OK so Ive been using jquery for a little bit now and love it. I am a ColdFusion developer. I have a need where I would like to present the user with a list of categories and the user can drag and drop to sort, but then I need to post this new sort order to the database. So I see there are a ton of cool drag & drop plugins for jquery. I understand how they work and I can get it to work as far as spitting out DIVS or spitting out ULs that can be sorted, but then what? So now they are sorted on my screen and not really part of the form. How do I translate that into something I can do a post to the database with? Do I do an AJAX call every time they drop an item and try to extrapolate the sort order on that item after they drop it? Do I populate a hidden form field with the constantly updating sort order list? MAybe a list of ID's? How does everyone else go about this this task? I'm sure there is more than one way and I'm sure this is a common task.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor my Dreamweaver program I want to update to the latest version so I can build within it, but I'm confused as to what are the latest versions of jquery.mobile-min.js and jquery.mobile-min.css. The site has 1.0 as the latest stable build. But Dreamweaver's third-party folder (the place that houses jQuery mobile scripts) has 1.0a3 for the css and 1.5 for the mobile.min file. I was told by Adobe that they do not update jQuery scripts when updating their program. I think that's a mistake, myself. Whether it is or not, it sure would be useful now.

I am planning to create a web site in HTML5 and Javascript for iPad, for that perpose i need a local database access using javascript. I have installed SQLite on iPad, How i can access Sqlite using javascript.
Points i dont want to implement are: 1] I don't want to use HTML5 Local database storage as it cleans data whenever we clear history and caching. 2] I don't want to use Google gear, becoz it creates dependancy, also i have never used it. Is it possible to access SQLite using pure javascript. so that it will work with all the browsers and also on iPad as well as on XP, Vista machines.
I think the offset() function returns node's position relative to document. The attached html file prints the offset value to console when the box is clicked. I expect the same value would be printed every times. However, when the script is run on iPad (with simulator), it print different value when I zoom and scroll to different position. This problem does not occurred in iPhone.

In javascript normally when you call .focus() on a textbox id, it places the cursor inside the textbox.
Trying the same on ipad does not place the cursor in the text field and the keypad does not pop up.
How to place cursor and bring up the keypad on ipad using javascript?
I have this jquery code that for a normal browser allows you to have a sticky header. So by default it shows the content of the header wherever you want then as you scroll that header will then stay with you as you scroll. The problem is it doesnt work for an iPad. Can someone look at the code and see if there is something I can change to make this work on an iPad?

If you notice, each checkbox has a different id than the other. how i represent them in javascript or get them together as one for one id. also, how do i represent them in mysql. As you know in simple html form, the checkboxes has one id.

The functions I've implemented so far work perfectly on Firefox, Internet Explorer and other browsers. However, the iPad itself responds a bit different. I'd like to implement (on a web page optimized for iPad) the scroll effect of iPhoto on an iPad. That is you swipe and the page will scroll to center the next image (or div of a specific class), and you cannot scroll to have half an image showing, it always adjusts to center the closest-to-center image. It's like the page has "click-stops" to stop the scroll at certain points.
I imagine this can be done in JavaScript, just wondering if there's an existing library to make this easier.
Also, if there's a term used to describe what I'm after I'd like to know.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm developing a website and I need the browser to scroll to an anchor. It MUST be animated, so I tried to use jQuery for that. Tried this:

It works perfectly on Firefox and Safari(on the Mac). On Mobile Safari it first goes to the top of the page, then it scrolls to the anchor I want it to scroll to. What's the trick to make it work?
Im working on a mobile site for a friend and im curious, can i trigger javascript events on screen flick (By flick i mean the way to scroll through homepage screens). Id love to run a few things like that but i dont know if thats possible. If it is is there a tutorial about i could look at?
