This is working perfectly in firefox. This is the 1st time I'm seeing a function call like this.
Does this work in all browsers?

I got an html page that uploads an image and some text field to a database.
What I'd like to do is modify the content of one of the textfields prior to it being submitted to the database. Specifically, I need to append the contents of one of the fields to another.
The problem that I've encountered is that the textfield name contains square brackets , ‘extra_fields[Price]'
I've identified the square brackets as being the problem by changing the textfield's name to one that doesn't contain square brackets ,extra_fieldPrice for example and the script works fine.
Unfortunately, in the real world application of this page, I can't change the textfield name.
The specific part of the html page that's giving me problems is:

While trying to get a selector to work with ids that include square brackets, I searched the forum and found that I needed to escape the brackets with '\'. However, while this works with my fiddle: can't get the exact same selector to work within my page in either FF or Safari. I've triple-checked the id and it is correct; I know that jQuery is working on the page because changing the selector to$('.nameinput') gives the expected results. can't change the id because I'm working within an existing application; I know I could add a class to the input and use that as the selector instead. I'd prefer not to and would just like to figure out why this isn't working.

This is a very basic version of what I am trying to do. I have a dynamic list which is set in a table. When clicked, a function is run to set up a new list.. The reason I explain that, is that I need to keep it dynamic.Now for the problem:When I run this page, I have the button made right away, then when clicked it creates the new button. The new button should also run the function to create the new button again, but when I click it, I only receive "error on page".
I'm trying to "progressively enhance" one of my surveys using javascript. Basically, I have rating scales that make use of radio buttons as each point on the scale. Each radio button occupies its own cell in a table. I wrote some functions that will highlight cells on mouseover in a color corresponding to its position on the scale (e.g. the lowest point is red, the midpoint is yellow, the highest point is green). When a radio button is clicked, the background of the button's cell and preceding cells in the same row will be colored accordingly. The functions are working well in FireFox and Chrome (I just have to add a few lines using the addEvent function to make it compatible with IE).
The effect looks a lot nicer when I add a function that makes the visibility of the radio buttons hidden.
However, I want to make sure that there is a fallback option in case the functions that color the cells don't work for whatever reason. I would not want the radio buttons hidden in this case.
Is there a method whereby I can call the "hideRadiobuttons" function only if the other functions are successfully executed?
I am creating a little word guess game, with a random function which picks the word from an array of 10 words. The second function checks if the users' letter choice is part of the secret word. Currently, each time the checkGuess() function is called, the word is changed, probably because I am calling the wordPicker() function from within. The wordPicker randomly chooses the word, then returns that word. All I want to do is pull that word into the checkGuess function, without calling the wordPicker function as it currently does. Here is the code:

I'm working through the sitepoint ajax book and had a problem with a particular chunk of code. I eventually tracked down the error and it was being caused because I had:
window.onload = Monitor.init();
instead of:
window.onload = Monitor.init;
Now, one of the sticky threads mentioned that the first is a function call and the second is a function pointer. My questions are:What's the difference between a function call and a function pointer? Why did it cause problems in this particular case? What are the general implications/issues with using one over the other?
A group of select inputs with identical options When an option is selected from 1 dropdown it is removed from the others (unless its a blank one)
Now I'm reusing the script in another application that has multiple sets of dropdowns (but only 1 that the script needs to apply to) It works fine except, all the options get jumbled up - in all the dropdowns.
The script is a little beyond my level of javascript - I think largely because it doesn't use 'sensible' variable names so its quite hard to follow. How can I modify the script to not mess up the order (most importantly of the other dropdowns that aren't having elements removed and added) Code:

I'm trying to work out a new design for my software's control panel.
The idea is that there are images on the left that you click and that
as you do, DIVs with option links appear and disappear on the right.
Because I want each of the DIVS to appear in the same place, I use
Javascript to set their padding and their height to 0px when they are
invisible. This is working the way I wish in Netscape 7.1 but it is
not working the way I want in IE. Can anyone give me a hint about why?
Basically, if a value is a member of all the arrays passed to the function, this function will add that value to a response array. The function returns the response array.
