JQuery :: Check If Link Is To An Image?
Oct 4, 2010
I'm trying to use jQuery to trigger a light box for images contained in a hyperlink inside a content area.
<div id="contentcontainer">
<a href="www.site.com/image.jpg">
<img src="www.site.com/image_thumb.jpg" />
</a>
</div>
Is it possible for jQuery to detect the link above is to an image? to assign a class to it.

I'm trying to figure out how I can check if a certain div on my page contains an image or not. Kind of; if (#div contains 'img'){do this} else {do that The div will always contain some code etc. but not an image typically. the image name is always the same: button.png if that matters.

When using the function to switch images as shown below, I want to check if the image is already in the cache to prevent showing the css .loading class. The .complete() object just made a lot of trouble but I couldn't use it probably. The switchImage Function is fired when pressing a thumbnail or a prev/next button.Is their any solution to check whether the image/url I want to load is already in the cache?

There are a couple of things I'm having issues with and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction:1) When you click the check boxes, the image area is selected in red. I'd like to make it so when you click on mild=yellow, moderate=orange, severe=red. But as the colour is specified in default_options. How do I specify the colour for each check box separately?2) I'd like to move the text and check boxes to the top left of the image (I can get the image to float right, but can't seem to move the text (as an asp:panel) to the top left. It is still at the bottom, even after playing with the height etc.

I just started with Jquery:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#desperation input[type=image]').attr('disabled', true).fadeTo
("fast", 0.10);
$('#1').attr('disabled', false).fadeTo("fast", 0.70);
});
$('#1').toggle(
function () {
$('#1').click(function() {
$('#1').fadeTo("fast", 1.00).attr('checked', true);
$('#2').attr('disabled', false);
});},
function () {
$('#1').click(function() {
$('#1').fadeTo("fast", 0.70).attr('checked', false);
$('#2').attr('disabled', true);
});});
</script>
<div id="skill">
<form action="javascript:void(null);" method="post"
enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" id="skillplanner"
name="skillplanner" >
<fieldset id="desperation"><legend>Freetrader Skills: Desperation</
legend>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/underdog.png" id="1"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/dump_guns.png" id="2"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/desperation_fire.png" id="3"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/rum_ration.png" id="4"></input>
<input type="image" src="files/icons/hasty_fire.png" id="5"></input>
</fieldset></form></div>
The problem is with the toggle function. On click it should "check" clicked one and activate next one. Function doesnt work and I dont have a clue....

I started using jQuery yesterday so im a noob. I have a navigation bar, and i want it to display a background image on the active menu item. (Like the top most menu on this website, it has a little blue underline)
[Code]...
Line 2: It loops though all the <a> tags in an <UL> with id nav_prim. (The <a> tags are inside of <li>'s in the <ul>.
Line 3: I check to see if the <a> tag's href atribute is the same as the URL of the page, if it is
Line 4: i want that specific <a> tag's background-image to be images/nav_bg.gif.
I can't get it to work. In firefox i get the error " $("ul#nav_prim a")[i].css" is not a function.
Why is that? Can anyone please help me? As i've said im new to jQuery and Javascript in general aswell.

I'm trying to do a basic image swap when a link is mouseovered. The idea is that you hover over a group of links that is associated with that image, and the image lights up. I have different sets of links and images all over the page.markup looks something like this:
<div class="container-left">
<img src="/images/logo1-off.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" />

I have spent more than 6 hours on the issue of having angle tag link wrap around the images using jquery cycle plugin but with no avail. It works fine on IE but Firefox. Since visiting the demo [URL] doesn't work I added javascript to replicate a parent div "#slider" for the <a> but only the first image works. Here is a little idea of the layout about my code:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo base_url(); ?>js/jquery.cycle.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo base_url(); ?>js/jquery.easing_1.3.pack.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo base_url(); ?>js/ui.core.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo base_url(); ?>js/jquery.cookie.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo base_url(); ?>js/jquery.scrollfollow.js"></script> .....

