Submitting Two FORM Variables By Only Selecting One Dropdown?
Feb 14, 2010
I'm looking for a JavaScript solution that will allow me to submit two separate hidden variables by only selecting one dropdown field from a HTML submission form.
Each option of the dropdown field contains two data values: quantity and price. I'm selling some products online and I'd like to have different prices based on the quantity of the product order.
Below is the code that I was thinking, though it's not functional... just wanted you to understand what I'm looking for!
Basically the user selects the desired quantity, and after his submission the form will pass me the quantity and the price from the dropdown field in TWO SEPARATE hidden variables.
I have several such products on a single HTML page, so the solution should be capable of working with multiple product forms on the same page. It's also important that I have only ONE dropdown field, plus the submission button. Nothing else really.
I have code for autosuggestion while typing in a text box written in Javascript and PHP. When I start typing a number I get a list of matching numbers and I'm able to select one of them with the mouse click. Now I have an other text box which should display a list of numbers based on the selection from the first textbox.
On selecting abc(a) in first dropdown the 'a' must get selected in second dropdown,on selecting cde(b) second dropdown must have 'b' and so on,also the second dropdown value should be disabled(grayed out) for user.Need the code in javascript.
I have a drop down with alot of options say about 6000 cities and districts. I need to select all options if user selects "All checkbox". I use "on change" and a for loop to do this, but it takes a lot of time to select all these options. Is there any faster way to select all these options?
function selectAll() { var element = document.getElementById("location"); var length = document.getElementById("location").length;
So I've got some simple javascript functions to set dropdown selections based on index. But I've also have a field that needs to be selected based on its text (possibly value, but text would be better).The current code is really just based around this line:document.getElementById("Option3")[myOption1].selected = true;and what I'm looking for is:document.getElementById("Option3").getIndexByText("TheSelectorText").selected = true;Is there a built in function for this? Has anyone implemented it? I searched google and there didn't seem to be any standout answers.
I have up to 3 dropdown lists that I can select using javascript functions. Depending on what I select in the first dropdown loads what is in the 2nd drop down and so on. i want to be able to select the first drop down and it skips the 2nd one and displays the 3rd one. How do I do that with the current functions I am using.
function cboSourceChange(){ var iSource = document.frmHarvestForm.cboSource.options[document.frmHarvestForm.cboSource.selectedIndex].value;
This one should be easy. In fact, it was working for a long time as far as I know. Then I upgraded from jQuery 1.4.4 to 1.7.1 and a few things stopped working. (This is according to my client; it's possible it's been broken for a long time.)
So a customer logs in and sees his/her registration information. Name, address, phone number, etc... It gets this information from a MySQL database. For the customer's home address, there's a dropdown for the state (MA, NH, etc...) Rather than displaying the default specified in the HTML code, I have a bit of jQuery code that is supposed to change the dropdown selection to the user's home state as stored in the MySQL database.
Unfortunately, nothing happens. It rather than changing to the user's home state, it just displays the default state (AL, the first alphabetically).
[Code]..
I verified that $row['state'] contains valid data by outputting it as HTML on the page (my test data outputs "MA"). And I'm reasonably sure that this used to work in the past.
I want to be able to post to a page, and one of the post values, auto selects one of the values in a drop-down box.So say i post a value 'Red' from a field called 'Colors' to a form, I would like 'Red' to be automatically selected in the 'Colors' select dropdown list.I am working with dropdown lists of many values, so need a way to automate this selection.
I have two text fields one is TECH field and another is JOB NUMBER... If I type a number in the tech field and If I select a number from the autopopulated/autosuggested list of tech number(which is queried from the database) it should display a dropdown list of JOBNUMBERS associated to that particular TECH number. The TECH is not a Primary key in database)
This is the code that I have to fetch the and the tech number will be the autosuggest field for which I have used JQUERY..
how to popup submit button while selecting item from the dropdown list. i had completed the task of displaying textfield while selecting item from the dropdown list but unable to figure out how to popup the submit button with textfield while an item is selected from the dropdown list.

