I have some images, when they are clicked on a loading animation appears briefly and then the window with the next step which must be completed before moving to the next page. I have seen on other sites (like amazon) where people just click on a help button and a little new window appeared. Can I do this in pure js? Does this work cross browser?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a slide show that can fill the browser window. It has a similar scrolling thumbnail navigation as Flickr, but it is made with JavaScript. So, the big problem is memory usage. To have images that will fill the browser window their sizes are around 100+KB, and there are some slide shows that have over 200+ images.
I have tried removing the images from the DOM, I've tried using Ajax but the JavaScript engine's Garbage Collector seems to do nothing, until I refresh the page.Does anyone have any idea's on keeping the memory usage down?

This gives me result of a fixed modal window in the center (but only looks like in center), relative to my Content Frame (which is the middle frame with other frames as Header, Nav and Footer frames).How can I get the width and height of the viewport for the whole page at a time to center the modal window relative to actual center of the page not just content frame. I have done thus far is set up a simple Ajax request to my server to log in a user (This part seems to work just fine). The problem that I am incurring is that I would like to close the window if the user has been successfully logged in and not close the window (aka - show the form errors via php) if the user did not input the correct credentials.
This is what I have got so far (which simply logs in a user): -note: the php currently just spits out Sucess or Fail to the jquery ajax request and I would like to add a way to verify if logged in then close window but if not keep window open

Danged if I can find the thread, but I swear I saw a $.url() reference in here a day or two ago. It was beingutilized for parsing out the window.location or window.location.search parameters. I made a mental note because that was something I would be needing to do.
Now I can't find it, either because the search isn't finding it or I was dreaming about this function existing.

I am trying to usw window.open , upload a file in the child window and then referesh the parent window. But once upload is done, window . opener .location.href or opener.location.replace sends a message back but I get a pop up blocker, so if I turn pop up blocker off, it opens in new page. I just want the parent page to refresh on the same window. This works on some employees stations but not on others..I don't know if there are any settings on IE that need to change, I tried everything...weird. does any one done this before?

For this I am trying to detect the window.onload of the pop-up child window but so far I am unsuccessful. I believe my problem is that the URL of child window is on different domain, than the one of the opener(parent) so that the window.onload is not being called. Though this may change, at the moment I do not have access to the code for the page I'm opening up in the pop-up. Im pretty new to web development.
