Drag And Drop Multiple Images?
Mar 4, 2009I'm reasonably new to HTML, JS et al, but have been working with VBA for many years and consider myself an almost expert. I'm having a little trouble with some tricks in JS though, and I imagine this will not be the first query I have for this community
I have found code on W3Schools to drag and drop an image on a webpage. I am currently trying to modify it so that it drags and drops multiple images at once (as a group). This is because I intend to create meta-images on my webpage from multiple .gifs and .pngs with alpha=0, and then move those images around so that they appear to be one big image. This is the code I have that works, but only one image moves, the same image regardless of which image you click on:

Adding Images To Html5 Canvas ?
Jun 30, 2011I'm trying to figure out how to add images to a canvas element. I found a good site, but for some reason my images turn out bigger than expected.
Here's what I use (It's from different functions in different places, but essentially that is the relevant code). Assume there is a gameObject which has all the functions that I use. I tried replacing the functions with constant values but that made no difference:

Somehow the image shows up much bigger than 69 pixels width and height. When I make the canvas smaller the image scales down with the canvas. So when I make the canvas twice as small, the image becomes twice as small as well. Seems like it is not using pixels as units.

When I drag my link to my droppable area, an ajax request is supposed to triggred, but it seems like the whole page is beeing reloaded. This works fine with Chrome and Firefox. It works in IE if I have insert an alert in the drop function.
Im including the drop code I have:

Dec 7, 2007Please the link to see what I have done so far...[URL]... It is a day planner, where various places can be dragged on to the day planner. It works, but it seems very slow. Running firebug profile when dragging a simle place into a single slot tells me that over 35,000 calls were made.

It also uses jQuery to call a web service via Ajax - this also works fine.
However, I want to call the web service only when an item is dropped onto the objeect but when I try to add the Ajax function inside the $("#droppable").droppable({ drop: function(event, ui) {.... it doesn't seem to work.

Aug 12, 2009I am using jQuery Tabs to make an ajax call for each tab when clicked. The ajax that displays is like inettuts. 3 or 4 columns of widgets that can be dragged and dropped. The problem that I am having, when I put the html of the result directly in the main page, it works as designed. When I click on a tab, it displays the page, but all the jquery functions in that ajax page are gone and I cannot sort, drag and drop anything. I suspect that the ajax page is not reading the javascripts in the head, which are on main page. Unfortunately I can't remove them to include them in ajax pages dynamically because I am also using them for other functions in main page. Is there a way to make those ajax pages read the javascripts on that main page?

Jan 10, 2011I'm finally getting around to try the drag and drop functionality of jquery. I am working with the Shopping Cart example. Everything is working great but I would like to add a remove link to the dropped item so it can be deleted from the shopping cart.
Needless to say I haven't even gotten to the code to actually remove the link cause I can't even append the link...haha
This results in nothing: $('<a href="#">remove</a>').after(ui.item);
This results in duplicate entry of the dragged element with the bullet point: $('<a href="#">remove</a>').after.ui.item;

Feb 11, 2010I'm looking to find out a way to drag and drop table rows between two tables. I reused jQuery example for portlets, but that did not work to full satisfaction. In above screen shot I added border, but that is just for illustration of the issue. Problems:As you will see from the code I have to work with relative measurement there for I use percentage. I wasn't able to enforce row width to fill in whole table. How do I force full row width?
Drag-able row are part of table body (tbody) and headers are done with thead. In this scenario I enforced same style settings on header as body and everything is now squashed to the left. If I leave styling out of header then first header stretches over whole tdody content and second is out of place over nothing. Sort of bad designed table when you forget one column. This become a big issue if there is more then 2 items in a row, for example 4 column in tbody get squashed under one thead column even though there are 4 headers to align under it.

I would like to drag a div and when I drop it I want a copy of the div to append to the area and I want to be able to do the same process over and over again. Example: [URL]. I want my div to behave the same way but without the "sortable" function, instead I want to put the div wherever I want. I have tried to do just that for several days, without success.

Nov 12, 2009Interested in building my own drag'n'drop file uploader using JQuery/AJAX/PHP. Basically I want a file-uploader that users of my site can just drag the file from their computer into a div I created, and it will then upload the file for them to the selected destination.
I would like to build this from scratch, and not use any plugins so that I can better manipulate the restrictions (file types, size, destination folders, etc.)Have scoured google with no luck, only plugins. Can anyway steer me in the right direction?
UPDATEI: how to do what I want. Just set the file input field opacity to 1 so it is hidden, and you can still drag a file into that general area and if you hit the text field it will catch it. HOWEVER, I would like to know how to increase the height/width on the file input field (tried basic css on the file, but it only increases the 'browse' button size and not the actual field where you can drop the file into. I basically want a big square div that says 'Drop file here'. So I need to resize the input field.
