View 1 RepliesI am having a form with two input fields. I want to enter some text in the first input field and then the second field should get the same text. Is there a simple way (maybe a plugin) to do this with jQuery? It would be perfect if I even could output all these input fields values as normal text in <p> or <li> tags.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a form which is used to write recipes. I have a part of the form to list ingredients which uses 3 for fields, one for quantity one for measurement and one for the ingredient.Quantity is a text field and the other two are selects. The measurement select options are hard coded and the ingredients available are retrieved from a db and added with PHP. Under this I have a button that I would like to use to get the values of these form fields when clicked and apend to the value of a hidden form field which will be a multi dimensional array of those three values for each ingredient used. I would also like it to get the text values and print them to an empty element so the user can see what they are adding.
Form Code :
<li>Ingredients
<ul>
<li>
<label for="quantity">Quantity</label>

i am currently developing a cart for a website at my company.What i am attempting to do is update the grand total field dynamically as the product total (determined by quantity & price) are being populated.Each product in the cart is being generated by a foreach (php) reading from a mysql database.As the total values are not being prepopulated im not exactly sure what the logic would be to get the desired values.
I will also mention im relatively new to the whole web development area, i started begining of this year and feel i could still learn alot about the 'logic' of a computer.If anything is unclear about what i stated above feel free to request additional information.
Firstly, I got this script which gets values and automatically calculates it and shows result.
Script:
<script type="text/javascript">
function calculate(f){
var prod=Number(f['users'].value);
var quan=Number(f['months'].value);
var tot=prod*quan;
f['total'].value=tot==0?'':tot.toFixed(2);
}
</script>
<ul><li class="bold">Users</li>
<li>
<select name="users" onchange="calculate(this.form)" id="users">
<option value='1'>1</option>
<option value='2'>2</option>
</select>
</li></ul>
<ul><li class="bold">Period</li><li>
<select name="months" onchange="calculate(this.form)" id="months">
<option value=''>Select Months</option>
<option value='1'>1 Month</option>
<option value='2'>2 Months</option>
</select></li></ul>
Total: <input type="text" name="total" readonly="readonly">
What I'm trying to make is, the total, to be in a div and not input type text
Something like <div id="total"></div>
I don't like because it shows in form, I want it directly. One more thing, is possible to make the default price 0.00 ? and when selecting automatically changes to price..
I am working on a registration form for a conference. The form has several sections of radio buttons and checkboxes and I would like to have it set up so that if a radio button or checkbox is selected the price related to that selection shows up in the rigjt column of the form and can then be totaled up at the bottom of the page.
1. Show price in field.
2. Total up all of the prices at the bottom of the page.
You can view the registration form at: [URL]
sample code, whereby if I change a field value in a web form (from a drop-down list for example), the value shown in another field is automatically updated to show the needed value for that selected option?

The problem is that after adding a new input field - the content in the other fields is deleted.

I have a registration form that I am working on in which I need to assign a price to each option in a selection box then write that price in the document.Then I have a radio button that will add (different amounts based on selection) to that price before it is written. Then I have another radio button that just needs to write a price based on its selection. Both of these values will be written and then totaled. (See below for a less confusing explanation)
On HTML form:
>drop down list (name courseName, value of selections 1,2,3,4)
> radio button (name returnStudent, value of selections 1,2)

I need the value of my drop down box options to contain size information rather than price. However I would like to be able to calculate a price for the items based on what size the user selects as well as the quantity. Below is the code I came up with (which doesn't work obviously)What can I do to get this to work for me?

