Nov 12, 2005I have a little help page that I open as a popup. Is there a way I can place anchors on the help page and based on the link the user clicks the help page will display that section?

Open A Page/popup After Closing One?
Aug 21, 2009How could I open a page/popup after closing one? The objective is to log the user out if they haven't Logged out or clicked Logout.
I am sure there is a simple way to do this. None of my ideas work.
The only answer I could come with (after testing the whole day...) IE(any version), Firefox, and other browsers don't support this idea, due to the fact that the user clicked close and you can't impose things on them.

May 26, 2011I need to get the page to reload with the anchor in the link when it is clicked in a dropdown menu. For example if I am on 'www.domain.com/about/#2' and I then click on 'www.domain.com/about/#3' the url changes but the page doesn't reload so I need the page to reload, but keep the new anchor (#3).I gave the links with anchors a class of 'reload' and tried this:

Jan 22, 2010I am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work
Window.open() To And HTML Anchor?
Apr 15, 2010I have a site where I am using window.open to open up and HTML page to a certain anchor.This works on some computers and not on others. The javascript part works fine but it does not go to the specific anchor all of the time. The code is correct because it works on my computer all browsers. The anchors do not work on my clients. There are 50 or some small images that I am anchoring. Could it be a loading problem with those images?Here is the javascript that I am using....

Show Save As Dialog Box Popup On Clicking Anchor Tag
Feb 18, 2011What I'm trying to do is have a 'Save As' dialog box pop up when I click an anchor tag. What's hidden in the anchor tag is base64 information, so my anchors look like this:
<a href=# src='data:image;base64, (base64 string here)' ></a>
So when I click on this, it gives me the option of downloading my base64 info just fine, but the problem is, the name of it looks to be just the entire base64 string. I was wondering if there was a way I could set this name? I can get the file name, so I'd love to just put '....jpg' as the name that the user downloads.
The reason I'm asking is because when I download the file, it comes out as (random characters).bin.part, and if I know the download is a pdf, I try opening it with a pdf viewer, but get yelled at by the MIME type... however, if I simply change '.bin.part' to '.pdf', I can open the file just fine, so I'd love for an automatic naming system, but not sure how to implement that. I've tried the document.execCommand('saveAs', '1', '<filename here>'), but I think this is for an actual file that you serve from the server... I don't have the actual file, just the base64.

So we would like to create something that opens a popup as normal however if javascript is disabled it opens a new tab or window with the information. But if javascript is enabled it just opens the popup not the new window.

But I have a ton of different links and don't want a bunch of code in the beginning of my pages. Is there a way to make the first part just the dimensions of the new window but then when I actually make the link, I could put where I want it to link to? Like javascript:load2(pictures).

This is what I currently have:

The page is in php, so that's why I have it as a string, which I later pass to a template page.

$delay is the delay before the popup opens, in microseconds (so 6000 would be 6 seconds).
What can I do to have the same delayed auto-popup functionality, but without it automatically refreshing the parent page where the above code resides?
As some background to what I'm achieving: The issue with not wanting the parent page to refresh is that each time it does, the login session gets extended. The popup itself (which I already have working ok) provides a 'continue working' function, or close and refresh the parent is nothing has been done after a short period.

Mar 24, 2011I need to delay a page from opening a new window for a minimum of 5 seconds to allow some php processing (inserting a new record into a table) to occur first. the open window code works fine without the time delay, but as soon as i attempt to put a delay in, nothing happens eg, the page no longer opens a new window called newrecord.php.
