I would like to wrap validation messages in <li class="error"/> with validate plugin is there any event or option I can handle to tweak the element before it is appended? I'm unsure if something like that would look ok:
$('form').validate({wrapper:"li.error"});
or either
$('form').validate({wrapper:"<li class='error'/>"});

I'm currently trying to move a div that holds a text message forward pixel by pixel and eventually I'll write the code for it to go backwards and repeat.
But I am not quite understanding what I've done wrong. It seems like a simple task, but It's not going anywhere.
I call a function from the xhtml document like so:
<body onload = "moveText()">
<div id="movingText">
<p>This message should scroll forward</p>
</div>
[Code]....
it seems so clear cut, I can't imagine what could be wrong but apparently all my browsers don't like it.

I have created a javascript object (ajaxQue below) that contains a method (this.get() below) that is a wrapper for the $.get() function and another method (this.jobCompleted() below) that is the callback argument for $.get().
The callback method refers to the javascript keyword 'this'. But 'this' doesnt seem to refer to my instantiated object as I would have expected, instead it seems to refer to something inside AJAX. So I can no longer refer to properties within my object (e.g. 'this.prop1' below). I have included a simplified version of my code below. Is jQuery messing with my callback function ?

I created a quick plugin. You can see it at http: [URL]. It has a strange feature. This plug-in treats the jQuery wrapper object as a group, and passes the whole wrapper in as the context object (the "this") for the functions supplied. Generally, when functions are supplied as parameters, either the context is irrelevant, or each DOM element in the jQuery wrapper is passed. But I don't do that. My plug-in keeps a reference to the jQuery wrapper and calls the functions in that context. This is necessary, because the whole idea is to act on a number of elements as a group -- in this case by fading in and out all members of the group when any individual one is hovered -- but I don't recall seeing this done elsewhere in the jQuery ecosphere.

I know it it a bit of fighting against the idea of jquery cycle, but for the jquery cycle script I need to generate a wrap around every 4 dynamicly created (wordpress posts) div's of the same class, so every slide shows actually 4 dynamic slides at a time.
For example, If the following posts are generated:
It actually needs to generate this:
I've already managed to get this, of which I think i'm getting close:
What to fill in at the for loop to make it work?

I have a set of radio buttons that are wrapped in divs and I want to highlight the wrapping div (by adding a class) of a radio button that is clicked while removing the highlight from any previously selected radio button (by removing the class).
I've got it working to the point where it only works on one set of radio buttons but I need to be able to do this on multiple sets. I did find this but was not able to figure out how I'd apply this to my requirement as it is working the other way around here:
jquery-tip-how-to-select-radiocheckbox-input-on-click
why its working only on the last set?
$(document).ready(function(){
function radioHighlight(radioName, className) {
radioNameSelector = "input[name='" + radioName + "']";
$(radioNameSelector).click(function() {

In the following (IE only) mini page (a table which is supposed
to have a fixed header), when you first do anything with the scroll
bar, you will see the top two rows of the table jump slightly
(a few pixels) down and to the right. I could figure out
a specific numeric fudge factor value that will make me happy
on my own Win 2K / IE 6 system, but I'd like to know a proper
way to make this more general (for other IEs). Code:

Is there any way that one could have supersubs functionality applied to drop-down multi-column menus?I assume one would need to calculate the width of each column plus the combined width for the container.

I currently have a website where i share thoughts with my friends (some kind of forum) and within this 'forum' people can post pictures they made but most of the time these pictures exceed the max width of my website so my website gets all streched out!So this is what i want: all images on the page must run thru some sort of function which checks if the image image width exceeds the max_width. if it does then the script must calculate how many pixels the current width exceeds the max_width and get this number so that the script does: current_width = current_width - (max_width - current_width)

I've recently start using Flexigrid (old JQuery grid plugin), and, as you may know, one of the few issue this really good grid plugin got is the lack of liquid layout option. My personal idea to solve the problem is to set the "width" parameter depending on $(window).width. Here is the problem (and here's why i post this question in "General use" and not in "Plugin").
The starting, and working, code is:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#flex1").flexigrid
(
{
[Code].....
This work fine for me, but I supose it could be done way much elegant... maybe somethin without "IF" that could emulate the "%", like var percentage = $(#div.id).width()*0.XX with the 0.XX picked from an array of percentage, one for each column. Probably I should set up a function... ahhhh, as you may easily see I'm a total beginner with JQuery (and JS in general...)

