Passing Variables Between Forms Using URL GET And POST?
Sep 3, 2010
There are different ways by which values of variables can be passed between forms. One of the ways is to use the setTimeout to pass the values or data. Here the biggest advantage is we can pass data to a different site even running automatically.I would need from someone a bit of help to pass the variable links from form1 to variable strLink in form2 using SetTimeout.We have the following schema:An options select menu where value of the option, sent with a submitted form, is specified with the value attribute. In the absence of a VALUE attribute, the value is the content of the option element.
<html>
<head>
</head>
[code]....

I have a div on my page that is populated by a php calendar. The calendar also has month and year input fields so that the user can browse to different months. I would like to create a jquery function so that, when a user changes the month or year field, the div reloads the calendar and passes the selected month and year variable back to the php script. Here is what I have on my page:
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
function startCalendar(month, year) {

I am currently designing an HTML page with a form with a post method.
The page is calling itself so with the details that are passed will
vary how the page will look i.e. number of results from the sql query
that is being run. I'm trying to catch these using a javascript
function which is:
var qsParm = new Array();
function qs() {
var query = window.location.search.substring(1);
document.writeln(query);
var parms = query.split('&');
for (var i=0; i<parms.length; i++) {
var pos = parms[i].indexOf('=');
if (pos > 0) {
var key = parms[i].substring(0,pos);
var val = parms[i].substring(pos+1);
qsParm[key] = val;
}
}
}
and then just calling the array to get the value, in this case
qsParm['num_res']. The above function doesnt work for post but does for
get. I'm fairly new to javascript and am assuming this line is at
fault:
var query = window.location.search.substring(1);
but I'm not sure what it should be.

After a javascript-generated post event (this is a post, not ajax
messaging) the current screen has to be redrawn. But on *long forms*
(longer than a single screen) then the current screen positioning
is lost, and the current form ends up redrawn, with a different
vertical positioning--after the post event.
However, If I sent the x,y mouse position as post parameters,
and if the current widget (that generated the post) had
a well-known anchor tag name, would there be a way
to combine that much information, after the post, in order to redraw
the form close to it's original vertical positioning?
How?

I'm struggling with a script for an e-commerce site.When the user clicks the add to cart button they are currently taken to a PHP shopping cart page, but the client wants them to stay on the same page after they press the button and get notified that an item has been added to the cart.The add to cart button is a form submit button, because there is also a quantity field for each item. I would have cracked this by now but there are multiple add to cart buttons on each page and when I submit the form only the data from the first form in the page is sent to the cart page.Here's a dummy version the JavaScript:
Code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.subbtn').click(function(){
$('<p id="add">Added To Cart</p>').insertAfter(this).fadeOut(3000);[code].....
At the moment I've got it set so that AJAX returns information to the page (just so I know it works), but this won't happen on the actual page.So, as far as I can tell, I need a way of POSTING $(this).parent(); $('[name=quantity]').val(), but I can't seem to find the correct syntax.

I have something that runs on a server with no PHP or any of those widgets.
A user submits a form with 6 fields. Clicks "Go". A page appears that displays what he just entered, with a form of his data in hidden fields, and a link with document.form.submit() that takes you to a CGI program. It must be 2 different page loads.
Is displaying what he entered in the form in the next page possible with JavaScript? If so, what are the JS variables that would let me access that data?

Currently I have the following script:-
function validate_form(){
if(regform.reguser.value == ""){
alert("Please completed the selected box");[code]....
to validate a simple registration form, however I initially tried to streamline this function by cycling through an array using a loop to point to various input elements in the HTML page itself. I found that when trying to use a variable in the aforementioned if statements the javascript failed to work i.e.
var test = "reguser";
if(regform.test.value = ""){
}
I know the javascript is looking for the input element "test" instead of "reguser" but is there any way I can force it to look for the contents of the variable.

