I cant figure out why this wont return the highest target. The variable highest_target is placed outside the for loop.

I'm using the jquery topZIndex plugin in my application. It's working great. Now I have a situation though, where I would like to return the element with the highest z-index on the page. The plugin has a function that will return the highest z-index, but it's a value, not an object.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of input fields, each which will have a numerical value. There can be any number of input fields in the form, and that number will vary depending on what the user has selected prior in the application.
So basically I created a loop that goes though all of the INPUT fields within the form. How can I have it find the value of each field and add them all together, then return to me the total? It'll need to be made into a variable, but a simple alert with the total value will give me enough to work with.
How would I target (with jQuery or normal javascript) the 5th and 6th li in an unsorted list for styling? I need to change the css for only 2 items in a list.

But depending on the users settings there could be 3 or 30...each div has a button. On press 1 it opens that div(by opens I mean populates with some data. When you press another button on another div, I want it to check the page and close any other div that may be open so you can only have one open at once.I'm familiar with loops and arrays but I'm not quite sure if this is totally possible. I'm trying to add <option> elements to a <select> list. It isn't going too well! The option elements are years from 2004-2013. My code below successfully increments my year variable, but I'm obviously going awry with how I'm writing to the document. At the moment I get 10 separate select boxes instead of the single select list containing the 10 options for each year.

The above code works. BUT, msg.d returns 80 objects. We then loop through it and make our list items. AND then we loop through it again and apply the click event. How can this be optimized into one loop?
The following PHP code populates a dropdown list of Projects. I would like to be able to click on a Project Name in the list and have its corresponding list of Characters appear beside it. How can I tie jquery into this as it's running? All the jquery examples I see are for hard coded HTML data instead of a PHP loop grabbing from a database.

I've written a program which will prompt for a number of cities, Prompt for the name of the city, then prompt for the number of snowfall readings of that city, and then prompt for each of these individual snowfall readings of that city. From this, it adds up each of the individual snowfall readings of that city, and will calculate an average by dividing this figure [the total snowfall] by the total number of readings for that city. This average is used to then classify the city as "not snowy", "mild", or "blizzard". I'm happy to PM my code to anyone willing to help out, as I realise this is a complex structure to visualise perhaps, but I can't post it publicly.

I am using the following javascript on the target page to open it as top location from within an iframe, which is working ok.

However my problem occurs when the user uses the browsers back arrow to return to the previous page, the script executes again returning them once more to the page they have come from. Is anyone aware of a work around to this problem as it would seem there isn't one? perhaps even a better solution for opening the target page from the iframe as top location. This is really causing confusion for users, and I really need to get the issue fixed.

I have been looking at this code for two evenings now, and rewrote it 4 times already. It started out as jQuery code and now it's just concatenating strings together.
What I'm trying to do: Build a menu/outline using unordered lists from a multidimensional array.
What is happening: Inside the buildMenuHTML function, if I call buildMenuHTML, the for loop only happens once (i.e. only for 'i' having a value of '0'.) If I comment out the call to itself, it goes through the for loop all 3 times, but obviously the submenus are not created.

I'm looking to send a loop variable (i) to a function inside the loop, but I can't seem to get it to use the value I want, it keeps making it a reference of i and therefore the function is always called using the last value of i rather than the one it was set with.
So if i have 5 Tabs then Tab 1, when clicked, should call DefaultTabClick(0) and so on rather than always using 4 for any of the tabs.
