Add Comma Delimited String To A Hiddenfield On Page?

Feb 17, 2011

I have a gridview that displays client data. The first column on each row for the gridview is a checkbox. The second column on the gridview is client name and the third column is account holder. The user can select checkboxes (on multiple rows) to modify data (account holder).

I want to add clientName column value in a comma delimited string to a hiddenfield on my page. How do I do that using javascript, as I do not want to use postback and looping through each row on the grid to get the checkbox status. When a checkbox is checked, it should append the hiddenfield value.

I am getting the hiddenfield value as blank no matter what checkboxes are checked. I also know that my code is not targeting the correct row to get ClientName (row where checkbox is checked).

function RowClick(CheckBox)
{
var BaseControl = document.getElementById('<%= this.myGrid.ClientID %>');
var TargetControl = document.getElementById('MyHiddenField');

Can't Get Regex To Work - Search() Function

Dec 14, 2005

I've been having a lot of trouble trying getting the following code to work, all the examples that I have seen tell me that it should, but it doesn't and i'm out of ideas.

if (parent.input_frame.input_form.cheque_number.value.search(/./) != -1)
{
alert('The cheque number is invalid.');
parent.input_frame.input_form.cheque_number.select();
return;
}

What I want it to do is alert the user that the cheque number they have entered is invalid if it contains a period / full stop / dot.

The problem is that it always says the cheque number is invalid no matter what the user enters.

I have spent the last hour or two trying a number of things using just about all the regex functions and examples in the JavaScript book I have and examples from other posts on this site, but still cannot get it to work.

If you could let me know what I am doing wrong or provide me with an example of another way to do this that would be great.

Browser is Internet Explorer, have tried /D/ as the regex too, but this did not trigger the alert when a number with a dot was entered.

RegEx To Strip HTML Out Of A String?

Oct 8, 2009

I would like to strip HTML out of a string I have in a JSON item I have. I'm using Yahoo! Pipes to aggregate several blog-feeds and put them in together in one big feed, I then use jQuery to parse that JSON and place it onto my page. My issue is though that what's being parsed onto my page is the raw html code within the JSON item. I want any HTML related tags out of the item, so I just see text.

var ElementValue = oElement.value;
var DecimalRegXp = /./g;

Search For String Of Content On Page?

I would like to find some direction or help to solve an issue I have.I would like to find a way to search for a string of content on my webpage and return the string, or at least part of the string into the URL...Example of the content on my page:-----Welcome, John Adams Log OutWelcome to your own content, based on your settings provided. Feel free to download the content you need.Fairly straightforward. Now I would like to create a function that will look at the page and "copy" the string of content beginning with "welcome" and ending with "out"Next, I would like to remove the "welcome," and "log out" and have the name remain.Then, post the name into the URL to be passed onto the next page for me to use as more ersonalization/dynamically driven content; Such as:

Parse Search String Into Get Variables

Aug 21, 2002

I feel like I have been repeating this code lately, so I cleaned it up and am gonna show it here. This function returns an array (with hash names) containing all the get variables.

function parseGetVars() {
var getVars = new Array();
var qString = unescape(top.location.search.substring(1));
var pairs = qString.split(/&/);
for (var i in pairs) {
var nameVal = pairs[i].split(/=/);
getVars[nameVal[0]] = nameVal[1];
}
return getVars;
}A simple page to test this looks like<html>
<head>
<title>Test</title>

<script>
function parseGetVars() {
var getVars = new Array();
var qString = unescape(top.location.search.substring(1));
var pairs = qString.split(/&/);
for (var i in pairs) {
var nameVal = pairs[i].split(/=/);
getVars[nameVal[0]] = nameVal[1];
}
return getVars;
}
</script>
</head>

<body>
<script>
var g = parseGetVars();
for (var i in g)
document.writeln(i+'='+g[i]+'<br>');
</script>

</body>

Search In Array Or String For Individual Characters?

Nov 3, 2011

I'm writing a piece of JS code that returns a result of true if the pattern appears in string as a substring (case sensitive) but would like to extend its functionality to returns true if all the individual characters of pattern appear in string (regardless of order).

For example:This is what the program currently does:

match1("adipisci","pis") returns true

Whereas I would now like it to do this:

match1("adipisci","sciip") returns true
match2("adipisci","sciipx") returns false because x does not exist in variable
match3["adipisci","adipisci"] returns true in array 1 and 2 if "sciip" is searched
match4["adipisci","adipiscix"] returns false in array 1 and true in array 2 if "sciipx" is searched

I am having difficulty implementing this into my code... this is what I've done so far:

var pages=[
"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.",
"Nulla imperdiet laoreet neque.",

[code]....
