<span class="date" title="May 14, 2009">14 May 2009</span> and I'd like JQuery script to output it as this:<span class="date" title="">May 14, 2009</span> Basically, I'm checking the browser language and I want to display all dates in US date format to all users with EN-CA and EN-US browser language (and UK format to all other users). Please let me know if there is a better way of doing it, I couldn't find anything.

I used this little code to replace some content with jquery:
<script type="text/javascript">
function Csere() {
$('#lufi').replaceWith('Duma');
}
</script>
111111<script type="text/javascript" id="lufi">Csere()</script>222222
This works fine, but i'd like to eliminate the id attribute from script tag. I tried $(this).replaceWith('Duma'), and $(this).parent().replaceWith('Duma'), but neither works.

I'm trying to create a text-only version of one of my sites. I have a toggle link switching between text and full html versions. If text-only was selected, then it changes the stylesheet.However, I need to be able to replace all <img> tags with their associated alt attributes to make it completely text-only.

i have found a possible bug in 1.4 but it's only in Internet Explorer 7 & 8.The following code does not work and completely ruins every peice of jquery on the page (that means everything inside $(document).ready and anyting else...
$("<div/>",{
id: 'tooltip-'+rand,
class: 'dock-tooltip',
[code]....
I cant see any syntax errors - i pulled the example from the 1.4 site. There is no trailing commas in the object notation and i really cant see any reason it would work in firefox and not IEx and more to the point not only not work in IEx but break any other jquery in the entire page....

I'm working with a large (and unweildy) ASP.NET application, and there is a lot of jQuery code that uses selectors like this:
[name=_aspnetControl$_withASubControl] And unfortunately, some selectors that also look like this:
[name^=_someAspNetControl$_radioButtonList].
In other words, the effort to remove the $ from the attribute selectors would be monumental. If it is possible to escape the $ symbols, I can do that easily enough, but unfortunately the situation right now means that I can't upgrade to jQuery 1.5.

I'm having a little bit of difficulty wrapping my brain around how jQuery works but I think I can make the leap if I see a solution to a problem I know how to solve with other methods Given the following XML, please share a jQuery solution to finding the value of attribute B in elements named bar where attribute A has the value 30:

I'm looking for an expanding/collapsing tree directory type of navigation and was wondering if someone knows of a good one that's out there and available.
What I'm specifically looking for is one that is triggered on the click of a *graphic* that toggles the show/hide. Each text nav item should be hyperlinkable to it's own link/page. So for example (the + and - are the collapse/expand graphics, the dot leader is for some formatting) [code]...

I'll trying to tell the difference between the following three cases:
<img alt="text string" />
<img alt="" />
<img />
I can do this in Firefox with the following code, where elem is the
HTMLElement representing each image, but IE doesn't seem to
differentiate between empty string and undefined.
var alt = elem.getAttribute('alt');
alt = (alt) ? alt : ((alt===null) ? 'really_null' : "");
The desired output from running this code on the 3 tags above is:
text string
really_null
It seems like this should be really easy...but I'm having a really
difficult time trying to figure out what's going on...

I'm using the jQuery file tree pulgin to display server directories using jsp connector.
I'd like to know if we can change the callback function function(file) which alerts the file name upon single click can be changed or not.
So, Single click of folders should expand/collapse them. Double click on the folder should send back the folder name. Single click on files should send back the filename.

I want to execute some code when a node is either selected or deselected but I only want specific nodes not the whole tree.
Normally, I think you bind an event when you create the tree like $ ('.sidecontent').bind(........).jstree(data.tree); but that's for the whole tree, which I don't want. I have a selector for the nodes I want like $('a[id*="room_1"]') but I don't know how to bind an event to those nodes only. Is this possible? If it is, then what event should I use?

On the treeview "Large Tree Demo" page, when "Expanding All" the links at the bottom of the page are not displayed correctly. Some of the links don't connect to the parent nodes. I have tried this using IE8 and Firefix8 with the same results. Can this be fixed ?

It felt like 99% of everything I do with jQuery involves a database some tree-structure so I figured I'd try jsTree out. I uploaded the demo and the way it seem to work is for every parent in the tree it calls a function get_children (PHP) with AJAX which makes a SELECT-query for that node to get the immediate children.
Am I missing something or isn't that extremely demanding on the database? The way I always do is get as much as I can from the database in one go then put it into PHP-arrays. With that plugin as I've seen a lot is that they put all the database-calls inside a class, do all those queries get pre-loaded or something when you call "new Database"? Or is a SELECT-query for a few rows just not that demanding at all?

What does it mean to "walk the DOM tree"? How do you use it?
I hear programmers using this term loosely and I'm not sure what it means. I understand that DOM means Document Object Module and that they are referencing the additional elements whithin (X)HTML.

I've got a bit of ajax code that loads some content into a div. What I want to do is alter the href and action of all links and forms loaded into the div.
I thought the cleanest way to do this would have been to recursively look at all the child nodes of the div, and alter the href/action of any link or form elements that I encounter, is this do-able?

I'm trying to do something rather simple. I want to find the only
<form> inside of a <div> named "newreplyform". Here's my code:
var nrf = document.getElementById('newreplyform');
var form = nrf.getElementsByTag("form")[0];
But Firefox gives me an error: Error: nrf.getElementsByTag is not a
function
I'm a Python fanboy, and am just trying to get through some JavaScript
code as quickly as possible. Am I doing something completely misguided?

I need to remove the element with the class "group" on it from the DOM tree with javascript (eventually with prototype, but no other library). I don't only want to hide that paragraph, but remove it entirely from the DOM tree. My solution to use getElementsByClassName does not work.
function hidegroup() {
var group= document.getElementsByTagName("p")
.getElementsByClassName("group");
group.style.display = 'none';
group.removeChild();
}
THE HTML:
<div id="poems">
<div class="poem" id="d1">
<p class="group">
<a href="#">To the top of the page</a>