I'm trying to insert a javascript variable into a hidden input form
field. Here's what it looks like:
<form name="loginForm"
action="scripts/wgate/ziac_login/!?~language=EN">
<input type="hidden" name="pss" value="`G_NEW_PASSWORD.value`">
<input type="hidden" name="usr" value="">
<input type="submit" value="Please Click Here to Continue">
</form>
and then later down the page I try to reassign "usr" like this:
<script>
var allcookies = document.cookie;
var position = allcookies.indexOf("user=");
var start = position + 5;
var end = allcookies.indexOf(";", start);
if (end == -1) end = allcookies.length;
var valueofuser = allcookies.substring(start, end);
valueofuser = unescape (valueofuser);
document.write(valueofuser);
document.loginForm.usr.value = valueofuser;
</script>
I can see it is printing out document.write(valueofuser) correctly, so
I know it is grabbing the user name. But it doesn't seem to want to
insert it into the form on the next line. Any suggestions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedHopefully a really quick question. I'm a JS novice, and am looking for a way to output the coordinates of a Google maps marker into the value of two text fields, one for latitude and one for longitude.The code below is a simple location search which returns a result with a draggable marker. Currently, the coordinates in both text fields update when the location search is performed, but not when the marker is dragged to a new location afterwards.

I want to be able to submit without a page reload and I can't seem to figure out how to override whatever code the author created to disable the value of the text area field unless the form is formally submitted using the submit button. Additionally I don't seem to be able to attach any events to the submit button. I'm not sure you will be able to help me but thought it's worth a shot. Here's the form:

I have a problem created by my complete [rookie] status – only second time venturing into jQuery. I created a simple shopping cart using php and the PayPal buttons (1: buy now, 2: add to cart). The php back end does it great, it generates the table and the buttons and everything works just like it’s supposed to; Except, I forgot to add sizes. So I found out what I need to add, and I realize that the way the buttons work, I will have two different text boxes for size. Not very visually appealing, and since I’m not submitting this to the server before it goes to PayPal to pay, I cannot modify it with php the way I normally would. jQuery / javascript are my only hope of making this work. What I want to do:Have a single textbox where [size] is entered by the user.
Copy the value from the [correct] text box to the Value=”” section of the now hidden field in the PayPal form That way, no matter whether they [BUY NOW] or [ADD to CART] the right size is submitted to the PayPal shopping cart. This is the actual PayPal code that I’m trying to change
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="hidden" name="on1" value="Size" maxlength="200">Size</td>

I got this far, and then decided to find how to insert the "enteredVALUE" into the right place in the input text field (what I called output) and I've not been able to figure out how to stuff it in there.
So I have to ask some stupid questions and make sure that there is not something wrong in this simple syntax. I am trying to get input field attributes type and tagname by field ID. Heres the code..
Code JavaScript:
var type = $('#' + input_id).attr('type');
var tag = $('#' + input_id).attr('tagName');
When I look in firebug I see there is the correct ID in input_id variable and that the input field with that id exists. But for tag and type variables I just get 'undefined' for reason unknown.. syntax is correct or?

I'm using the datepicker plugin, I want to define minDate as the value of another input (it's also a date) but this code is not working :
$("#date_retour").datepicker({
changeMonth: true,
changeYear: true,
dateFormat: 'dd/mm/yy',
minDate: $("#date_depart").val(),
maxDate: $("#date_depart").val()+1m,
defaultDate: $("#date_depart").val()
});
In a registration form middleName field is optional. When the users enters his/her middleName, then it should validate that field. I have used the following code to achieve the above scenario, but it is not working.
$("#middleName").rules("add", {checkName: true, required: false, messages: {checkName: "Please enter a valid middle name"} });
jQuery.validator.addMethod("checkName",
function(value, element) {
var regExp = new RegExp(/^[a-zA-Z0-9s|,|.|-|']+$/);
return regExp.test(value);
},
"Please enter a valid name."
);
How to achieve the above scenario.
I have already done a number of things with Jörn's validation plugin and I'm excited about its features. But here is my question: how do I validate a field so that it fits the two following conditions: it should be an integer and should not be equal to zero? So, if a user enters "0", it should be error; if he/she enters "12.5", it should be error also; but "-3", "125", "40" are OK.
