My code works great except that the margin and padding CSS isn't doing anything. Which doesn't make sense to me because the font size, style, and alignment is affected by the CSS. Does anyone know why this is??
I'm wondering whether anyone else has experienced the <ul>s remaining visible on mouseout to the bookmark bar in Chrome. Giving the whole thing a top margin doesn't seem to be working.
I have tried to have the jQuery Slideshow in one of my site, but it is now not working in IE9. It is working fine in all IE Versions till IE8.I have update the JQUERY file with version 1.5.2. SAMPLE DONE can be viewed at Here
I have placed 2 links below that show the JQuery slideshow that is 99% complete and working great. I also am posting a second link that shows a very similar JQuery slideshow that shows A-Tags working correctly and has instructions to help me add A-Tags.
Problem. The LAST slide in my slideshow has a simple A-Tag with a link to a page in the website. The link seems to show up but the when clicked "Nothing Happens"
Code: <a href="get_organized.php" target="_top"><img src="intro/ocd_logo.jpg" width="930" height="615" /></a> Link to my JQuery Slideshow with the error on the last slide
<!--BEGIN FADING DYNAMIC CONTENT SCRIPT--> <script language="javascript"> // Use Freely as long as following messages are intact ::
[Code]....
It is supposed to fade all the images, but the images don't fade. But if I put text at the place of image, the text fades. But I want my image to fade too.
The image URL provided in this script is of the root Dir, therefore you will not be able to see any image.
i have two scripts using jquery 1) custom scrollbar content 2) fade in out slideshow. they both work individually well. but when i put them together on one page the customscrollbar doesnt work. here are sample scripts [URL]
I am using a jQuery Slideshow on a website homepage that I am helping to develop.
The homepage can be seen here: [URL].. This site is currently in production and I am trying to make some improvements at the moment. But I cannot understand why the slideshow isn't behaving correctly in Chrome. I'll tell you what it is supposed to do.
1) Page loads... slideshow begins to loop through 4 slides, each linking to an article on the website.2) When you click on a thumbnail on the right of the slideshow, it should bring that slide into focus - You can then click on the "Read More" link in the description at the bottom of the main photo to go to that article.
Now here is what it is actually doing. 1) Page loads - slideshow begins to loop through the 4 slides, this is working.2) Click on a thumbnail and it does focus on that slide but it only brings up the image... the section containing the information/description and the link to the article is missing.3) The slideshow then continues to loop through the slides as usual but each time it comes to the slide you previously brought into focus, the information at the bottom is missing.
I have checked in other browsers and this does not appear to be happening. I have also checked in earlier versions of Chrome and this did not happen - It is only happening with the latest version of Chrome.
I used the tutorial here to create a slideshow but would like to add captions... with the code? Below is part of the script I used... (there are 27 images so I cut it short...
I have found a jquery plugin that does exactly what I want it to do except for one thing. It doesnt display a text description underneath the full size image.
If I were to using single images, I would use CSS 'float left' to have my text appear on the right side of the image, but with JS I cannot seem to do this.
My text drops below the slideshow and then I have this ugly white area to the right of my slideshow. I have tried MANY scripts and just cannot figure this one out.
The script I am using now has the main scripting in the <head> section, but this is what I have going on in the <body>:
I found a piece of code that helps me out a lot at [URL] It allows an image to crossfade into another, into another, etc.
I'd like to be able to crossfade an image, with a text caption underneath it, to crossfade into a different image with different text, into another, etc.
I think doing this may have something to do with putting the image and caption into a <div>, and then changing the code to swap the first <div> into the next, into the next.
The code identifies the images as 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, etc. It would be awesome if the captions could come from 1.txt, 2.txt, 3.txt, etc.
If Javascript can't call up .txt files, then the captions could be put inside the current web page into a table that is set to be hidden (display: none).
The reason I want to use Javascript is because I do not wish to use anything that will make visitors have to have additional software (like Java or Flash). Additionally, it is not a problem if they have Javascrpt disabled, because then they'll just see the first image with the first caption, which is fine. I can't use anything like PHP or PERL because I have very little control over the server.
