how I can have a popup window appear centred with scrollbars? The width and height must be changed for each popup. I need the popup window link to be placed in a href not as onclick. My client will be placing popup window link into their website via Adobe Contribute, so that is why I am asking for the whole thing not to be onclick.

In IE, the method of creating the popup that holds my application is window.showModalDialog. When I redirect the user via javascript with something as simple as, location.href='someURL'; another popup window is opened rather than just redirecting the browser. When a user is using anything other than IE, the window.open method is used and those browsers redirect within the same window appropriately.

I am trying to dynamically open a popup window but ie8 blocks it with the popup blocker. basically within a ajax fuction I have a confirm button and if the user clicks yes it opens a popup window. now I tried it with a javascript function but it got blocked, so I have tried it by creating a form with a button in it and instead of calling the popup function direct I call document.form.button.click and in the form my button has onclick"popup('<? echo url; ?>')" but this also is detected as a unwarranted popup and is blocked.
now I understand that the popup blocker works when a popup is called without user interaction, but allows popups on say button clicks. how can I get the popup to work

I'm trying to setup a page that uses JavaScript in a text link to submit a form:

I also have added a fallback page in the href (do.htm) in case users have JavaScript disabled. But the JavaScript doesn't seem to be working. When I click the link it always goes to the fallback page, and doesn't submit the form.
I've tried swaping the order in the anchor tag (JS first, href second):
<a onclick="javascript:document.forms.Q01.submit();" href="do.htm">
and the same thing happens.
If I remove the href value:
<a href="#" onclick="javascript:document.forms.Q01.submit();">
the JS does execute properly.
How can I get the JS to execute by default for browsers that support it, and the href be the backup for browsers that dont support it?
In my application i use window.showmodaldialog() to pop up a window. When i run it in IE pop up blocker wont blocks the window... But when run it in FireFox pop up blocker will blocks the pop up window.. is there any way to open a window with out blocking(avoiding ) by the pop up blocker?

1. Rather than (or perhaps in addition to) having the two images change based on a timer, I'd like to be able to insert a "next" arrow. Therefore I will need assistance in coding a button to change the images from "ad_1" to "ad_2" which is currently done automatically by the interval timer
2. I'd like to make the images clickable with unique destinations (so when you click on "ad_1" it will take you to "link 1", "ad_2" will take you to "link 2"

I am looking for a generic javascript function to identify the form with in which a element exists, thus developer can avoid coding like document.forms[index].submit() - where they are sure, they want the form with in which this element exists is to be submitted. This way when forms are introduced at top level the code can remain unchanged, else every form introduce above in the DOM will result in increasing the index by one.
The code is given below. While doing so i am stuck with 2 problems
P1: In the code, you can see i am giving a explicit 'break' in the code. If i don't do so the code seems to be looping. Obviously i am missing some basic.
P2: I am able to pass 'this' for anchor element by name="xy"

While i am unable to do that on the anchor element given below since this function is now on the href attribute.

I am using this javascript code to run 'onclick' to change my href class style. It works to change the style, but when I click on the next menu item, the previous one is not reverted back to how it was previously, but the formatting is stripped away leaving the link purple with no background image. How do I get it to revert to the original class which is set?

I want to always (and ONLY) display in the status bar 'Symantec

the same image or link. Upon releasing the mouse (onMouseOut), the
status bar should be 'blank'. I need the link to open in a new window
via my function openWindow(URL) code.
What is happening in most of the six scenarios, is that when one
clicks the link, either the function doesn't engage, but rather the <a
href= takes effect instead OR that status bar shows
'javascript:openWindow('http://www.symantec.com/');' when one clicks
while holding the left mouse down (onClick) on the image or link.
Additionally, for only the link, I need the CSS/style to show 'red'
when one mouses over (onMouseOver) it and then change to 'blue' upon
releasing the mouse (onMouseOut).
How about integrating 'style="cursor:hand"' into the code or perhaps

How can I use this script to display a page in my current directory? It woriks fine when using a domain such as yahoo.com or google.com.
I use this code to create a banner that contains text:

because it makes the whole banner a link. If I do it this way:

only the text is the link and if someone puts their cursor over a non-text area they might no realize they can click on it.
In the second example, however, I use target='_blank' to open up a new window.
My question is, is there a way to use the first method and open a new window.
I have the code below in my popup window which currently brings up a blank page in the background as the main window. Instead I want the popup to come up but the original page I left is in the background as the main window. Does anyone know how I can do that with the code I currently have.
