View 5 Replies View RelatedI got some divs with IDs which I position via css in an external file.So I got something like this on the html-site:
<div id="i1" onclick="move(1)"></div>
In the css-sheet there ist something like this:
#i1 {position:absolute; left:193; top:47; height: 20; width: 20; background-color: #369e1c;}
Everything is positioned as I want it, but I want to read out the position of the div (to position something else), but getElementById somehow doesn't work. It all worked well, when the css was directly in the page, but it won't if it's in an external file.Basically I do something like this:
function move(where){
var ids = "i" + where;
var newtop = document.getElementById(ids).style.left;[code].....
I am working on a simple tool for my office.We have a very huge database with 5000 tables. All the tables, Columns and their attributes are stored in to excel sheet.
Tool I am designing is for mapping between front end and back end values. Now I will use an image (front end screen of our application) , when user clicks it, I need the HTML to access the excel sheet and display the back end field,the name of tables it can be found in and other data related to that field
Simply,I want to pull data from excel and display them differently for each different click. I want to pass the parameter on click and filter a column in excel with it and display the entire set of sheet with this criteria. Is this possible? or am I expecting too much
I have a script that i need to read the ip from a visitor and set a cookie, so the script will never be executed again for that particular ip address.
Right now i'm having problems with the current cookie set of my script, i can't seem to make it not appear again after it's executed (which is my goal). That's why i want to try using an IP cookie, and see if that works.
Basically am going to make an search script to my website. I am going to use onkeyup event when the user is writing and my problem is that I wont to make a function that takes in input from the user and put it in the url. So I need to be able to write and read from the url without refreshing the page. I've managed to do this using window.location.search but I cant get it to work because the page keeps refreshing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a standard javascript that I downloaded from
javascriptsource.com to read from and fill in a form using cookies.
The page tests well in every browser except Apple's Safari (from
10.3.2)
Unfortunately, my clients daughter uses Safari so I have to get it to
work with it, even though most of his clients use IE.
What do I need to do to change the code so this will all work in
Safari? Code:
Can we read/write text files using jQery?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have now learned how to write to and read from .txt files on my server via php, but is it possible to do this with JavaScript? Like that JavaScript writes to the .txt file every second without needing the user to refresh the page to write or read .txt file (with php). 2: Do the same thing with ActionScript 2/3.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way I can read my address bar and write the link to a file. I think it is great that websites post the code I need but the cut and paste thing gets to be a drag. If I am using my browser I am not editing my site. I need a way to save from the http and com. are maybe the part between the two dots.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't find any javascript that reads and writes cookies with keys,
so that it is compatible with ASP (I want to read and write cookies
from both javascript and ASP)
for example in ASP:
<%
Response.Cookies("user")("firstname")="John"
Response.Cookies("user")("lastname")="Smith"
Response.Cookies("user")("country")="Norway"
Response.Cookies("user")("age")="25"
%>
I'm looking for javascript code that can read that information.
I was wondering if there was a way to dynamically read a field input and respond to it later in the form. My situation is this: I have a question that asks how many workers are employed at a business. Later in the form, the user is asked to add as many workers as they have (section with information on each worker) ..Is there a way I can have something echoed or document.write above the latter section saying "Please add (Number of workers listed above) sections for each worker employed"
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm opening an excel worksheet and adding data to it using Javascript ActiveX Excel Object as below
var Excel,Book;
Excel = new ActiveXObject("Excel.Application");
Book = Excel.Workbooks.Open("c:/example.xls");
var excel_sheet = Book.Worksheets("Sheet1");
[code]....
In the above code the column A in excel worksheet will have a unique value.I need to delete the entire row matching the value in column A and shift the rest of the rows up using this Javascript ActiveX Excel Object.
I am totally new to jQuery and no good knowledge on javascript. However, I was assigned a task, to convert a javascript program to jQuery due to compatibility problem on browsers like Chrome and Safari. My program originally use javascript xmlDoc.load('....') to read XML file, and then use document.write statement to write html tables on client side. Something like this (the sample below may got lots of syntax problem as I jut want to show the major part):
Code:
document.write('<TABLE >');
var y=x[0].getElementsByTagName('NoOfRows');
for (i=0; i<=noofrows-1 && i<=y.length-1; i++){
document.write(' <TD>');
document.write(z[j].getElementsByTagName('RecordDetails')[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue;
}
Now I changed to use jQuery, I can read the XML file elements. However, when I try to write the table, it failed:

Why doesn't this work? The input field doesn't show up at all. I know I'm just missing something really simple here.
