I want to build a popup window that should not be minimized and maxmized. that should be always on top. when other window is opened then the pop up window should not be minimized.
View 1 RepliesI have done thus far is set up a simple Ajax request to my server to log in a user (This part seems to work just fine). The problem that I am incurring is that I would like to close the window if the user has been successfully logged in and not close the window (aka - show the form errors via php) if the user did not input the correct credentials.
This is what I have got so far (which simply logs in a user): -note: the php currently just spits out Sucess or Fail to the jquery ajax request and I would like to add a way to verify if logged in then close window but if not keep window open

This seems to work fine and dandy to just return Success or Fail to the #results div but is there a way to verify if the user is logged in success or not or at least a way to catch such validation that is sent back from the php script?
I was also playing with adding the below code after the $.post request but it obviously just closes the window no matter what the response.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work
In my application i use window.showmodaldialog() to pop up a window. When i run it in IE pop up blocker wont blocks the window... But when run it in FireFox pop up blocker will blocks the pop up window.. is there any way to open a window with out blocking(avoiding ) by the pop up blocker?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe general outline is that I have part of a page that deals with the addition, editing and deletion of upcoming events. Data is stored in a MySQL table. The form design (in traditional terms) would be very simple requiring three fields, one for the Event Name, one for the Event Description and one (hidden) to identify the UniqueID of the event in the MySQL table. (As the reference to make edits.) The table therefore has 3 fields. (There are more such as Timestamp, clientID etc, but they are not important here.)
I envisage three functions, one to add, one to edit and one to delete the event listed on the page. I have 3 php files eventadd.php, eventedit.php and eventdelete.php which speak for themselves.However, this is where I have the problem. What I have been doing is returning the xmlhttpresponse as a formatted HTML page for the two 'form' elements because whilst I can return unformatted text containing the relevant fields in one response, I don't know how to break that down into two sections for the innerHTML of the two 'form' elements that change.
Returning a formatted page does work, but as well as being slower than neccessary, I am also running into character-set encoding issues and I just know that I am not doing this properly. I can supply code and things, but I have a feeling that this problem will have come up somewhere and probably has a recognized solution because to me it seems to be such an obvious requirement to be able to populate several form elements with fields from one recordset.
I have a popup window that comes up when a user doesn't have access to a certain page within my site. The problem is when a user clicks on something the popup window comes up but the bigger sized window of that popup comes up in the background as well. I am trying to have my popup window come up while the original page I clicked from is still focused/seen in the background. This is the code I currently am using, can anyone help me with what I am missing. I have a back button but I won't need that if I want to maintain the original page in the background. Instead I will use a close button.

When articles are added the will be able to open up the image browser when they find the image they want to insert I would like to send it(and ID from my database) into that textarea where the article is in(in the main window). lists a selection of "classes". Each class has a description and a class_id
(stored in the value attribute of each option). The user will then select a
class from the drop-down list.

Any suggestions as to what control I should use in the parent window and
more importantly how I get the value from the popup window (this must be
client side code as the user will have entered other values into the form in

In parent window, while submitting form, popup window is called. In child popup window, parent window is forced to go invisible through code. But sometimes it is not working.Aim is to inactive all elements in parent form or invisible parent form while child window (popup) is opened. After closing popup, parent form should be in visible state.

I have a php page which returns a table representing a query sent to a MySQL database. So far it has worked in every case except now that I'm trying to use it to call a stored procedure, in which case the readystate is staying at 1 and never completing.
I have logged the results of the php file both in an error log and looked at the response from the request using firebug, both of which show a correct result.
Why isn't this returning properly?

After the page loads, the error log shows correct results for all queries.
I guess this case applies to both popup windows opened by window.open() and by showModalWindow().
I have two buttons in popup window, "Cancel" and "Save". If the user clicks either button, there is a "process" at parent window before close() at popup being called. The problem now is, if the user click the "X" sign at top right corner of that popup window, how to trigger the "process"?
I think I can do nothing in popup window since the closure is unexpected programmatically. Can I put some kind of listener in parent window to detect if popup is closed?
