View 6 RepliesI am new to Javascript and I downloaded JSE internal search engine v 1.0a from CodingForums. It works fine in all browsers other than ie6 and ie7. Have confirmed that other javascripts are working in these browsers so it is not my browser settings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow would you create a text field that allows users to select different search engines, and then search their keyword. Essentially what I'm looking for is a something similar to the default multiple search field that you see in Firefox and Safari.At this point in time I have the multiple search feature implemented. But all I really have is a <select> next to a <input>. What I want is something that combines the two. Basically I want the look and feel of Firefox/Safari default multiple search field.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if the <input type="search" /> has the capability of adding search engines to the end of the drop down list. In Safari if you click on the magnifying glass on the search box, you'll see search engines at the very bottom. I'm wondering if I can do that to my webpage using <input type="search" />, but having my own search engines specified.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been the last few days around a script that I can't make it work. This script is a search engine, when you look for something say the word "titanic", it shows you a list of results with numbers, being the first link with the higher number (kinda like a score), and then after u click the link you want he goes to the respective page. Now I want him to skip the results page, and directly open the first link that he founds on the page.
The Script
<!-- Begin
var item = new Array();
// Just enter as many additional pages that you want to search, then fill in he additional listings for each page.
// "Page Name","path","Page Title","Many,Key,Words","Descriptive Comments"
c=0; item[c]=new Array("centerif.htm","","titanic","index,main,start,home,front","Demonstration search engine data about an imagined but probable internet site."); .....
Website for a external search engine for your website, or give me a HTML code or CSS code?

i have a free js script for a search engine, pretty simple, i define the key words and the .html associated to them. But when i enter a word he starts listing the matches he found and rate them by number, being the highest number the most probable match!
Now what i want to is to SKIP the listing, and redirect automatically for the .html of the first match he finds .
The script:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two js scripts running on my project at the moment, one is uses mootools and the other uses jquery-1.2.3min, both work but not if they are on the same page.The mootool adds the pop out effect to a form box and the jquery enables the nav switch for 2 boxes that contain different form fields for a search engine. Now I've been reading up on the two and have decided to favour jquery which means I have to reproduce the same effect in mootool but with my limited knowledge it's proven rather hard.The mootool code:
var isExtended = 0;
var height = 165;
var width = 240;

I just wanted to know if I have a text document that contains html code,how would I search through the code and retrieve all the data related to the search. i.e. by creating a search engine. The problem I face is if the format of the tag names change in the html txt document then it won't work. Therfore using DOM to retrieve the text would fail. Is there anything other than DOM that I can use to parse through the text document, so even if the code changed the search engine would still work.The aim is to search through a html "text document" and retrieve the data that the user wants.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use this script:
<script>
function QuickSearch() {
var name=document.forms[0].name;
var tempdesc=document.forms[0].tempdesc;
if (name.value="780-06") {
tempdesc.value = 'Women`s Princess Cut Vest|882'
}
else if (name.value="RA32R") {
tempdesc.value = 'Womens Rib Hoody with contrast piping|2290'
}
else if (name.value="75007") {
tempdesc.value = 'WOMENS SLEEVELESS POLO|812'
}
else if (name.value="") {
tempdesc.value = ''
}}
</script>
<form>
<input type="text" name="name" value="" onblur='QuickSearch()' />
<input type="text" name="tempdesc" value="" size="45" />
</form>
to do a simple javascript search, I want to be able to enter say "RA32R" in the name box, and have the description come up, my problem is that it seems to just jump to the first value, even when nothing has been entered into the name field.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a website I created using a wysiwig builder. I can edit the code myself as well. Here's what I'd like to set up:
Background music that starts automatically.
A small button (my own graphic) so user can switch music off.
It would be great if they could toggle off/on.
Music is mp3, but could be converted.
No browser specific suggestions please. Must be universal.
I would like to embed the search results of the Google books search into my website. It should be like Google News elements widget supplied by google itself. I need to have results and not the custom search box.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a very simple search-type page to enable users to input a model number and its page appears in a inline frame. Its not a true search as it is simply relying on a person entering the correct html page name to find it. But this works perfectly in my application.The problem I have is that I cannot get the type box to accept enter key as a submitt, only a click of the mouse will submitt the request. If enter is pressed the box loses the users input but no action is taken.I think this may be a javascript issue. I have posted the code below.

I am using a simple prototype slideshow and a more comprehensive jquery slideshow on my website.When these are used on the same webpage on my website there appears to be a collision: (For example)Code:element.attachEvent is not a function[Break on this error] element.attachEvent("on" + actualEventName, responder); How can I avoid the conflict without reverting to a new slideshow?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a search field on the website, and when I type a word to search, it search good, but after preforming the search, the search term from search text field disappears and become the default 'Search' word.
How can I make search term stay in search field after preforming a search ? For example, when I type into the search field 'JavaScript' I want that term to stay in search field and after the search is done.
Is there any implementation of the javascript engine that can be run
in a jailed environement?
Does anybody know of a utility that will return the output of javascript code? Preferably it needs to be usable from the command line in Linux. I want the utility to output something like this:
<ul>
<li>1
<li>2
<li>3
</ul>
From this:
<script>
document.write('<ul>');
for (i=1;i<=3;i++) {
document.write('<li>' + $i);
}
document.write('</ul>');
</script>
While attempting to create a greasemonkey script in FF2 (don't ask), I discovered that the "let" statement was causing my code to fail. After confirming that this statement has been available since FF2 (js engine 1.7) [URL] became curious as one determines their javascript engine in FF. IE has a way to inspect the jscript engine, ala [URL] but I couldn't find anything similar for FF. Feel free to list links for testing engines in other browsers,
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am just curious. It seems at this point of time Sizzle rules. Still I would like to know what other frameworks are using.
