Showing Javascript Code Outputs In Textarea?

Mar 3, 2006

I'm having a problem showing the output of this code in the textfield.

<html>
<head>

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
var url = document.URL;
-->
</script>

</head>
<body>

<textarea style="overflow: auto;" rows="1" cols="70" wrap="off" readonly>
<script language="JavaScript">document.write(url);</script>
</textarea>

<br><br>

<script language="JavaScript">document.write(url);</script>

</body>
</html>

The output isn't showing the browsers current URL which is the desired effect, instead it is only showing the raw JavaScript code.

JavaScript In HTML: Unexpected Outputs

Jul 23, 2005

I'm learning/experimenting with some simple JS/html markup, running
an apache daemon and mozilla firefox browser in RH 9.

Let's say I run the following markup with one or more of lines 6-10
commented out:

1 <html>
2 <head>
3 <script type="text/javascript">
4 function showinfo()
5 {
6 width = window.screen.availWidth;
7 document.write("<br>screen width=
");
8 document.write(width);
9 document.write("<br>Date: ");
10 document.write(Date());
11 }
12 </script>
13 </head>
14 <body onload="showinfo()">
15 <p>

My question: is there a simple explanation to account for the 'unexpected'
behaviours below (Runs 1, 3, 5)?

Run 1: nothing in 6-10 commented out; output (expected more):

screen width=

Run 2: line 7 commented out; output (as expected):

1024
Date: Wed Apr 14 2004 20:55:58 GMT-0400 (EDT)

Run 3: lines 7, 9, 10 commented out; output (as expected, but unfinished loading):

1024
[ongoing hourglass indicating loading in progress]

Run 4: lines 7, 10 commented out; output (as expected):

1024

Run 5: lines 7-9 commented out; output (as expected, but unfished loading):

Date: Wed Apr 14 2004 22:46:49 GMT-0400 (EDT)

Firebug Showing Obfuscated Code?

Oct 24, 2010

I noticed on the "script" menu for firebug when I click "show static and eval scripts" you can see my entire JS code un-obfuscated by firebug. The default option is just "show static scripts" which shows my code as it is - obfuscated.I was quite frankly horrified to discover this after shelling out on software to protect my work. Does anyone have any idea how I can stop firebug from showing this? Is it because im calling eval a couple times throughout the script?

Showing Invalid Character Error From Dynamic Drive Code / Sort It?

May 5, 2009

I am trying to use Accordion Content script v1.7 from DynamicDrive.com on some pages. I have set up a test page to show the error messages. I have changed the doctype of the page several times, including the exact one they use on the sample/instruction page on DD, but no luck. It is also throwing an error of undefined var ddaccordion, which is defined in ddaccordion.js, which is the JS file that goes with sample page , which is located in the same directory.

Highlight HTML Code In Textarea

Aug 4, 2005

I have a PHP/MySQL-based content management system that alows one to edit pages of a website through form textareas. I was wondering if it is possible to change the appearance of HTML tags inside the textarea so the HTML markup looks different (e.g., in grey), making it easier to quickly find and edit the 'real' content without messing up the tag (like accidentally deleting a '>' character).

Put IFRAME Source Code Into Textarea

Jun 27, 2006

I would you grab the source code from an IFRAME and display it in a textarea?

I'm trying to create a sort of preview page that both shows a rendered page, then shows the source code next to it.

[edit]: I'm thinking that using OnLoad JS event in the HTML body tag would allow this to work. The page loads, the OnLoad event calls a JS function that pulls the innerHTML from the IFRAME and inserts it into the textarea.

AJAX :: Reading+Processing PHP File Outputs?

Apr 15, 2011

I have resorted to using a forum after 2 days of head scratching. What I need is some script to monitor the output of a php file that outputs "yes" or "no" depending on weather it is your turn in a multiplayer game.I would like it to just check every few seconds (in order to not crash the server) if it has changed. While the PHP file is showing "yes" I want it to show some buttons to make a move and when it is showing "no" for it to just say something like "enemy's turn". I hear that this kind of thing could be achieved with jQuery and AJAX but I have never used JavaScriptI already feel like I'm making a big ask but if you don't mind I would also like a way of submitting your move to a php file to make the move (submitting something to MySql)

Split Email Address And Get Two Alert Outputs?

Oct 11, 2010

domain = inEmail.substr(atPosition+1, stringLength);
return username ;
return domain;
}emailIn = prompt("Enter username@domain", "Doe@Jane");
alert (convert (inEmail))

Showing/hiding Tables W/ Javascript

Nov 4, 2006

I finally found code that actually works. I click on the button, and the table disappears. I click on the button again, and it reappears. Like magic! I have two problems still.

(1) When I click on the table, it disappears, but the space that it was in is still empty. When it retracts, I want the rest of the text to retract with it (not disappearing text--i.e. have the text occupy the space where the table was, and move back when the table reappears. note: the text is directly below the table); otherwise, what is the point of a show/hide button? It's meant to save some space.

(2) I want the text of the show/hide button to change to "Show" when the table is not present. Code:
