How would I seperate a text string such that it would appear on seperate lines ie. Initial Input: StrMsg = "This is an example of a string that will appear on seperate lines" "Hoping that this fully works, there will be no errors and all will be well" "This is the last line of text."
[Code]..
How can the output of the following code be written on separate lines ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've used a function to out put two lists, - loco numbers and loco names - which I want to display side by side on a page, either in two adjacent divs or in a two-column table so that viewers can straight away reference the numbers with the associated names.
I can output it as a document.write - but that just results in one continuous list of numbers and then names. explain how to output the two lists in two separate divs.
outputting the results from a javascript search function onto a new page. Right now I am using a javascript search script on 7 pages and it works but the results overwrite the current page that the search was initiated from. I would like it to open a new page and print out into a specific area. Im not really proficient in js, tho I know enough to get by. since ive been grinding my gears at work trying to get this to display right. I'll post the code tomorrow morning when I get to work so you can see the function.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is a variable:
input = window.document.sidegenerate.input.value;
This variable points to a textarea of a form. Meaning that it has multiple lines.
What I want to do is have code added before and after each line. Example:
Original Input:
Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
Line 4
etc
This would be the output:
<h2>Line 1</h2>
<b>Line 2</b>
<b>Line 3</b>
<b>Line 4</b>
<b>etc</b>
As you can see, all the lines have had the same formatting added to them except for the first line. Which has different formatting.
Code:
function updatePreview(paramid, paramval, paramcomment)
{

I have an html form and an icon, if i click on the icon, a new pop-up
window is open and shows a list of numbers with a structure like this
:
x.xx.xxx.xxxx.
Now, this numbers are between an <a href> tag and if i clic on one of
this, i call a javascript function, the idea is to put each one number
separate for the "." in a textbox, so i did it before but putting it
in a single input. Now i need to separate each one of this numbers and
put it in each one of the textbox. If i have to put it in a single
input i´ll do something like this:
<script language="javascript">
function Funcion(val)
{
//val value is 1.12.123.1234
window.parent.opener.document.txtCtaNiv.value=val;
top.parent.window.close();
}
</script>
The code above puts the value (that previosuly i selected in the popup
window) in the input field of the main form. That's easy.
Now if the parameter val has the value 1.12.123.1234 and in the main
form i have four input fields called txtCtaNiv1, txtCtaNiv2,
txtCtaNiv3, txtCtaNiv4, how can i separate the parameter val?, so i
can put the 1 in txtCtaNiv1, the 12 in the input field txtCtaNiv2, the
123 in txtCtaNiv3 and so on?
I am using the "lightbox" effect to open my images which uses javascript. I am also using jQuery for the changing banner at the top of the page. Ever since I put the jQuery script in, the "lightbox" script stopped working. When I remove the jQuery script, the "lightbox" script works again. Obviously they are conflicting for some reason. I have included the relevant code below.
HTML Code:
for(var i=0;i<document.all.elements.length;i++){
alert(document.forms[0].elements[i].id);
}
This code displays the ids of only controls in a form, but I'd like it to
display ALL items. For example, not just the ids of buttons, inputs, etc,
but any <span> elements as well. Is there something I could replace with
the "elements"? I tried tags but that doesn't work either.
All I'm trying to do is delete the lines which don't contain a particular
string. Actually a filter to edit a log file. I can find and replace a thing
with null, but can't figure out how to find the lines which do not contain
the thing.
Going further, I want to generalize and use a JavaScript variable containing
the decision string, but first I need to worry about the not-within-a-line
problem.
Can Jquery Detect How Many Lines of Text within a Div or A tag?
I am attempting to have different backgrounds depending on how many lines the left navigation takes up. For example if the item in the left nav only takes up one line it will have backgroundA. If the item in the left nav only takes up 2 lines it will have backgroundB etc.. Currently I have everything with backgroundA but there are a few that are taking up two lines or three lines and I can't shorten them as that is what the customer needs to have, but it looks horrible...
So can Jquery detect how many lines of text within a div or a tag and follow the css so it knows when it goes to another line and it can switch the background to something longer?
I am using JQuery 1.42 to write a simple popup table to show some information to users when they move the mouse over a string of sentence.Here is the code I copied from a web site:
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#link").mouseover(function(){
$("#popup_menu").show();
[code]....
But I don't know how to do this in JQuery.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Javascript to write a web application for my company to use as a manufacturing control system. It is all working very well, but I have come across a basic problem that many of you may know the answer to.
I start my web page by referencing jquery and a couple of plugins. Then I add my own Javascript functions. Following that I add all the PHP code and functions, followed by the HTML. The problem I have noticed is that if I add another Java script function, something stops working. take the function out, delete not comment out. and all is well again. After pulling my hair out for a while, I realised that there seems to be a limit to the amount on lines of Javascript I can put into the page. The solution is simple, just gather all my Javascript code and put it in another file with a .js extension and add it as a reference in the top of the file after jquery. I can then add as many line of code as I like without a problem.
how the lines of Javascript are limited?
I'm using jQuery to pull a file asynchronously. I want to then sum the total of lines in that file that begin with "/". The file is a cache manifest and looks something like this...
Is there a simple approach to this? I've been messing with regex to get it done and not having much luck...