<script type="text/javascript">
day = day.getDay()+1;
month = day.getMonth()+1;
year = day.getYear();
newdate= month + '/' + day + '/' + year;
document.write('<INPUT name=Date value='+ newdate + '>');
</script>
I have a client that has ads on her website that really slow down the site. These ads are called by an off site javascript file and I want to use a jQuery(document).ready or similar method to call these files after all of the site content has loaded. But these files contain document.write functions to add more javascript files. Since I want to load the files after everything else has loaded, this in turn makes the page blank and then loads the ad. Is there a way to position where document.write will write to?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use document.getElementsByTagName('style')[0].sheet in Firefox or Opera, it returns the CSSStyleSheet object. However, IE6 returns nothing. So I was wondering if there's a property in IE that works the same as the .sheet property.
var stylesheet = document.getElementsByTagName('style')[0].sheet;
alert(stylesheet.cssRules.length); // 34
I'm writing a reusable JavaScript library which needs to set certain styles in a document. The document may have an existing stylesheet definition either by a link or by an existing stylesheet declaration in the documents head section.
How can I use JavaScript to append my own style sheet information to a possibly already existing stylesheet definition?
I'm new to JavaScript, I just finished some basic things, like getAttribute, setAttribute, getElementByID etc. I understand that inline javascript isn't the best way to go, and all the JavaScript should go on an external JS file. I also know that you should be able to downgrade gracefully, allowing people whose browser do not/blocked javascript to still use the site. So I just want to do a simple go back function in an external javascript, however it's not exactly working.

Is it possible to do something like this: On a site there is a link that says "Darken Page".Upon clicking the link, the background color turns black.The link then changes to "Brighten things up"So just a style sheet switcher, but with one link and changes
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems it's impossible to get a css style position from an external style sheet with JS, no?
<p id="testParagraph"></p>
if external css was:
p {
position: relative;
left: 20px;
}
apparently js cannot get
document.getElementById("testParagraph").style.left;
It seems it must be set as an inline css in the html or set by js explicitly in order to return the value. I don't get WHY it doesn't work.
how can i use javascript to detect the current date to select css style
sheet so that the color style of the site is different every day like
wired dot c0m?
I'm trying to use client side JavaScript from an HTML file to open
and make changes to an Excel SpreadSheet using ADO w/ ODBC. What a
pain it is to do this. Anyways, I am able to open the excel file but I
don't know how to use ADO to work with it's contents. So far I have
the following code that works:
<html>
<script>
window.onload = function () {
var ExcelSheet;
var sConnect = "DRIVER={Microsoft Excel Driver
(*.xls)};DBQ=P:js-test.xls"
ExcelSheet = new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Connection");
ExcelSheet.Open(sConnect);
}
</script>
<body> =) </body>
</html>
Now that I have the sheet open, how do I manipulate it?
I have a script that works perfectly on a live site that basically has a menu that reveals a hidden DIV and when you click a link, and then when you click a new link it hides the previous div and reaveals the new one. It is as follows:
Javascript Code:
Original - javascript Code
LastLayer = "nothing"; // the first div/layer
function openObject(theLayer){
// pass the name of the layer you want to bring to the top
// Then hide the last layer, and make the layer passed visible. This could have been done using the z-index property
if (document.getElementById) { // if it's IE5 or NS6 use this syntax to access the visiblity attribute
eval("document.getElementById(LastLayer).style.visibility = 'hidden'")
eval("document.getElementById(theLayer).style.visibility = 'visible'")
LastLayer = theLayer;
}
if(document.layers) { // if it's NS4 use this syntax to access the visiblity attribute
eval('document.layers[LastLayer].visibility = "hidden"')
eval('document.layers[theLayer].visibility = "visible"')
LastLayer = theLayer;
} .....
Now I am redesigning the site to work with a new style sheet, (There wasn't one before, it was all inline styles. Anyway, it broke my script. The CSS has a class that gives certain DIV's visibility attribute the 'hidden' value by default. I was planning on using the above script to reveal/hide them, but it does nothing. Here is the CSS that affects the divs I am referring to.
CSS Code:
Original - css Code
.job {
border: thin solid #000000;
float: right;
margin-right: 25px;
padding-left: 10px;
width: 40%;
display: none;
}
.job { border: thin solid #000000; float: right; margin-right: 25px; padding-left: 10px; width: 40%; display: none;}
As you can see there is nothing fancy in the css that would cause any concern.