Is it possible to pull multiple variables from a single dropdown menu selection?
Example: I have this: function material_choices_menu() /* Provides Specific Gravity for various materials */{ var data = "Material <select name='material'>"; data += "<option value='.926'>CYCOLAC MG47 (ABS)</option>"; data += "<option value='1.050'>CYCOLAC MG47MD (ABS)</option>"; data += "<option value='.958'>CYCOLAC T (ABS)</option>"; data += "</select>"; document.write(data); }
I'd like to have multiple option values: function material_choices_menu() /* Provides Specific Gravity for various materials */{ var data = "Material <select name='material'>"; data += "<option value1='.926', option value2='.005-.008'>CYCOLAC MG47 (ABS)</option>"; data += "<option value1='1.050', option value2='.005-.008'>CYCOLAC MG47MD (ABS)</option>"; data += "<option value1='.958', option value2='.005-.008'>CYCOLAC T (ABS)</option>"; data += "</select>"; document.write(data); }
I plan to use the first value in some math formulas to determine weights and the rest of the values will just be shown as data for the user and/or possibly a link to the datasheet for the material selected.
I'm having trouble changing the font color of my labels ONLY when I stop the form from submitting due to blank fields. I'm not sure whether if just changing my CSS will achieve what I want, or am I going to have to add somethig to my if else statement, or both? I would think I would need to change CSS to :
label.onfocus { color:red; }
but a little confused on what else.

I'm handling a form submission event. Is there a way to modifiy the value of a text input within the form before the form is finally submitted? I tried setting the value using, 'val()' - it updated the text field but the value sent with the POST was the original value
I have a form. Upon submit, the data is sent to the server. Under certain conditions, the form is replaced via ajax with a set of radio buttons that offer the user a a choice.I need to access the radio buttons before I submit the form again.Normally I could just access the buttons with getelementbyid but it is not available, presumably because they were generated via ajax.I could submit the form just to access the radio buttons and then submit it again, but I'd like to avoid that.
I am trying to submit a form in frame2 after I submit a form in frame1. Here's what i have but its not working. It's not even reloading frame2's page.: Code:
I have two frames. Frame "search" contains a search form specifying an onsubmit action like so:
<form ... ... </form>
The other frame contains a <img ... where the perform_search function is defined as follows:
<script language="JavaScript"> function perform_search() { var frame = parent.frames.search; var form = frame.document.forms.mainForm; form.submit(); } </script>
Now, when hitting Return in the search form, then foo() is called fine. But when clicking on the <img ... in the other frame, foo() is NOT called.
Is expclicitly calling foo() from perform_search() the only way to do it, or is there a magic incantation that might do what I want?
I'm supporting an ASP legacy application and need to implement "autosave" functionality. I have two frames, one that holds tabs displaying different pages a user can select, and the other that holds the page content itself. If a user clicks on another tab without clicking the Submit button, I want to submit the current form for them and do some further processing.
The problem is that top.framename.formname.submit() only works sporadically. Sometimes the document object of the page frame does not exist. Is there any way to "guarantee" that the document object will exist? Has anyone ever encountered this problem or have any suggestions?
I want a customized button with an image for the submit button, and when the submit button has been clicked send the form to the perl script.
Now the form is no problem but the button is, so the question is how do I create a custom button and how do I submit the form with javascript when the button is clicked?
There is a problem with submitting # from the form. Some content get truncated and some variables disappear after submitting. Take a look at the following code and try to fill both fields with: TEST#TEST#TEST
I'm trying to submit form data to mysql. The POST form action calls the .js file, which make a request to the http server, which connects to the database, executes a php script via URL and submits data to be entered. The php script executes inserting data into database, then redirects the page following execution of script. After, submitting the form, the page redirection in the php script works but no data is entered. Trying to figure out why. Here is my httpRequest.
Code:
function submitPrefs() { var URL = './PHP/submitPrefs.php'; var xmlhttp=false;