Alright, I'm trying to make these variables pass through as a post, but it's not receiving any posts through the other side. When I use the GET method though, it picks it up.
Code:
xmlhttp.open("POST","script.php",true);
xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
xmlhttp.send(parameters);

I am wondering why:
$.post("remote.php",
{'f':a_searchtype, 'partial':value},
function(data){
$("#result").html(data);

causes javascript errors in unrelated sections of code.
The second version can be used in a common routine that doesn't know what is being passed.

I have a php page (target_market.php), with a form that has 34 checkboxes. I would like the be able to click the boxes and have JS post the 'checked' value to a php session varibale when a button is clicked. If the user navigates away from the page and returns, the pages needs to reload the checkbox session variables.
How do I post the 'checked' value as either YES or NO using JS to another page (target_session.php), so that i can add them to database at a later stage?, but also retrieve the session variables and update the check boxes should the user come back to the target_market.php page?

This probably seems pretty trivial to you experts but I just don't know why it doesn't work and would like a nudge in the right direction please.I have a sllide and fade that works great - no problems. I am firing it with a function call from the HTML like so;<a href='#' onClick='sfade('#s1'); return false;>as you see I am passing the div to be faded(and slid) as a variable. Works great. The receiving function is:
var str='';
function sfade(str){
$(str).slideFadeToggle(1000);

I'm creating dynamic buttons and forms for a website and would like the form hidden when it's corresponding button is clicked. However, when I pass button and form name variables to my JavaScript that hides the form, the variables are not being recognised unless I explicitly set them. (e.g 1 and 2 as seen below).
In a nutshell the onlick event doesn't seem to like PHP variables !

Don't know if this should be under JS or PHP... I have 2 different pages. On the first one, a table shows a list of items. Each has a button that when clicked opens another window with specific size attributes, hence the onClick event. The 2 PHP variables are computed and different for each item (each line).
Here is the line:
<input onClick="javascript:window.open('player_buy.php?send_role=<?=$data['ROLE']?>&send_price=<?=$send_price?>', '_blank', 'status=0,toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=no,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=739,height=320, top=0,left=0')" class="button_sale" type="submit" value="> > >" name="submit">
Now of course, on the popup window, the URL will show .../player_buy.php?send_role=XXX&send_price=XXX
But the goal is to avoid that. So my question is: Is there a way to open such a popup window, pass these variables to it but in a way that it would not show in the URL?

I have a javascript function that receives the form name, field name and value and I want to be able to spit that data back to the originating form after doing some processing on the data.
The values are making it to the function perfectly, but when I try to return those values to the form, it tells me it's not a function. I know there's some syntax problem, but I'm just not sure where!
function doThis(one,two,three){
var myFormName = one;
var myFormField = two;
var myFormValue = three;
var goHere = myFormName + '.' + myFormField;

I have one page witih PHP where users will be answering a form for file upload. However, I need to give them the option to either upload a file or select one that is already uploaded.
In order for them to select a file that is already uploaded, they will use a pop up window to browse to the file and and select the a file with a radio button or submit button to select the file.
What i need to happen is when they press "select" they window needs to close and that file's url or relative path needs to fill in the "select uploaded file" with the path or url.
I"ll be using PHP in both form and popup for the file, but I cant do that with php without refreshing the page. Can javascript do this and how would I go about this.

A while back I was working on learning C++. However after finding out that making API's was too difficult I switched over to HTML and Javascript for a while to get it to do what I want without having to fry my brain on weird code statements.
Well now I've reached the barrier of being able to save data. For a while I've just had it to the point where the code I need is saved in a textarea and I copy and paste it in notepad. Then upon reentering I pull it out of Notepad and paste into the testarea.
Well enough with the bla bla bla. Is there a way I can use the <form method="post"> stuff to pass a variable to a C++ compiled program?
All I need to know is: 1) can I use <form method="post" action="SomeProg.exe"> and 2) what would the name of the posted variable be to use in my C++ code? As you can tell I running client-side so PHP and other server-side languages that WinXP don't support without special installation wont work.
