I have written a couple of functions to open and close <ul> like a forlder tree which is working great. I have a tiny little problem. When you open and close folders the icons are not properly swapping to indicate their state. Code:
I have got this great script from the JS anthology Figure 15.13 - folder tree menu. Basically a user clicks on a section link and all the subpages are shown for that section. It is ideal for an interactive sitemap on the homepage.
However, the problem is that when the home page first loads all the links are shown and it takes about 20 seconds for the menu to close up so that only the links to section pages are shown.
Any ideas for how to make only the section pages appear immediately onload?
i want to make a module to swap ads randomly from folder named ads on the root like,, the advertising are either .swf, or .gif all that i need is to play the swf (when one is finished it starts the other one.. till the display of all swf's)..

The folder ads is supposed to have 5 ads, when it finished number 1... it start randomly until it finish displaying all the advertising swf... i dont want to display only one of the five ... but display all in a random way..may be i have to know the length of the swf (in seconds ) and when it is finished i want to display the second and third .... etc
within this page that has been created, there is an AJAX tree folder which calls another page to be loaded into a DIV by AJAX again. Code:
[Code]...
I don't know why it doesn't work because the page has been loaded with the JS file, but as soon as the link is added afterwards it doesn't work. I take it this is because it doesn't know where to find the JS, but how can I overcome this?
I am using multiple instances of the jquery datepicker on my form. Due to my CSS i could not use the icon trigger built-into jquery, it caused the icon to be displayed below the input field and i wanted it to be displayed next to the text. Below is the code for one of my input fields.
[Code]...
I have multiple date fields i want to use the datepicker with. The issues i am having are; 1. when i click on the icon to display the datepicker, the picker is displayed, but it displays on the wrong icon. No matter what icon i click on it always gets displayed on only one and it is always the same one. Each field has its own unique name and id the only thing that each field shares is a class. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. My other issue is that when i click on the icon the page scrolls to the top, so if i am clicking on a picker icon at the bottom of the screen it scrolls the screen to the top.
how do I change my html/javascript so that if I drag and drop a link from a webpage to the desktop in such a way that the name of the shortcut created is not the URL of the link but the link itself?
e.g. if the link is
<a href="http://www.microsoft.com"> MS </a>
then the name of the desktop icon should be 'MS' and not http://www.microsoft.com
Originally I had the following code. What it does is for a user to type the folder name of their choice and then after clicking submit a window will pop open and they will be taken to "C:folder" (assuming the user typed "folder" and such a folder existed). Here is the code in case I wasn't clear.
i have been tryin for a long time to get both of the javascripts(for the thumbnail to main img swap and the navigational arrow swap) to work in synchit needs to be so that after clicking on a thumbnail then on an arrow, the correct image in the correct order appears. as of now they are running separately and one has no influence on the other. forgive me if im not being clear. i keep trying to replace the id that one script is looking for with the same id from the other but this will not work..why?
I am a complete novice with Javascript, but am trying to work out how I can get a button to swap to another image when clicked, and each image have a different URL attached. I want to use this to toggle the bgcolor of my page using this script:
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function createCookie(name,value,days) { if (days) { var date = new Date(); date.setTime(date.getTime()+(days*24*60*60*1000)); var expires = "; expires="+date.toGMTString(); [Code]...
What does it mean to "walk the DOM tree"? How do you use it?
I hear programmers using this term loosely and I'm not sure what it means. I understand that DOM means Document Object Module and that they are referencing the additional elements whithin (X)HTML.
I've got a bit of ajax code that loads some content into a div. What I want to do is alter the href and action of all links and forms loaded into the div.
I thought the cleanest way to do this would have been to recursively look at all the child nodes of the div, and alter the href/action of any link or form elements that I encounter, is this do-able?
I need to remove the element with the class "group" on it from the DOM tree with javascript (eventually with prototype, but no other library). I don't only want to hide that paragraph, but remove it entirely from the DOM tree. My solution to use getElementsByClassName does not work.
function hidegroup() { var group= document.getElementsByTagName("p") .getElementsByClassName("group"); group.style.display = 'none'; group.removeChild(); }
THE HTML: <div id="poems"> <div class="poem" id="d1"> <p class="group"> <a href="#">To the top of the page</a> </p></div>
We got a google maps with a bunch of pins. Each pin is setup to use our blue custom icon image. I'm trying to make it so that when you click on a pin, that particular pin changes to a green version of the icon, and all the reset stay blue. If the user clicks another pin, it turns green and the previous goes back to blue.Basicly only the clicked active pin should be green.
Here is my code so far that will change the clicked pin into a green version.My problem is all attempts to change all pins back to blue prior to changing this clicked pin to green fails bad.
You'll see a google map there, created with this jQuery plugin. Although I've used the plugin on several occasions without any trouble, this time the map's .png icon/marker cannot be made transparent.
I've tried several things (removing my reset.css file, adding a js png- transparency fix, fiddling with the plugin options) but nothing works...
I'm currently moddifying a simple menu tree script, into a way of showing more info, when clicking a headline. It is beginning to work allmost a i want i to, but when i use my own stylesheet, the area of the menutree is shown as a table.
