Where can I go to find documentation about client side properties and methods of an asp:listbox controls. I need to access the control at client side but can not find any documentation of the properties and methos available a client side.
So, for example, if someone chooses "California" out of the State list (select box), the City list next to it gets updated with all of the cities in California.
I want to programmatically list all properties of JS object from C++ code (I am using Mozilla's JSAPI). I know I can go up the prototype chain with JS_GetPrototype, then enumerate each object's own properties with JS_Enumerate.
In attempting to modify a script of a menu, that I wanted to add the ability to have sub menus, I first wanted to find out if an ordered list element, contained a secondary unordered list and what their names are so I could out put the items to the console.
i have a couple of elements on my web page, that i want to manipulate in one loop.
jQuery.each($(".specificClass"), function(i) { // do something }
Within that loop i have to check what type of element that very one is e.g. a <div> or a <span> or an <img> or a <input type="button"> or something else.I managed to isolate some of them, the easiest was the button where i checked the following:
if ($("selector").is(":button")) { // do something }
In the jQuery API 1.3.2 there are some more useful Forms Filters like :input, :text, :checkbox etc. What i really miss is something for a drop down list. I would have expected that there is something like
if ($("selector").is(":select")) { // do something }
but i could not find it.It would also be great to have something to check if the element is an image. I have read that there exist such a check, but that is for images that are input-images within a form. I am longing for a simple check for an image somewhere in the web page.
if ( !isNullOrEmpty($("selector").attr("src"))) { // --- image --- // do something }
Is there an efficient way (ie. not looping through all members and counting) to find out what number an li will get in an ordered list? For example: [code]...
Naturally #first and #second will be 1 and 2, respectively. Without looping though all children of ol and counting, can I determine the number for #first and #second?
how to add extra properties to html elements as I was storing data in html attributes. After looking at some others code including Raphael and this addEvent code. [URL] They seem to treat objects just like an array. obj[property] = value; This would have been extremely helpful to know previously as I have needed to be able to include variables in property names - but have resorted to making the whole thing a string and calling exec() on it.
When user select, for example, option 3, how can i find which was the previously selected option? etc... I've found some javascript example that evaluate "previousIndex" property of the select element but it doesn't work at all
I'm just trying to find the best method of updating a running total of the value of list boxes. I basically have 6 items and I want a drop down box listing quantities. when a number is selected I want a total to update beneath. I'm not sure I can do this in PHP without reloading the page. Do i need to use Java script? if so I'm a total newbie can someone point me in the right direction?
This is pretty simple, but if you've ever wished that the DOM exposed a label property for any form element that had a label specified for it, well, you'll enjoy this.
{ var labels = f.getElementsByTagName( "label" ); for ( var i = 0; ( label = labels[i] ); i++ ) f.elements[label.htmlFor].label = label; }
Just pass it a reference your form and voila! You now have element.label.
I have 1 form, and dozens of elements. In the select elements I use onchange="somefunc()". In this function I'd like to access and change the form element attributes (such as form.element.option[].value and form.element.option[].innerHTML).
Is there a way to access the element that has just changed (unsing onchange="somefunc()") by passing a "this.element" parameter to access the elements properties such as form.element.option[].value within the function?
return "HTMLUnknownElement". But if I add a dummy form previous for the one I actually want to find, then:
document.getElementById('DummyForm'); returns "HTMLUnknownElement", and then document.getElementById('MyForm'); Returns "HTMLFormElement", that is what need. But this unknown element, the dummy form creates a lot of other problems with my site so this solution is no good for me. Why cant I find my Form?
In my form, the user can check only one option: either * ship to default address * ship to new address
Both options are radio buttons. They both have the same instance name, but different ids. That way the user is forced to choose either one or the other.
My problem is that since both radio buttons have the same instance name, then I cannot get the value of the instance with JavaScript.
I have a javascript function that sets the value of an input area on my page. I need to update the function so that it also sets the value of the input area on a separate page. Currently, I am using a frameset, so I can see both pages simultaneously, but I cannot change the value of the upper page from the lower page which contains the script to update the input areas.
Here is my code: document.lowerForm.inputOne.value = myVar; //Successfully Updates Input Area. document.upperForm.inputTwo.value = myVar; //Cannot find specified form and input area.