Here is the original code:
========================================================== Script: JavaScript Cross-Browser SlideShow Script With Cross-Fade Effect between Images Adjustable Timing and Unlimited Images Function: Displays images continuously in a slideshow
I am trying to create a slideshow. My requirements are as follows:
-variable image size -descriptor text for each image -previous and next image function (I have used an image in my code by have decided that I would now prefer a text link)
Here is the code I have so far, currently the image and text is not changing!
I am trying to have text that is placed over an image cross fade into another image with text placed over it. I am using jquery and the images are cross fading perfectly. The text isn't working so well and in Firefox it seems to be very choppy and even sometimes the text just disappears and then there is a blank slide without any text or the text is showing up on the wrong image. Here is the code I have so far:
HTML Code: <div id="slides"> <div class="slide"> <img src="_images/placeholder3.jpg" width="695" height="195" alt="A Passion for Service" /> <div class="slideText"> <h1>And A Different Heading</h1> <p>With the appropriate solution for each client, we provide biomedical engineering and information technology services to suit your needs.</p> [Code]...
I am new to jquery and am going through the Sitepoint book "JQuery: Novice to Ninja. I am using the crossfade code from the book and I tried to apply it to the text as well.
I am trying to adapt the addSlide demo 5 [URL] but instead of using buttons created by css I wish to use images.
So I'm largely okay with that, have found the #nav container and defined my background-image images but these are overwritten by textual digits and I'm not sure where these are generated from. Most likely something in my main.js file though I can't figure out what exactly. I'm using cycle as follows:
$(function() { var stack = []; // preload images into an array for (var i = 3; i < 5; i++) {
So Im trying to create a slideshow with thumbnails the user can scroll through and use to navigate the slideshow. I'm a big fan of cycle so I wanted to use that as my main slideshow component and was planning on using jcarousel for the pager. So far it works great in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, yet in IE the thumbnails are not loading. I'm guessing it has something to do with how the images in the pager are generated and then jcarousel just isnt proccessing that in IE but I 'm not sure. I feel like I'm very close to getting this slideshow to work, yet I need to figure out why it is failing in IE.
I am using a simple prototype slideshow and a more comprehensive jquery slideshow on my website. When these are used on the same webpage on my website there appears to be a collision: (For example)Code:element.attachEvent is not a function[Break on this error] element.attachEvent("on" + actualEventName, responder); How can I avoid the conflict without reverting to a new slideshow?
I need to set a divs margin-left value into a var, ive tried a few different ways and i always get undefined. Ideally id like it without the px too but thats not essential.
I've set my margin as a % and am trying to get the value via jquery. It's being returned as a pixel value from safari and firefox, chrome is returning the percentage. OuterWidth returns an incorrect value (reporting as 1px more than innerWidth and I know it's 4px).
I have just been making a JavaScript chat applet, which should open in a new child window. It does all of this fine, and works within Firefox beatifully. However, IE thinks it's necessary to stop my iFrames from spaning the entire length and width of the Window, and add about 7-8mm of padding/margin to the inside of the Window.
I can't figure out, whether it's adding it to the inside of the window, or the outside of the frame.
Please could someone point out how I might be able to go about removing this padding? It's rediculous. I don't mind the border one bit, but no matter what I do, it's chopping off 14-16mm of the bottom iFrame. The window needs to be resizable, so unfortunately, the bottom iFrame is a set pixel hight, but the top iFrame works with a percentage (i.e 100% of the frameset surrounding it).
I would like to get the height of a div. This div contains other markups tag like some paragraph. However, I don't manage to get the height of this div if some paragraphs inside of it have some margin defined, even when using outerHeight(true)...
ps : a test case (simpel html file wit the required javascript) can be found there : [URL]
I occasionally need to set a negative margin on objects for positioning but 1.6.x ignores the declarations. This use to work fine with earlier versions. Has this issue been addressed? I tried all the combinations I could think of and the setting is ignored if a value is negative. (did not find a problem reference when setting a negative value in the forums)
I'm using a script for a drop down panel and it works fine, however I need to add a bit of a margin for the inner content but the script seems to be stripping it out in firefox, it works fine in ie and chrome. I've tried every trick in the book outside of editing the actual js file. I currently have a transparent image as a spacer at the top and it even ignores that. It seems that firefox just wont display anything above the first form field for some reason. Could someone take a look at this script quick and give me an idea on what to change to I can add like a 5px margin to the top of the content?
