Resolved Extracting Links With Class?

Jul 27, 2011

Trying to figure out how to use javascript to extract all links on a page that have a certain class:

e.g. - extract only links with a class of 'tools', ignore all other links:
<a href="http://www.google.com" class="tools">Search</a>
<a href="http://www.tripod.com" class="grapes">Searched</a>
<a href="http://www.dogpile.com">Searches</a>

I'm guessing I probably have to use something like getelementbyclass("tools")?

Extracting A Property From A CSS Class Using JavaScript

Dec 11, 2003

I have following css code in a html file:

<style>
.myClass { color:red; }
</style>

How can I extract the value of the property "color" from the class "myClass"?

Pseudo-code (which of course doesn't work), so you get the idea:

<input type="button" onclick"alert('The CSS color is '+document.style.myClass.color)">

JQuery :: Dynamic Link Generation - Convert Words With A Certain Class Attribute Into Wikipedia Links

Jun 9, 2009

There's a feature I want to implement, but don't really know how to code. The intention is to use jQuery to convert words with a certain class attribute into Wikipedia links.

An example to make things clearer:

PLAIN TEXT: There is a <span class="wiki">penguin</span> there.

EXPECTED RESULT: There is a <a href [url] there.

Hence the code would have to grab the string of words inside the tag and place them inside a href with the first part of the link already attached to it. Doesn't seem too complicated, but I wasn't able to do it.

I have been trying to use the code below (created by Patrick Haney and improved by enraged) as a basis, but no deal. This code subistitutes words for code, but it searches for specific words.

If anybody knows a script like that, modify the code below,

JQuery :: Tabs Links Inside Tab To Other Tabs Work But Active Class Not Visible & External Link

Mar 7, 2011

I'm having issues with jquery and the tabs I'm using. My tabs work but... I want some more functions and that seems to be a big problem for a Javascript and jquery newby.

My HTML:

Code:
<ul class="tabs">
<li>Tab1</li>
<li>Tab2</li>

[Code]....

I really don't know if this is correct but it works! What doesn't work is the active class. If you use one of the buttons in the first tab you go to the right tab but the tab itself has no class called active and that ruins the style.

2)
I also have one other question: lets say that all the above is my second page and I have my frontpage in which I also have buttons. I want somebody to use the button and end up in the third tab of page 2. My link is something like

Code:
page2.html#tab3

I read that using this should lead you the third tab but it's not working for me. You go to the first tab of page 2 instead.

I've been reading a LOT! Jquery for dummies, I googled, read the forum and other forums. I posted on a Dutch forum but no answer. I've added a lot of different code but it doesn't work.

JQuery :: Events/live And Default - Method To Bind A Handler To A Click-event For All Links With Class "userDiv"

Jun 10, 2009

I use the live - method to bind a handler to a click-event for all links with class "userDiv"

When I DON'T use this and use instead the "normal" click handler

I can still use the middle Mouse-Button in Firefox to open the link in a new tab without any jquery-stuff

But when I use the live-method (and it would be nice to use it) the middle Mouse-Button behaves like the left one.

Extracting Parameters

I found this little script for extracting parameters from a url but wondered
what the shortest and most efficient way to do it would be, like the
following or via regexp?

function getParameter(paramName) {
var currentUrl = window.location.search
var strBegin = currentUrl.indexOf(paramName) + (paramName.length+1)
var strEnd = currentUrl.indexOf("&",strBegin)

if (strEnd==-1)
strEnd = currentUrl.length
return currentUrl.substring(strBegin,strEnd)
}

Any shorter way?

Extracting Data From A XML Website?

Jan 18, 2011

What will be the best way to extract dynamically changing information from a web page that holds XML?I have to extract some data from multiple web pages.These sites contain XML code that dynamically reloads (and changes) parts of the page.Since only small parts get a refresh (perhaps 200 bytes every 5 seconds) it wouldn't be efficient (and also might lead to negative reactions from the server) to reload the whole page (about 40k) every time.How could I best determine these updated contents and send them to the program that further processes them?I am familiar with several programming languages but unfortunately have very little knowledge of internet programming.

Extracting Data From .getContext(ƈd')?

Sep 17, 2010

I'm trying to get some average rgb values from an image in one canvas object and apply them via fillstyle to a rectangle in another canvas object.I have a dropdown that loads an image onChange()="ChangeBaseWood()" into a canvas object. The second canvas object is to be filled with an average color based on the content of the first canvas onClick="GetBaseColor()". For simplicity I've replaced the for loop with just the values of pixel 0,0. Where I think I am assigning the rgb values, the error console keeps reporting that var sample is undefined at the line "var redpart = sample[0].

function ChangeBaseWood(){
var dropdown = document.getElementById('woodvalue');
var woodcanvas = document.getElementById('basewood');[code]....

I've tried various things to assign the redpart,grnpart and blupart but I'm missing something basic.

Extracting Part Of A String?

May 20, 2011

I have a bit of a problem and as my javascript is a rather poor I'm struggling to come up with a solution. Basically I need to split the variable "#country" into two parts and call the second half as the "this" value for '#int-dc'. Using '+' as the start point end ending at the end of the string.

For instance 'this' returns 12+44 I want to split it to "12" and "+44" the latter (+44) replacing 'this' in the code below.

$(function() {
$("#country").change(function() {
$("#int-dc").val
($(this).val());
});
});
