Each button should validate specific controls of the form and submit it. I have a formdivided into 2 fieldsets (see the image) : MASTER and DETAIL. When I press Add in the DETAIL fieldset a new item is added to an array where I store temporarly the data entered trough the DETAIL inputs and finally when I press save I send both the MASTER and DETAIL (the temporary array shown in the html table) data to the server. As you may have already noticed, I need to validate both MASTER an DETAIL, but I don't want the Save button to fire the DETAIL validation or the Add link to fire the MASTER validation. I've been googling for a while and though I couldn't find exactly what I've been looking for, I found that it's possible to add/remove a class (e.g, required, number); that gave me some ideas on how to simulate validation groups and here's the code:

Although this code allow me to stop the MASTER validation from firing when I press Add( and DETAIL validation when I click Save), I still can't manage to insert a new DETAIL if only if all of the inputs in the DETAIL fieldset are valid and, what's more I don't want the Add link to cause a form submission.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?

length of time, from one day to about 10 years. ideas i've had have
been:
- 3 pull down boxes, for days, months, years
- an entry box for a value and a pull down box for units (days, weeks,
months, years)
- a scroll bar to slide along to a corresponding time

I have a problem with getting the amount of childs in a XML structure,
the strucure is somewhat like the following:

I am running a bit of JS to highlight text inputs onFocus in IE. It
seems to be working on all of the forms on the site except one. The
debug code in the script displays the number of input elements in an
alert. On the page where it does not work, the alert is "[object]".

The following function takes three different fields (which combined make up a phone number) and tests it to make sure that all the characters entered are integers. If this is true, it sets form.Phone.value = entirephonenumber. I would like to incorporate an additional test which, after determining that all characters in the string are integers, checks to make sure that the string length is 10. If it is less than 10 or more, I want the entire function to return false and display an error message (the same one is fine..) Code:

I'm attempting to run some checks on an input value. Initial HTML:[code]After the page loads a javascript calendar function called JDPicker runs and changes it to:[code] my issue only occurs on this HTML that is hard coded into the page. I have several other inputs (same element structure with the divs, etc) added later with javascript using createElement functions and my javascript works fine on those:[code]My problem is only in IE (testing with v 8). When I try to get the child elements value it gives me this error: "value null or is not an object". I tried using .nodeValue after that and it worked, but then started giving me errors regarding the .length function "length null or is not an object".

IE8 & 7 seem to be fine. I'm not really sure why Firefox is submitting the page with Refresh but IE isn't, I've looked over and over the code and can't find the error. Firebug is only finding errors in the jQuery library itself.
