anybody knew of an existing library for using Javascript to create a dynamic text overlay on an image?I'd like to have a user enter text and have it show up on the t-shirt in real time, but not quite sure where to start. I'm no JS pro. I tried to look for existing jquery libraries but couldn't find much.
I'm new to jQuery, but I'm very excited to incorporate it into my project. I'm trying to re-create the following flash-based technique for an open-source medical student project, but I'm not sure how to begin: [URL]. The example is exactly what I am trying to achieve with jQuery. I have a fundoscopic image (image of the back part of the eye) and I want to put a dark overlay that covers the entire image except for a clear circular center, centered over the mouse cursor. The clear circular center should move with the mouse cursor (with some delay/smoothness). When the mouse cursor leaves the image space, the clear circular center should return to its initial position.
i need to create a remove button that appear over my thumbs when a user hover that image with his mouse a link appear like remove from favorites ? anyone know how to achieve this ? an example of what i want is youtube quick list button u find over the videos thumbs.
I am using the cycle plugin to vertically scroll images with text overlays on a WordPress homepage. I position a div with a semi-transparentbackgroundto darken behind the text The div style uses abackground-image with the -moz-linear-gradient and for IE it uses filter with the microsoft gradient. I thought it might be a problem but it actually works half the time. When a new slide appears and scrolls down the text background is completely transparent - through to the page background. The text over the background is also faintly visible. Once the new slide is in position however, the background and textappear as intended. The suprising point -while theslide is being removed the text and background display perfectly.
I've been beating my head against a wall for a few days trying to get this working. I'm trying to create a dynamic menu where a user selects one item and another select list is shown, then another and another (and so on). Here is my JS, it *should* be taking the ID of the div, comparing it to the selected value and then showing another div by settings it's class property to visible:
I am trying to create a chrome extension that can pass text from a text box to a webpage text box. Basically my company has an intranet site where you can search for an employee. The url does not display the search terms so i cant just append to it. Since I cant really work on this outside of work (its an intranet site) i have tried replicating it from home using the let me google that for you (www.lmgtfy.com) site.
I've been looking all over the place in order to find a script like they use on Foliostars, where you see a sliding semi-transparant text layer over a thumbnail image when you hover. how to achieve this using JS or an Ajax framework (preferably JQuery)?

Here is a short tutorial on dynamic-links which use javascript to create the page. Ok to start open up notepad and type
<html><head> <title>My first dynamic link</title> </head><body><script> var name=prompt("Enter name:",""); var age=prompt("Enter age:",""); if (name == "" || age == ""){ document.write("Please reload and fill everything in."); } else { document.write('<a href="javascript:dp='Your name:'+name+'<br>Your age:'+age+''">Click here for dynamic page</a>'); } </script> <noscript><a href="getfirefox.com">Get a decent browser</a></noscript> </body></html>
Ok save it and test it out. I am writing this kinda fast so if it doesn't work pm me or reply to this topic. Ok we will go over what it does now. 1. First it gives you the prompt name then age. It checks whether they are both filled in and if they aren't it says to reload. Otherwise it writes down the link. Next we will go over the link. 2. Here is the infrastructure of the link.
1. The start of most links "<a href="
2. The starting of the string for the browser to connect to " " "
3. The tag that defines a javascript page and its name is dp. "javascript:dp"
4. What the javascript equals " = "
5. Start of the string for the javascript to do " ' "
6. Now it displays the text Your name: "Your name:"
7. It now appends the variable from the script name to it. EG:your name you entered. "'+name+'"
8. It makes a line break and displays the text Your Age: "<br>Your age:"
9. It now appends the variable from the script age to it. EG:your age you entered. " '+age+' "
10. Leaves a blank space " "
11. Starts to end the javascript string by closing the space for text and a semi-colon to end the page. "'"
12. Ends the html string for the link and displays text for the link." ">Click here for dynamic page"

I'd like to create a pop-up window for my site. I've used behaviors in the past. I'm not sure if that's the best way now. Basiclly I have a photo gallery with thumbnails. Once you click the thumbnail I want a larger window to open with the image. I've seen the javascript windows used that use CSS lightbox, however I can't get it to work with my site. I guess I should mention I'm using asp vbscript ,ms sql database with a link to the image paths that are sitting in the images folder.
