Searching Multidimensional Arrays By String Match And Returning Elements In Row?
May 26, 2011
I need to be able to match a particular element in a "row" of a multidimensional array, and then find and reference the other elements in that "row".
Below is a sample of the whole array...
Code:
var commercialProductList=new Array(
new Array("Sydney Automobiles - Online","Sydney_Automobiles_Online","users",60.39,3.02,1.21),
new Array("Sydney Automobiles - Hard
I have a piece of JS code that uses the eBay REST API for searching. Each item returned is converted to an array and added to another array, giving the following format:
how would one post a multidimensional array to a php script. The ajax section on here in the docs... only show how you would pass just one array. I need to pass a multidimensional arrays to my php scripts.
I am working on a project which requires a method to join or split multidimensional arrays according to its arguments, which would be string delimiters for the various dimensions of the array.
An example of the join function might be:
The split function:
This would turn 'str' into an array like this:
I think I may have found the problem (but not the solution) - it looks as though javascript won't perform a method on an array which is part of another array. Firefox error console gives me "arr[0].join is not a function".
I'm got an application that uses (will use) 6 drop down boxes to filter through items stored in an array, if I can get a search system sorted out.At the minute i've tried a range of ways and I can't suss this out. At the minute its counting the number of entries that match the filter criteria but its not even getting that 100% right.I've tried using one big if statment 'if condition 1 && condition 2 && condition3 = true then' etc. I've tried nested ifs. t the moment I thought I'd try to dump the values of servos into a new array, that meet the criteia of the first if, then using another if, create another array and repeat this until only the servos that meet all 6 if conditions are stored inside one array that i can then set to display on screen. if there are no matches then i can display a 'none found' messageHeres my code, hopefully its commented enough to follow whats happening,
I'm unable to get the value from the array i've created. Here is the code. basically what i'm trying to do is check the url address, and save that into a variable and then call that variable to lookup a value in an array.
So if the url was http://localhost/dma/505/ then the function would look at the address bar, set the 505 to a variable then use that variable to look up the dma name in the array. The last part is where i'm having issues. Code:
I have a simple example below showing how when I pass in the value of the value attribute of option node, and then use if operator to check whether parameter is a string or not, even though it's a string, it converts it to false boolean and triggers the else statement rather than calling a function.callback should be a string so why is it saying otherwise?
I am trying to search an array for a string and then if it is found alert it. I have found examples of how to iterate the array and how to use .IndexOf to return a true false statement as to whether the array includes the string, but i don't know what to do after that and how to display the string if its found.
I am working on a little project where I have a form that allows a user to input a sentence that will be sorted alphabetically when they click sort. The result should be displayed in the Output box at the bottom. Then They should be able to enter a string that will be search from the previous sentence entered and that search will display in the output as well. Then last they should be able to enter in a replacement string; however, I have not done much reading on that so I am completely clueless there.
I thought I would start with the small stuff and last I would work on the replacement string. So I have the form done, but I seem to be struggling with the functions. I think I should use aname.sort to sort the words in ABC order. I am wondering if I am just completely off on how I am trying to do all of this. Any tips would be great, just to maybe point me in the right direction. Code:
How would one search for more than one one simultaneously? I have this function:
var flix = ["Any items left unattended on this table" , "Hello, World"];
function Multiwords(s){ var a = flix[0].toLowerCase(); var b = s.toLowerCase(); var result = a.indexOf(b) if (result >= 0)
[Code]...
It's pretty basic, it just searches through the first index of var flix and tells me if the parameter (s) is 'found' or 'not found'. I made it not to be case sensitive. However, how would I search for multiple words for example:
Multiwords("ANY items This") and if any combination of 'ANY' or 'items' or 'This' is found, i still get my alert message of 'Found'?
I'm trying to create a script where all the hyperlinks in a page will be replaced with a new set of coding before it. (e.g: a href="this.htm?http://www.google.com").
My code generates this change through a series of random numbers and only runs the script when "2" is the generated number (out of 12). Now, I only know how to replace all occurrences of "href" in all "a" tags, but there are times when I use Javascript to launch new windows or even javascript to navigate to the top of a page.
I tried to use a string match method to search for occurrences of "javascript:" and so forth, but I can't seem to get it working. Code:
How do I extract "somestring" only? I'm on IE7. <script type="text/javascript"> var x = "(EVAL)(H:somestring)Some other Text here"; var full =(x.match(/(H:(.*?))/g)); // produces "(H:somestring)" as expected alert(full); var inside = (x.match(/(H:(.*))/)); // produces "(H:somestring),somestring" .. I only want "somestring" alert(inside); </script>
How would i use a wildcard in String.match()? For example, I would like to see if a variable contains www.*.com, where the * can be replaced with anything. How could i go about doing that?
I want to check a string if it contains certain letters.the string is Elephant and if i check it for the letter "e" i want it to display all the "e" letters.If i use the following code it always just displays the first "e". but i want to display all the "e".
I need to find out if a string contains any of the following wildcard "@#!%^&*~". If exists, then the string is invalid. Instead of using indexOf each one of the wildcard, what else can do this easier?
I am trying to figure out how to set up my reg exp search so that the search will only match on the exact word.
Here is the current problem code:
Word1 = "RealPlayer.exe" Word2 = "Player.exe"
RegExp re = Word2; if (re.Find(Word1)) { bFound = TRUE; }
Currently the bFound is set to TRUE since "Player.exe" is found within "RealPlayer.exe". But I only want bFound to be TRUE is if the entire word matches.
I need a regexp function which makes a match when the string contains <img...AND the img tag above dows NOT contain a certain path Here is what I have:
<imgs.*(src).+>
This matches if my string contains "<img .....src.....>" (the dots can be anything, I dont care). However, after the "src" part and before the ....
i currently have a problem which i cant resolve and i cant seem to find a solution (i actually not sure what to look for). My jquery level is medium-low and im trying to take it to a higher level right now.
I have a var which holds a href value. However i only need part of the string.
I am trying to do a pattern match and check something in a condition but cant get it to work. The first value changes and I need to check and do something if I get a hit on it.
Code: var mydata = "?first=one&second=two&third=three"; if (mydata.indexOf("first") == "something") { alert("No Hit"); } else { alert("Hit"); }
Basically I am trying to find out if first is equal to one in the mydata string. My above attempt is not working.
