Dec 28, 2006
i want to dynamically add rows to my table body using javascript, which am able to do. but there is a problem. for ex.
three rows
1
2
3
if i delete second row
1
3
if i want to add one more row.., then it should be row 2 with number 2.
---------------------------------------------
var totChkTable = document.getElementById('TABLE');
row=totChkTable.tBodies[0].appendChild(document.createElement('<tr >'));
..
....
cell=document.createElement('td');
---------------------------------------------
In each row ther r 6 colums, so i need a way where i can append my child in b/w.

My overall challenge is to make up for what I consider to be a design flaw in how Google Ad Manager works. What I am trying to accomplish is create a way for an advertiser to randomly rotate through whichever ad formats are available, rather than get locked into a particular ad slot location.
This has required several steps, most of which I've been able to work out by myself, and now I'm down to what I expect is the last big issue. Because Google Ad Manager pairs up the highest priority advertiser with the first loaded ad slot script, the most important task was to randomize the load order of the scripts. Doing this, however, necessitates pairing up those scripts with the appropriate space set aside for them on the page, more or less after the fact.
The code I'm having trouble with is the part where I try to move the node containing the active script to the its desired location and is showing just about every permutation of result except the one that I want, depending on browser.
var moveithere = document.getElementById(newmodid);
moveithere.appendChild(divinloader[i]);
moveithere.appendChild(scriptelement[i]);
Not surprisingly, IE breaks as soon as it gets to this point and nothing happens with the divinloader[i] node OR the scriptelement[i] node - I have seen some references that it's not likely to like this and perhaps some recommendations about how to handle it, so I'm not too concerned about that just yet.
Firefox doesn't throw any kind of an error, but neither does the scriptelement[i] node do anything at all, even though the divinloader[i] node migrates to where I want it. Chrome comes the closest to working - the script runs, but not in the location that I want. Although I don't expect it's been an exhaustive search, I have tried a number of other approaches and this one has seemed to get me the closest to the desired result with the simplest coding. As to what's currently acceptable coding and what's not, I won't pretend to have a clue.
To see the full code in action, what it does, what I'm trying to do and to check for errors (likely) or offer suggestions on how I could get there more easily just use the following - I've substituted simpler code so that you don't have to pull down the actual Google Ad Manager scripts but it seems to work exactly the same and shows what I'm trying to do anyway. Hopefully there aren't any unnecessary artifacts still present.

I have tried some css & html methods to place the footer at the bottom of the page no matter at which height it will be after the javascript files will run. But I cannot do it.I tried then to adjust the position of the footer dynamically after the window has loaded and the footer is placed indeed at the end of the document, but if the document gets bigger, the footer doesn't go lower.Specifically:FILE html_test.html
HTML Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Is there a way to position a dynamically created <div> inside a specific parentNode?
For example, if in my html code I have
<div id="test"></div>
When I create my dynamic <div>, can I created it to be within the above div? Or must it always be appended to the end?

so i wrote this slider with some help from an admin, everything works as I would like it to but I'm trying to make it a plugin so i need to tighten up a certain part of the code:
(function( $ ){
$.fn.jmSlider = function() {
// get total width of all li elements in the slider
var wrapWidth = 0;
[code]....
what i would like to do is instead of using "li:first" and "li:last", i would like to use first-child and last-child so the element doesn't need to be a li, in can be anything that is the direct child of the parent container.

I'm new to javascript and am not sure why this works in firefox and not chrome. I am trying to create a script that keeps an object fixed horizontally while bing positioned absolute vertically. if I replace the toPP variable in document.getElementById('fire').style.top = toPP; with say '50px' it will move the element down 50 pxs, but how I have it currently it doesn't do anything in chrome
<script type="text/javascript" >
window.onscroll = function()
{
if( window.XMLHttpRequest ) {
var x = 0 -document.documentElement.scrollTop;
var toP = String(x);
var toPP = toP + "px";

I have a parent window that pushes a new window object onto an Array
with the following code :
OpenChild()
{
//totalNumWindowsCreated is global
totalNumWindowsCreated = totalNumWindowsCreated + 1;
childWnds.push(window.open(link, "child" +
totalNumWindowsCreated,"dependent"));
..
..
..
}
This pops up a new window with every call. In the child window I call
a parent function onbeforeunload, appClose() :
function appClose(){
if (window.opener && !window.opener.closed){
window.opener.CloseChild(getQueryString("application"));
}}
This is in my frameset tag of the child code :
<frameset ... onbeforeUnload='appClose()'>
The window.opener.CloseChild() function is called perfectly when I have
one child window open, but as soon as I create another child window
both of the open child windows don't ever call it. They do both go
into the onbeforeunload appClose() function, but do not call the
window.opener.CloseChild() function inside of this routine.
Anyone have any ideas why when I have two child windows open I can't
access the window.opener functions?
I have tried taking each new window out of the array and used the
following code in CloseChild() :
CloseChild()
{
//win and totalNumWindowsCreated are both global
totalNumWindowsCreated = totalNumWindowsCreated + 1;
var win = window.open(link, "child" +
totalNumWindowsCreated,"dependent");
..
..
..
}

#navigation li is the parent element, which is positioned relative.The ul element above that is also position relative. I previously tested a click function and was able to confirm I was getting the correct position back, so now I just need to set the CSS property correctly for all of those links.The reason I want to do this is I have a set of links that appear over a photo of a city skyline. When you hover over those items, I want them to be given a background image that is a blurred and lightened version of the same photo so it needs to line up (sort of like the tabs are made of frosted glass).

I have a basic text input field that is validated with jquery.
I've created a function to append to a url once the user has input an ID into the text field.
However, when I use the window.open method, a new window opens, and when I use window.location, the user ID is appended to the current url and not the url defined in the function.
Here is the function:
Here is the markup:
When a user clicks on the 'submit' button without entering anything into the text field, a new window opens (I know, the function uses the window.open), when I close the new window - the jquery works, a label saying 'this field is required' appears.
When a user inputs an ID, and then clicks on the 'submit' button, a new window opens with the correct appended url.
What I need to have happen is - if the text field is empty and the user clicks on the 'submit' button - I don't want the function to run.
When I switch window.open to window.location, then when the user inputs an ID into the text field, that ID is appended to the CURRENT url and not the url specified in the function. I don't have the luxury of server side scripting.

End result: I want to have buttons along the top of a textarea which will be used to add tags around highlighted text / the text curser thingy. (Basically it will be an edit box like the I am using now to make this post).
Problem at the moment: I want to reference the var to use in the function. e.g.
function addtext(id) {
var al = "<div style="text-align:left;"></div>";
document.myform.outputtext.value += id;
}
"id" will be defined as "al" in the HTML onclick function, I want this to use "var al" where it says ".value += id;".
HTML:
<form name="myform">

I have an AJAX function in jquery that sends information and displays it on the spot for you. The problem is when I append the message it appends it on top of the other DIVs.
So basically this is the structure of DIVs:
When I hit submit it puts the hidden DIV over DIV1 so the results is like this:
I need it to be under DIV3 so that it logically makes sense to the user. Like so:

What is the proper way to .append to an element that has been appended? I'm creating a unordered list via jQuery and attempting to append list elements to said list but those elements, loaded from an XML file, duplicate themselves when I do this.
When I append those list elements to an html element that is hard coded into my html file, this does not happen.

I'm sure the answer to this question has to do with iterating over each element in the wrapped set, but I still don't understand why. I have a number of anchors in my page that have a class named Get.I want to append a querystring name value pair to the end of each href.
$(
'.Get').attr('href').append('&id=' + id); does not work. Can someone tell me why and what is the correct solution.
