I am trying to use javascript to hide a div before the page loads. Unfortunately for a brief second I can see the div on the page before the java script hide it. Is there anyway to set the javascript to hide the div before the page completely loads?
<script type="text/javascript" src="prototype.lite.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="moo.fx.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="moo.fx.pack.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var forgotpass = document.getElementsByClassName('forgotpass');
window.onload = function() {
forgotpass = new fx.Combo('forgotpass', {height: true, opacity: true, duration: 500});
// Hide Div
forgotpass.hide();
}
</script>
P.S. I'm using the hide function within the moo.fx.js file found @ http://moofx.mad4milk.net/. If there is an easier way to di by just write the javascript out in the onload function please let me know.

I need to see if I can shorten this AND see if I can have a "show all option" added.The page is setup like so.. I have the following javascript working.. I'm running jquery... being a semi newbie it took a while to get this running.I have 4 DISTINCT queries that load up select boxes.There are 4 select boxes .. on change, the queries will see what option was selected and re-run DISTINCT SQL queries so all the select boxes only have related info.. so no one ends up with a "zero" results.I'm hiding these to help walk through in a logical order. However I need to1) Have a show all and let them select anything they wish and show all 4 boxes. How can I add a "show all" to the script below2) I noticed on page load the boxes show and then slowly hide. THis looks messy.. how can I alter that?3) This seems long for what I'm doing.. is there a way I can shorten this code? What if I expand to 8 boxes.. then I'll have 8 simple if statements.. but it seems unnecessary.CODE that is working is
$(document).ready(function () {
if ($("#pMaterial option").is(":selected"))
{
[code].....

I have a function that uses the ajax load function to post off some parameters and fill a div with the returned content after a db query has been run to create it. This all works fine, however I would like to be able to replace the div with a loading graphic whilst the content
is generated. I assumed this was done by placing the graphic at the start of the function, then using a callback function to remove it and display the actual data once it has been fully generated...
However when I trey to implement this I am getting a strange result in that the callback fires before the content is generated. So my loading graphic disappears and then the content appears sometimes 10 seconds later. How can I ensure the call back only executes once the new content is
ready to be displayed ??
Here's my code ...
function get_report(){
// Hide #report_here div and show loading graphic here ...
$("#report_here").load("/admin/reports/statistics_report/", {
// Parameters sent go here
}, finished()
);
function finished() {
// Hide loading graphic and show #report_here div here ...
}

I have been writing a script and need a gallery image to have it's width set on page load. My script works fine in safari, ff, chrome..but IE seems to ignore the line that sets the width of the image. It doesn't seem to be ignoring the other widths that are being set on certain divs. So it seems it is an image-only problem.
I thought it best to post a link to the page. To see the problem, you will have to have your browser set smaller than 885px in height. It's line 90 that seems to be ignored by IE

in this example: $(el).load('/data_url', function() { alert('loaded') } );
will the alert be called after the html fragment has been loaded into el and all its elements are available to access or is the callback just after the ajax call has finished ?

I am experiencing unexpected behavior using $(document).ready() on a page where I inject jQuery after the page has loaded and then attach listeners to the ready event. The ready() event is never called using Firefox and Safari however it is called using IE. Is this a jQuery bug? Is it working as designed?

Basically, I have an element I want to hide before it is shown when a condition is met. For reference, it's checking whether a particular radio button is selected. if ($('[name="'+q1110.name+'"][value="'+q1110.value+'"]:not([checked])')) $('#_divhide').hide(1, function () { q1110.toggle = false; }); Right now, only in IE 6, it shows that element for a split second, then hides it. I don't want it shown at all unless the radio button is checked. As usual, I can't manipulate anything in HTML unless it's done through JS.
Also, the slideUp and slideDown functions don't work properly in IE 6. They do hide and show, but the animation isn't smooth. The element disappears and reappears without any animated effects. It's kind of a bummer since it works perfectly in FF 3.6.

I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
page.html
<script type="text/javascript">
loadGoogleStuff();
function loaded() {
console.debug("in loaded function");
}
[Code]...
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.

I am a middleware developer for a design and manufacturing software. We recently have gone from using Crystal reports to using xml based reporting. I am just begining to write reports using xsl, css and java script and transforming to html. The report I am working on has several tables each in a separate div. These tables are populated based on the xml file output form a job file. Base on job settings one or more tables may have no information in them. What I would like to do is hide the divs with empty tables when the page is loaded. I have looked through the forums here and on other sites and have found perhaps hundreds of examples of java script for showing and hiding divs with user input or by being set to a hide state by default. However I need it to be more dynamic.

I'd like to have a show/hide widget on my web site, kind of like "show
details" / "hide details" in Google Groups. Is there a tutorial
explaining how to make them? Google's is a bit complex and it's easy to
get something wrong. If the browser does not support the required
features, I want it to generate a completely static page with the
"details" shown automatically.

When the user clicks on second link I want to hide all the other divs and show only second. Similarly when the user clicks third link I want to show third div only. You get the idea. Here is what I have so far. Nothing happens when I click the second link.

Basically, I need a link that gives the user an option to show the rest of an article, and then a link UNDER the rest of the article to hide a post again. The link needs to work uniquely with each link. Every method I've used so far has worked for one post, and on the next post, when the link is clicked, it just shows the rest of the first post.

onload="document.getElementById("hidepage").style.visibility="hidden";"

I'm trying to get jQuery to hide jCarousel images while they load using the following code. It actually worked at one point but refuses to now (which makes me think it's a minor syntax issue). '#carousel' is the containing ul element. You can see I've tried it a few different ways. No errors appeared in Chrome's debugging console. "show('slow')" doesn't work either...
Code:
/* Hide jCarousel
*/
// $('.jcarousel-container').css('visibility', 'hidden');
// $('#carousel').css('visibility', 'hidden');

I would like to add some javascript to show/hide a certain row of a
table. The first row of the table contain the hyperlink that calls the
javascript the second row is the one i want to show/hide with the
javascript in a toggle fashion.
the problem is a know very little javascript and have become incredibly
frustrated because i went ahead thinking it was going to be like C. its not.
I know i can use these lines to do the actual work:
document.getElementById("row").style.display = "none"; // hides row
document.getElementById("row").style.display = "inline"; // shows row
but I don't think i can use a getElementById exactly because i want to
reference the element via its relationship to the hyperlink that calls
the javascript, i know this can be done. You see there will be several
tables on one page and i want to be able to toggle each one
independently; hopefully with the same bit of javascript.
