View 6 RepliesIs it possible for 'Random Image Script' http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cut144.shtml to be a js include file rather than having to be in the body tag so that I can edit it centrally and apply to multiple pages rather than having to edit each page individually when I have a new image and link to add to the script?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a script that is close to working, but not quite. it loads 1 of 9 random images on pageload with the corresponding link on the image. that works fine. i am trying to also get the corresponding copy to appear next to it, but it seems to be totally random as well and not matching up with its proper image (for example, if image 5 loads, then copy 5 should be the one that loads). below is what i have.
HTML Code:

I have used the below code, found on a forum from 2006, to generate a random image on my website with a link and accompanying text.The image works fine, the link that goes with each image is fine.Problem is: the text beneath the image does not match the image and link. This seems to be generated as a separate random element. Can anyone tell me how I can make my site display image 1 + link 1 + quotation 1?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use Javascript to have an array of images that load randomly AND work in a slideshow manner so change every 3 seconds (in a logical order). The code I have below presents a random image but how do I get them to continue from the random image and change to the next every 3 seconds?
<script language="JavaScript">
images = new Array(3);
images[0] = "<a href = 'photo1.html'><img src='images/photo1.jpg' alt='Photo 1'></a>";
images[1] = "<a href = 'photo2.html'><img src='images/photo2.jpg' alt='Photo 2'></a>";

I have some Javascript which says this:
Now that is fine when the text is only one line long. Suppose it's longer? What I want to do is have Javascript give the variable contentString its text from a hosted text file in a similar manner to the way Javascript can insert more Javascript using a hosted .js file.
I illustrate what I need to do using some "dummy" javascript:
I'm try to set up a webpge that will play a live flash video on the left-hand side(got that part working) and display one slide of a presentation(jpg) to the right of the video. I would like to be able to control when the slide image changes by having some js check a text file on my server. The text file could contain something as simple as "Slide1.jpg". I will manipulate the text file with some code I've already written. Is there some simple js code I can put in my page that will cause it to check the text file every 5 seconds, and if the content of the file has changed, to refresh the image on the page with the new image? I'm try to get away from the "clicking" sound that is caused by doing a simple refresh of an Iframe.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for a resolution to this issue for hours trying to customize my page located at [url]
Specifically, I'm trying to figure out why this line of code is not making my images display in the background:
Original plugin script provided here: [url]
<script>
I made adjustments with my image references that are all located in this directory: [url]
Problem: No images load, and I believe I don't fully understand the .appendTo tage.. I don't know if #body is correct. The author of the plugin assumed I understood the relation. Also #homePage may be incorrect as well.
Additionally, I found another plugin that worked for placing an image in the background (not random), and the background image would scale to size, according the users window. I loved that and it worked, just wanted to add random images to the same script.... first things first... I can't even get an image to display at all with the above code.
In case you wanted to know the script I was using to scale the background image, here it is below (although, as you will see in the code for my site - this image feature is disabled as I am trying to make adjustments).
code for image solutions used:
HTML
CSS
If I can get this second code to work with the random image plugin.
Here's what I usually use and have been using for years and it works great, just not for this particular purpose. I don't have a clue when it comes to javascript.
<noscript><img src="no_script_quote.gif" width="406" height="94"/></noscript><script language="javascript">
var delay=6000
var curindex=0

But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics.
I'm completely new to this and have no knowledge at all when it comes to javascript. Have been using this script on my site for a while. Is there anyway I can add a URL link to the images that are in my selector? When clicked would go to that page on my website.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write code a page which will randomly generate links to sound files. I want the user to be able to click on the link and then hear the sound file without a separate window opening up, or the page changing. The following code generates the links correctly, and some of the code allows files to be played in the same window. But only when the file is specified i.e. not randomly generated. I can't figure out how to combine the two things i.e. generating links randomly, and playing the file in the same window.
Code:

actually i am working on a project "random password generator". What basically is to be done in this project is to generate user password for the username randomly he has provided. Then, this password is to be stored in a text file in the following manner
UserName Password
ABCD JU12H6
Sdjksj HJudfdsfd
Now my problem is that every time I just try to generate a new password, either a new file is made or the heading is rewritten again and again or if I just try to change the variables true and false, then the username and password headings are not printed. Please help. If someone knows how to do this using if-else method then please tell me, how it can be done? The code is attached.

I've been looking all over the place in order to find a script like they use on Foliostars, where you see a sliding semi-transparant text layer over a thumbnail image when you hover. how to achieve this using JS or an Ajax framework (preferably JQuery)?

I'm hoping that someone can answer what is probably a really simple question. I've got the Random Image Slideshow script from javascript.com and have it placed in my site where I want it. Now how do I get it to read where I've got the images I want displaying? The folder I have is called homeimages with 10 photos currently inside it.