Anyways, I use the Jquery UI Tabs plugin for navigation within a page on my website. I have two tabs on this page and I would like to have one image at the bottom of the first tab content that just simply opens the second tabbed content. I read this wiki on the documentation section of the plugin page:
..select a tab from a text link instead of clicking a tab itself var $tabs = $('#example').tabs();
// first tab selected $('#my-text-link').click(function() {
// bind click event to link $tabs.tabs('select', 2);
// switch to third tab return false; });
This is the code that I have for the image (it also uses a simple javascript image hover effect on it as well)
<a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('consultation','','../weddings/pagegraphics/consult_b.png',1)"><span><img src="../weddings/pagegraphics/consult_a.gif" alt="set up a consultation now" name="consultation" width="293" height="36" border="0" id="consultation" align="right" /></span></a>
So when I read the the above wiki, i assumed that you put it in head like this:
$(function(){
/* $('#tab-me').tabs(); */
$('#tabmain').tabs(4, { fxFade: true, fxAutoHeight: true});
$('.scroll-paneMap').jScrollPane();
var $tabs = $('#tab1').tabs(); // first tab selected
$('#consultation').click(function() { // bind click event to link
$tabs.tabs('select', 2); // switch to third tab
return false;
});
Where I used the id of the image as the first "blind click event to link" and the name of the first tab that is opened when you view the page as "tab1" and the name/id of the tab that I would like to open on click is tab2. This is my basic code setup:
<div id="tab1" class="tabContent">
<div class="scroll-paneContact">
MAIN CONTENT GOES HERE
<a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('consultation','','../weddings/pagegraphics/consult_b.png',1)"><span><img src="../weddings/pagegraphics/consult_a.gif" alt="set up a consultation now" name="consultation" width="293" height="36" border="0" id="consultation" align="right" /></span></a>
</div><div>
<div id="tab2" class="tabContent">
<div class="scroll-paneContact" >
FORM TO LINK TO FROM TAB1 GOES HERE
</div></div>

I'm trying to achieve an effect where background image will change once you hover over a different link, but not sure how to go about that...Here's what I got:
HTML
<ul id = "list">
<li id="home"><a href="#">HOME</li></a>
<li id="about"><a href="#">ABOUT</li>
<li><a href="#">PORTFOLIO</li>
<li><a href="#">WORK</li>
<li><a href="#">CONTACT</li>
<li><a href="#">GET A QUOTE</li>
</ul>
CSS
body {
background-image: url(Images/home.jpg);
} ul li {
list-style-type:none;
font-size:36px;
font-family:Impact, Charcoal, sans-serif;
} a:hover {
background-color:#7EB6FF;
-moz-border-radius: 15px;
border-radius: 5px;
width:40px;
} a:link {
text-decoration:none;
}
And JS should probably go something like this:
$("#about").hover(function() {
$(this).css("background-image", "url('Images/about.jpg')");
});
Though this only leads to image being show only partially (given that its li element only, I suppose).

I have an image that has been resized via CSS to show as 100x100px on an HTML page. When clicked, I want to open the image in a colorbox - so the user can see the non resized/squashed version as it will normally appear. I've worked out how to set the path of the href to itself (so this doesn't have to be changed every time) (see below), although not sure how to get the colorbox part working - I tried changing 'each' to 'colorbox' - as per how you would normally assign the colorbox, and it opens, it just doesn't load the image in it.
<div class="logoImage"><img src="../tym_img_shared/background-2.jpg" alt="Your company logo" /></div>
$(document).ready(function(){
$('div.logoImage img').each(function(){
var $this = $(this);
$this.wrap('<a href="' + $this.attr('src') + '"></a>');
});
});
Thinking about it, perhaps it would be easier to also set the 're' attribute of the link whist setting the source?
$(document).ready(function(){
$('div.logoImage img').each(function(){
var $this = $(this);
$this.wrap('<a rel="gallery" href="' + $this.attr('src') + '"></a>');
});
});
Doesn't work for some reason - but it does if I hardcode the URL and rel?

I am trying to use facebox on my site where when a thumbnail of a image is loaded, the large image appears on top. Currently when I select the thumbnail link it goes to new page with large image. I have done the following but still doesn't seem to be working.
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<link href="facebox.css" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<link href="css/example.css" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script src="[URL]" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="facebox.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$('a[rel*=facebox]').facebox({
loadingImage : 'images/loading.gif',
closeImage : 'images/closelabel.png'
})})
</script> </head>
I have downloaded css and jquery files and places in relevant folder, also given images.
<a href="<?=WEB_PATH?>/images/large/<?=$Row['file_name']?>" rel="facebox">
This is where my large image files are saved.

Simple enough, checks to see if the image is accessible, I used it to check to see if my server had restarted yet, modify as you wish!

I'm looking for a JS code that will check the current browser and then use a different background image accordingly.Mainly for browsers like Flock and etc. that aren't yet CSS3 friendly (background-size:cover; etc.)I'm not looking for an alternative to CSS3, because, well, I like it! Just a way to check if the current browser is CSS3 friendly.[EDIT]I just started reading an article about Object Detection ttp://www.quirksmode.org/js/support.html). Seems like a better alternative to browser detection. However, how do I use JS to check if the browser supports a CSS3 statement???

Here is the HTML: [URL] I'm trying to uncheck the selected radio button, then set the value to 1 (Yes), basically overwriting theinitialvalue to 1. I've looked at prop(), val(), and attr(), and just don't know where to start. Should I select $('#set_q157 input') or$('#set_q157 input:radio'), or each individual radio?
Do I need to each them, and check if its checked, then change its value, or is there a way to select all three inputs as just one radial button? It would also need to work if the input has not yet been checked.
