am trying to do a simple echo onclick, but despite what I try to do, it shows no errors, but won't work. I've tried things like:
echo "<div onclick="alert('test');">t</div>";
echo '<div onclick="alert('test');">t</div>';
But just can't seem to get it to work right. I'm trying to do this on a script that is being eval on the ajax request. Thus I'm having problems placing the ',", marks.

In my case, I want that it's Openoffice open my file.
Do you konw the property of <a href> that I supposed to use or the
method to realize this??
Do you have a alternate method to accomplish this??
var b= "<form action='remove.php' method='post' ><?php include('connect.php');$selectlist = mysql_query
This is used as an onclick event.
However instead of running the php it writes some of it to the file.
Also the document is always loading after onclick.
I have a pdf document toolkit.pdf (202.81K)Number of downloads: 81 that serves as a home page or table of contents for reference materials. This is NOT a web-based document. We use this as a reference tool in a face-to-face classroom setting. Each item on the list or table of contents is a button that the user clicks on to see a dropdown menu of reference documents. Javascript is used to execute the individual documents in the dropdown menus. I am trying to get a document sfract.pdf (112.5K)Number of downloads: 72 in the dropdown menu to open at a certain page. I don't want to set this at the document level, because we have several references that open the same document at different pages.
The javascript is:
if (cChoice=="Boating Infrastructure Grant Program")
var otherDoc = app.openDoc
("sfract.pdf", this);
else
How can I get the document to open "sfract.pdf" to a certain page (like page 30)? I have attached the home page/table of contents (toolkit.pdf) and the document I want to open to a certain page (sfract.pdf).
The Wink toolkit [url] has a JS Coverflow implementation, which works in the Safari browser. I'm trying to change the code that produces an alert to code that brings up an HTML page, but it's not working. Two lines follow, the first is the original code. The second is the modified code - the HTML page it's to open is in the same folder as the HTML page that contains this code. ("fbItem" merely describes the display colors in CSS.) The alert works fine when clicking. But clicking on the second line shows no change.

It works fine in Firefox, chrome and safari but not on IE. I got a run time error Object doesn't support this property or method. I check the line number and the code is this document.getElementById('premiumoverlay').onclick();
I'm trying to pass the URL of a link to a function, then delay opening the window. I get an undefined error. Here is my code:

I am trying to get tooltip for each portion on a location map. Using the below code I am getting the tool tip for as many portions I want. But the next step is I need to give link in each tooltip and it should open another which has more information. It should not be manually divs, divs should just come how my tooltips are coming (using variables).
<script src="[URL]"></script>
<style> body {
text-align: center;
font: 13px Arial,Helvetica;
}
/* Relative positioning*/
#wrapper {
position: relative;
margin: 10px auto 20px auto;
border: 1px solid #fafafa;
-moz-box-shadow: 0 3px 3px rgba(0,0,0,.5);
-webkit-box-shadow: 0 3px 3px rgba(0,0,0,.5);
box-shadow: 0 3px 3px rgba(0,0,0,.5);
}
/* Hide the original tooltips contents */ .....
I have a code like this to swop images in a menu:
Code:
<a href="javascript:staySet('btn-contact')""><img border="0" src='../images/btns-menu/btn-contact.png' id='btn-contact' onmouseover="SwapImage('btn-contact')" onmouseout="SwapImage('btn-contact')" alt='''.>
I need to create a onClick event which tells te link to open a html file <blabla.html> into a frameset name.
I am trying to tackle this problem: when I click on a link, the link show take me to another page and populate certain items (on the new page) in a form, such as a textbox and dropdown. I figured out how to populate the form using getElementById but I'm not sure how to open a link in the same window and bring those items to the new page. Below is the code I have so far:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html>
<head>

The a href used to equal # previously as a test to make sure the function works (thats why I have the textbox on this page as well.The other page has the following code:
Code:
<form name="test"> <input id="info" type="text" /> </form>
I am calling the dialog box from a form.The dialog opens another form.I need to send the dialog box parameter of values being captured on the first form.Because the dialog box is being called on: document.ready, I can't get the values being capture on the first form.document.getElementById is empty since on document.ready, the user didn't capture anything yet.Is there a way to call the dialog box on: onClick and not on document.ready?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere's my problem code:
document.onclick=handler;
function handler(e) {
//do stuff
var params = "something";
var request = new XMLHttpRequest();
request.open("GET", "http://www.foo.com/bar.php?" + params, true);
[Code]....
Now is user clicks something else but not a link everything works just fine. But if she clicks a link, the bar.php call does not work (never comes to the server). If I change the call to a synchronuous one request.open("GET", [URL] false) also clicking a link works fine. But I would of course prefer the async way.
I want to know that how can I achieve overlay and shadow box when I click some button or link. I was trying to search, but I don't know to locate.

View 5 Replies View Relatedis there any way to get this AJAX to be called on a button click? I know how to use buttons to call JS functions but I'm not sure where to add the open and closing parentheses with this AJAX...I've tried encasing different parts, but to no avail.So guessing I have to do something different here? I'm not sure, really new to this.And yes I've tried searching, again it's very specific and a bit vague.

Is this how it's done? IE 6.0 after opening bigger.html in a new page,
then shows the site directory contens in the main window. ?!

page I define a function 'open_popup' and call it for all the product
images, in case the customer wants a bigger pictures.
function open_popup(page) {
window.open(page,'Larger_Image','width=400,height= 300,resizable=yes,toolbar=no,statusbar=no,scrollba rs=no');
}

<a href="" onclick="return open_popup('bigger.html')">

Any advice? If this is a really bad thing to do then what's
reommended?
Using onclick=window.open function in js to open a pdf file link in a new popup window. Works fine to display the file onscreen, but not if the user wants to save the file client-side to their computer. The right-hand-button context menu for the mouse will allow the user to download, but the file saved will be a html dump file for the webpage and the name of the file will be that for the webpage. Of course I can use the easy <a href> method for download links and the mouse context menu options will be as expected, but I can only use target="-blank" or target="_self". I need a popup window to open.
Could use :
oncontextmenu="alert('Left click the link to open, and then SAVE from with the pdf viewer')
to advise users how to save the file, and could use:
"javascript: void(0)"
To eliminate most mouse context menu options, so the user won't bother try. So how can I get a link to a file which can be viewed in a popup window and downloaded using mouse right-hand context menu?
Firstly I know this issue has been addresses a lot already but as a newbie to HTML and Web Development I am unable to get the idea. according to documentations and solutions proposed on different forums a popup or child window can be only closed using window.close() if it is opened via window.open() function.
