Apr 15, 2011I have set up a script on my page which automatically reads the files in a specific directory on the server and displays them in a nice file tree on my website so users can download the files. However, the root folder where the files are stored is not the directory you would go to to access the actual files.

I need to 'parse' that url and force it to download the file from:

How To Display A Directory Tree In A Select List?
Mar 15, 2007I've got a select list which lets you select from a list of directories. Currently it is completely normal, just lists each directory, and its subdirectories all in the same way. I'd like to have a list that lets you see all the top level directories, and click little pluses next to them to see their subdirectories, then click the minus to hide the subdirectories, etc....But inside an html select list or something similar.

Jul 12, 2010Is it just looking for the default label:value items in the json to put in the list? Is there a way to specify what you want in the list as the label and value?I've looked over the ui docs for it, but can't seem to find an answer, that or I don't know what I should be looking at.
I've got it working (populating the list with correct number of values, putting values in the field after select), it just doesn't display the options correctly.
Showing/hiding A List When A Checkbox Is Clicked?
Apr 15, 2004I have a form, what I want to happen is that a user clicks a checkbox and a list appears or is enabled so that the user can then select a option. Also when the checkbox is unchecked again, I want the list to disapear or become unabled and it's value set back to whatever was the default.
After a bit of looking around I thought I has done it, but no luck. Can anyone let me know whats going on here? Code:
Mailing List - Opens A Blank Windows Email With The Correct Address Filled In
Dec 14, 2010I am developing a website as part of a university project and I have been trying to integrate the java script mailing list from this website into a page. [URL] The only modification I have made is to change the mailto address to my email. When I test the script it just opens a blank windows email with the correct address filled in. Is this because I am working on a copy on my hard drive? If I were to upload this to a server would it work correctly or would I have to modfiy the code in any way.

Sep 15, 2009I've built a tool where users can search for something & the results show up in a select list as selectable options..... sometimes the results can take a few seconds to load depending on how many results there are... so I was attempting to show some "Results are loading" text when they search, & then hide it when they are displayed.
However for some reason it's not working correctly.. both commands don't appear to work until the select list options have loaded & hence rendering them redundant.... I have tried putting them inside separate functions but no change in the behavior.
What basically happens is I press the button to search & it searches & once the results show up so does the loading text.... however if I include the hide text command then the text doesn't show at all as it's hidden as soon as it's shown.
Here is the code I am using..

Child Windows Can Not Access Window.opener When Multiple Child Windows Are Open

with the following code :

This pops up a new window with every call. In the child window I call
a parent function onbeforeunload, appClose() :

This is in my frameset tag of the child code :

The window.opener.CloseChild() function is called perfectly when I have
one child window open, but as soon as I create another child window
both of the open child windows don't ever call it. They do both go
into the onbeforeunload appClose() function, but do not call the
window.opener.CloseChild() function inside of this routine.
Anyone have any ideas why when I have two child windows open I can't
access the window.opener functions?
I have tried taking each new window out of the array and used the
following code in CloseChild() :

Oct 12, 2007I've got a bit of ajax code that loads some content into a div. What I want to do is alter the href and action of all links and forms loaded into the div.
I thought the cleanest way to do this would have been to recursively look at all the child nodes of the div, and alter the href/action of any link or form elements that I encounter, is this do-able?

Remove P Tag From DOM Tree
May 19, 2011I need to remove the element with the class "group" on it from the DOM tree with javascript (eventually with prototype, but no other library). I don't only want to hide that paragraph, but remove it entirely from the DOM tree. My solution to use getElementsByClassName does not work.

Why do I have two variables loading the xml doc? The first appears to work, but the second (xmlGroups) does not. Every time I try and get the Name attribute from the MemberProvider node, it throws getElementsByTagName("MemberProvider")[0].getAttribute("name"); is null or not an object.

I am working on the largest web project of my career and the programming is a little over my head to a relatively new designer...so any help or suggestions would be great.
