JQuery :: Make A Smaller (less Width, 230px Wide To Be Exact) Version Of The Audio Player?
Aug 17, 2011
OK so the basic stylesheets comprise about 800 lines of code and look about as fragile as Trump's ego; I don't understand what most of these CSS selectors actually refer to and I'm intimidated about breaking something.I need to make a smaller (less width, 230px wide to be exact) version of the audio player.[URL]

See these demos here [URL]. I want to do the same thing (red on error and removes red upon correct entry) but only with one simple input (a spam question). All that jquery for one little thing seems def overkill. Anyone have a custom little script lying around or know of a example?

I am really lost in trying to hook up the controls. I've gone through and gotten all the files together from the demo, and tried using some of the UI helpers on "git" but I need an example to follow that's more for beginners

I am not sure whether this requires flash or not, therefore I'd like to ask if it is technically possible to create your own audio/video player with JavaScript/jQuery? If not, could I create something similar just not with full functionality? Like stop, next, previous, etc. buttons?

Using Jquery 1.4.4
I m currently trying to capture table cell width using jquery function width(), i m currently getting 1px width more in certain cells.
how to calculate exact width, also i believe the calulation goes wrong if i have borders.
(I believe drupal might be doing similar thing in admin panel)
(If somebody has query why i want table cell width: When a table is long and has scroll to add floating header like in drupal admin panel, by getting width of actual table cells i adjust floating header cells width using jquery)

I made the following, but wanted the user action to update the audio player status without a page refresh. Currently, the code opens another page with just the player and plays the track picked. How could I make this so only the player src="" changes and nothing else.
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"><title>HTML5 Audio Test</title>
<script type="text/javascript">

I am creating a very content rich news/media website that requires an audio player. The audio player should be seen by the user as soon as they enter the website and the playlist should play throughout their time spent at the website and should not be restarted or stopped when navigating the website.
We originally were using a frameset for the audio player, but the fact that none of the pages through out the site could be reached through a link in the URL bar proved to be too much of an issue.
So the new idea was to open the audio player in a javascript pop-up window. But because of the nature of the website, we found that it was very common for users to go "back" in their browser to the homepage after they had navigated away, which would cause the pop-up code to be activated again and would make the pop-up reload, interrupting the audio.
So then we moved the pop-up code to the splash page so that when you enter the main page, its already open, and it can't be interrupted. But THEN we found that the pop-up window was of course opened behind the main website's window, which made it hidden and useless.
So we currently have no solutions! All we need is for this pop-up window to take focus and be the very top window, and once its opened to never be reloaded/refreshed again.

On this page, when you click one of the item titles, a pop up box appears. Depending on the size, the music player interferes with it (displays in front and blocks some content). Is there a way to make the music player appear behind the pop up?

I'm working on a client's site and I decided to use a slider [URL]... it can be seen there as I develop it.
Here's the problem: If you refresh the page enough times, the table that contains the slider will go SUPER wide, it will go 2400px wide in fact. 2400px is the combined width of all my images.
When I followed the tutorial here on jQuery.com that value was originally set to 99999px ... you can imagine that before I changed that value, the table forced the page out to 99999px wide ... annoying.
Why not just adjust the width to the size of one image? Well I tried that. Each image is 600x300 so I set the width to 600 the result was ... WHOOPSIBROKEIT. The images stack all on top of eachother and slide together. I've noticed that when it happens it also throws off the alignment of the top portion of the site, for instance my center tags -- I'll be looking to see if maybe something outside of the plugin is causing it.

I am using the youtube chromeless player and embeding videos with loadVideoById() method problem is that videos with an id that contains an underscore or dash dont play although they play in the normal player. I also tried replacing with a hex value in querystring i.e (%5f) but that did not work I also tried loadVideoByUrl() method with several urls but still they don't load. here is my code
function switchToPlayer(ytid){
var params = { allowScriptAccess: "always"};
var atts = { id: ytid,onmouseover: "this.playVideo()",onmouseout: "this.pauseVideo()"};
swfobject.embedSWF("http://www.youtube.com/apiplayer?border=0&enablejsapi=1&playerapiid="+ytid, 'cell'+ytid, "150", "120", "8", "scripts/expressInstall.swf",null,params,atts);

The actual width of the browser window can be in a variety of DOM locations based on the browser:
width = window.innerWidth
width = document.documentElement.clientWidth
width = document.body.clientWidth
to mention a few.if the DOM also holds information about the width of the printed page?

I am trying to get started using JQuery, but I find I can't even get to lesson #1. When I go to jquery.com and click to download the latest version (or any version) it doesn't "download" anything. It opens the file as a webpage in my browser and I see all the JQuery in one big string. Why won't the file just download? Is it the browser I am using? Is it my Mac?
