I'm not sure why I'm having problems with this but if I try to retrieve the
value of a readonly text form I get back that the object is undefined.
The reason the text is readonly is because it's a date which I set via a
calendar javascript program (associated with a button) only so the user
can't put something silly in requiring validation.
The form send the data correctly when submitted it just doesn't seem to be
able to be read.
On blur of field1, field2 is set to READONLY but the cursor on my page then defaults to field2 and the cursor is at the END of the value and when the user clicks the backspace button the value can be erased. I would like the ability to have the cursor move to the next NON-READONLY or ENABLED field on the page. Is that do-able with jQuery?
In my program, I have GMap logic that outputs location information to a disabled input field (was previously a label). Then, when a user clicks on a link (to start a new map), I want to save the location data to an array prior to server processing. So, onchange, save the input field's value to array[last_click]. But, because this field is hidden (or readonly) I am not sure how to go about this.
Would u pls let me know whether the following is possible or not: User can be able to insert text on a text-box or text-area(form) as usually we use text-area to do so. But I want to put some readonly text using an open and close tag
for example: <ro>This is readonly text</ro>insert your text here Can I be able to make the text inside <ro>..</ro> tag readonly, it means user can't be able to modify or delete this readonly text. readonly text length not fixed. only way to recognize the readonly text is the <ro> tag.
If I try to access the value of this dynamically generated field (i.e. $("#field").val()), I don't have any value returned. I understand this may be because jquery doesn't detect it as being a part of the DOM or something along those lines.
I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right
For a personal project, I want to see if I can make a Greasemonkey userscript (or eventually a Firefox add-on) to list how far a certain ad on Craigslist is from where the user is (by the city listed beside the ad). My question is really just looking for ideas on how I can parse out the city's from the webpage text (with javascript or some other language?). Not even sure if this is possible.
The city's or ads aren't their own div elements or anything (nothing can ever be so simple) - but the city's listed are formatted by <font size="-1"></font>, and each ad is in it's own paragraph tag.. maybe I can use that somehow?
I am fairly new to javascript and I am wondering how I would load a text file that has a JSON formatted array stored in it?I can pass the array directly to the page via php though I want to be able to store the data and save on calls to the database and of course load the data dynamically to the page.
I am trying to create a javascript form validation that will make a text field be required only if a previous text field is populated. If the first text field is blank, then the second field can be blank as well.
I'm developing a web page. It includes 2 text boxes. One text box for city and another text box for std code. I wrote the code for auto suggestion to city. Now i want to pre populate the STD code when ever a known city is selected (when city is selected from the recommendations displayed for city field).
I am trying to make some dynamic effect to a HTML page using JQuery.<br/> 1.<br/> When the user clicks a Radio field, the field will be highlighted.<br/> 2.<br/> When the user clicks the Radio 'Man', <br/>a Input text box will be provided immeditely just below it.
Here is my simple HTML page, but I don't know how to do with the JQuery part:
I have a text field, call it income, that when the input is > 0 I need to dynamically show the next text box, and if it is blank hide the next text box. I would like to use onBlur but can't seem to get it to work.
I have created a html purchase request form that people will fill out and submit to make purchase requests within my company. In this html form, I have a text field that is automatically populated when the page is pulled up. The text field is populated with the name of the person who is logged in and it is read only so they cannot be deceitful or anything. To get to this HTML Request form, you must log in through a webclient thus the server knows to populate your name because you are the one logged in. The text field populates because of its <input NAME = "OBProperty_CurrentUserRealName", which is a keyword the program identifies and knows to populate with the logged in users name into that particular text field.
That works all fine and dandy, so here is where the problem lies. When submitting the overall form request, the populated name isnt being saved/ carried over to the admin page so we do not know who it was submitted by.To make the persons name carry over and save, another field name keyword must be used.
Which is OBKey__163_1. Which it was suggested to me to make that the input name of a hidden field. I need "text field A" to continue to populate the form with the persons name using OBKey_CurrentUserRealName, then pass the persons name off to a hidden field containing the input name=OBKey__164_1, which will thus save/pass the persons name on with the rest of the filled out request form when its submitted.
I want to get the cursor start and end position of a selected range in a text-field or text-area. i tried lot of functions in various forums. but when the last character of the selection is a new line character JavaScript ignore it in IE6. any one having idea ?
Have a small problem with a cms whereby when i try to insert default text into an input text field using the "value" attribute it gets deleted. I was thinking to force insert the text in there when the page load with javascript but not sure exactly how...
<p><input name="vericode" id="vericode" value="This text doesn't display!!" type="text" onclick="value=''"/></p>
I am stuck with a problem trying to mimic the behavior of a Windows Forms Readonly textbox in HMTL/ASP.NET.
Basically, I would like the text to be readonly and overflow the textbox (overflow attribute) with the user being able to scroll thru the text using the arrow keys within the textbox.
I managed to get the readonly and the overflow part to work but cannot figure out a way to let the user place the cursor within the box and allow scrolling within a readonly textbox.
In FF, this works as I would expect. When clicking on the input, the readOnly property is set to false and the focus is given to the element, with the cursor placed after the last character.
In IE, the readOnly property is set to false, but the element isn't actually given focus. Instead, I have to click on the input a second time in order to actually input text with the keyboard.
Is there a way to make this work the same in IE as it does in FF? I have tried things like calling this.focus() and this.click() after setting readOnly to false, but they have no effect.
I have need of a readonly select element that looks and acts disabled to the user. The problem with the disabled attribute is that the value isn't passed to the handler, so I'm using readonly. Problem with readonly is that is allows focus, which when the user highlights, then hits backspace (as if to change the field), the browser does a history.back. This is confusing to users. Code:
In my asp page, I have a dropdown box and 2 textbox. The dropdown has "select" as the first value. If value is select in the dropdown, i want to make the textbox as readonly, else it can be used for inputting.
I tried this:
Code:
function OnChange(dropdown) { var myindex = dropdown.selectedIndex; var SelValue = dropdown.options[myindex].value;
[Code].....
But, I am not able to set to readonly. How to make textbox readonly on the select change and body onload?
