Re-add Scrollbar Inside Popup Window?
Jan 29, 2010
Is there any way to re-establish a vertical scrollbar inside a popup window if the parent window opened the popup without scrolling? For some reason, the asinine people at the local mls decided that their virtual tour links only need to be 800x600 with no scrolling. Here is what I am using to resize the window onload - but I still cannot scroll the page down to see the rest of the page, if this page is not loaded full size:
Code:
var originalWidth = window.innerWidth
var originalHeight = window.innerHeight
function addLoadEvent(func) {
var oldonload = window.onload;
if (typeof window.onload != 'function') {
window.onload = func;
} else {
window.onload = function() {
if (oldonload) {
oldonload();
} func();
}}}
if(originalWidth < 1000){
addLoadEvent(function() {
window.innerWidth = 1000
})}
if(originalHeight < 500){
addLoadEvent(function() {
window.innerHeight = 500
})}
Is there something I can add to this to re-establish the scrollbar?

I am using JavaScript for popups in my OpenLayers map. All the html tags like <br> work in the popup window except for the link href tag. Everytime I put in a link in my popup window it doesnt work:
var mystring = "here is link:<br> <a href="www.sun.com">link</a>";
popup = New OpenLayers.Popup.FramedCloud("chck", feature.coord, null, mystring, null, true, onPopupClose);
Also tried link without quotes and with ticks and nothing seems to work with the link not taking me anywhere.

1. VBScript opens a dropmenu: oPopUp = window.createPopup
2. Then Javascript code in the popup body should hide the popup when certain item has mouseover.
Can javascript hide vbscript popup (within the popup)?

I'm using Miller Medeiros' swffit.js script (swffit - Smart Flash Resize Script - 100% Width and 100% Height) to resize a Flash presentation. It's misbehaving slightly in IE9, and while I can overcome that with an "X-UA-Compatible" meta tag, I'd rather not introduce hacks to accommodate a current browser.For context, here's where everything ends up: Vertical Scrollbar. Click the first thumbnail. Use the little drag handle at lower right to resize the window. This works perfectly in FF3, FF4, Chrome, IE7, and IE8. But in IE9, I end up with a vertical scrollbar in the window.
In that context, there are a lot of "actors" involved, including the Highslide JS expander and the JW Player. But we can eliminate those red herrings. Here's a very stripped-down example, one that involves only swfobject.js, swffit.js, a few lines of HTML, and a boring little SWF file: SWF Fit Minimal. Change the browser window size, and you'll see that in IE9, the vertical scrollbar never goes away, unlike the result in any other browser. For this example, I'm using the swffit.js source code rather than the packed version, to make tinkering easier. The last non-beta version of swffit.js, by the way, has exactly the same problem.My guess is that there's something different about the way IE9 reports the viewport size, or about the way it responds to the resized Flash object, but I don't know how to track down those differences.

I'm trying to build a background in two parts. The header bg is in the body and the lower part is a div with a gradient background color generated by CSS3 or IE filters. I had problems with getting the gradient to stretch all the way to the side in IE7 with plain CSS so I had to start looking for more watertight solutions.
[Code]...
If there are easier methods to solve this split background thing than JavaScript, I'm all ears. I can PM the address of the website, if someone wants to take a look.

I am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work

from my main window. I would like them to always stay in front of the parent
window until they are shut down with there own close buttons. As it is, when
you click back to the parent window, of course it comes in front of the
child windows. Can I do this?

I need to open a popup window from a PHP site and pass in some parameters to use in the pop up window. I have the params in an input box and need to get the val of the box into a param and pass it to the new popup window. All pages are local and in the same folder. The id of the input box is 'ddutykey'. The name of the new window would be showduty.php if possible.

I am stuck with an issue of getting my modal to pop up and out of the iframe and show on top of the parent page. I am using the jqModal -xamples and they seem to have an answers for everything but this. This is the ultimate objective:OnLoad of the parent page, if something=true to pop up the modal from within the iframe to show over the parent. OH, and I CAN'T change anything in the parent page.I can get it to do everything that i need it to do BUT pop up out of the iframe. I have tried to access an id of the parent page to set it as a target, along with many other non working ways.... but idk... i think i am just running in circles at this point.... SO here is the simplified code that is nested inside of the parent iframe.... it loads the modal onLoad of the page, but its inside the iframe...
HTML Code:
<style>
.jqmWindow {display: none; position: fixed; top: 17%; left: 50%; margin-left: -300px;

How do I do the rest? I just want to add this new value to the end of the list.

I need the most efficient way of passing a variable from a parent window to a popup window.The reason i say "most efficient" is because i currently do it like this from the parent:[code]But this is inefficient because at times it randomly alerts "undefinded".Anyways, can someone tell me a more fail safe way to pass a var to a popup so that i will be able to access it 100% correctly.

The problem is when a user clicks on something the popup window comes up but the bigger sized window of that popup comes up in the background as well. I am trying to have my popup window come up while the original page I clicked from is still focused/seen in the background. Instead I will use a close button.

I have a website which has a popup window (this only opens when the user
chooses to open it). In the popup window I have a <select> control which
lists a selection of "classes". Each class has a description and a class_id
(stored in the value attribute of each option). The user will then select a
class from the drop-down list.
What I want to do is have a control in the parent browser window which can
store the class_id and the description that the user has selected in the
popup window.
Any suggestions as to what control I should use in the parent window and
more importantly how I get the value from the popup window (this must be
client side code as the user will have entered other values into the form in
the parent browser window)?