I will have two text boxes that will accept numeric values and an image. What I need is if the user change the value of box 1, the value in box 2 will automatically update depending on the pixel dimensions of the image and vice versa.
Basically I need to automatically calculate the pixel ratio of an image and then use that value to multiply by the user inputted size.

I'm about to pull my hair out dealing with this pixel.This is the information CJ has given me. The OID (order ID) is a unique alphanumeric ID that needs to be generated on your end, and will be assigned to each unique transaction that occurs. If the OID is not unique, meaning if our system detects a duplicate OID for another transaction, the second transaction will be ignored, which is why it is important that unique OIDs are generated for each transaction (in your case, for each lead form that is completed and submitted) and
What I would suggest doing for your OID, is hardcoding a time and date stamp into the pixel to act as the OID. When you do this, you must exclude any symbols (colons, slashes, periods, etc) from the time/date stamp, and have the time be recorded all the way down to the millisecond. Since it will be extremely rare (if it happens at all) that two transactions will occur within the same millisecond, it will create a unique number to act as the OID for each lead that is submitted.

Is the next jQuery code the best way to decrease an elements width?[code]I tried using the next code:[code]but that's not working, also not with '-20'.Maybe it's an idea to add this functionality? It's is already used in the .animate() function for changing the position of an element.

I am looking to make an adjustment to this script. I'm trying to find a way to do it as neatly as possible, and without breaking any pre-existing functionality.hat I'm trying to do is have the first section open by default. What makes this a challenge for me is that the boxes that assemble to create the content wrapper are drawn on page initialization.

let me try to explain better what I'm trying to do. I'm a real newbie I don't know much javascript but I understand more or less the logic behind it... tell me if this solution should work and if you know how to do it please show me. [URL]... I need to make div#photo's width to match the total width measurement of all the images it contains. If you load the page and you don't touch the size, it will work fine... but that's not realistic. If I resize the page, which will happen often on this kind of page (I'm assuming), the whole thing goes haywire (try it, scroll to the last image and resize the page you'll see what I mean). What can I do? Is my idea the right solution? Am I not explaining this clearly enough? Let me know please, I'm desperate. I've been trying to get CSS to do this for me for 3 hours now. Nothing works.

I am trying to setup a javascript function that sets a div's width based on the combined width of the li's with the name "navItem". The problems I have been running into when trying to define the width of the li's is that they do not have a width defined in css. Can anyone help me out with this? The javascript function setWindow is suppose to show the div loginWindow and set the width of it.
Code:
<div id="topNav">
<ul>
<li><img src="<?php print $site->folder['images']['header']; ?>topmenu_left.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></li>
<li name="navItem"><a href="<? print $site->url['about']; ?>">About Us</a></li>
<li name="navItem"><a onmouseover="setWindow('loginWindow');" href="<? print $site->url['billing']; ?>">Client Services</a></li>

I need a code that when a button or image is clicked then a div's width and height are changed.
Ive managed to get a few codes that does this, but the real problem is that, the contents of the div is an embedded flash file and i thought that by setting the flash width and height to 100% then the flash would fit to the new size of the div, but it just didnt work.
I need a code that when a button is clicked then the div's and the flash's width and height are changed.
please have a look at the temp website latinunit net / temp / , you will understand where im coming from.
on the right hand side i have a flash chat in a div , div is controled by a script that allows it to follow the scrollers up and down.
My goal is to add a little button in the same div that says expand or maximise so when clicked the the div expands aswell as the flash file.

I have a huge blob of code but the main part I am focusing on is this
$('.billboard_click').click(function () {
//this remove class
$(".billboard_click").removeClass("billboard_click");
});
1. Execute a click event when the div with the class 'billboard_click' is clicked
2. Once clicked, remove the class from that very div to avoid another click from happening
3. Execute a series of events such as animations, etc
4. add the class back to the clicker div
The code does not seem to work as expected but I am wondering if I am having issues elsewhere at this point and wonder if this actually is known to work
