JQuery :: How To Use String For Selector
Aug 4, 2009I can use $('p#T1') to select the <p> tag with an id of 'T1'. How would I select that <p> tag if 'T1' were a string? In other words, I'm passing 'T1' into the following function:

Jun 12, 2010I have very basic javascript skills, just started looking into jQuery and jQueryTools to enhance my websites. I have been coding PHP for about 1.5 years.I have a php form with which users can update their purchase order before making a final confirmation and payment.
Thought it would be nice if, instead of using php for redirecting to a success/fail message in a separate php file and redirecting again back to the form with a 3 second delay, I could get a jQuery script to pop up with a success/fail message, so avoiding all the clumsy php redirecting and page refreshing.I've searched for plugins, but they all act on event listeners attached to a submit button or other clickable html element.Ive searched the net for ages and can't find an easily understood explanation and complete example, where a jQuery pop up notification is displayed in response to a php script executing a db update.

Aug 16, 2004I'm using my site to send HTML-based emails to registered members. However, I can't keep track of who whether those e-mails are read or not.
Is there a script I can embed in these emails that will send a GET or POST request to a php script which updates a read value in the database? I can work all the DB issues but I have no idea what I will need for the script. I imagine it will have to be in Javascript.

Feb 2, 2011I'm having a little trouble with 2 differentJS scripts. I have a drop down slide menu and a parralex slide gallery. Both work on separate pages and puton the same page they still work however the submenu of the slide down menu does not. if I remove the style sheet that belongs to the gallery
Then the munu works, however (obviously) the page layout goes wrong. if i remove<h1 class="title">Alex Holland Perspective</h1> the menu works however page layout goes wrong andI loose my header

Oct 19, 2011I'm making a form with some fields. Once the form is submitted it updates the page with a new div containing the data entered without refreshing. Im using jquery form plugin. What I'd like to achieve is the new div(.record) to .slideDown. I guess I need to somehow specify the exact div by giving it an id or number. I'm not sure and why im here.
At the moment when i submit all of the divs(.record) are hidden with .hide, then they all slide down with .slide. Best i can understand is to hide the last div then slide down. But again.. I don't know how to specify to only slide down the last div added and not the current .record divs on the page.

Jul 10, 2007I've seen websites that had large flash ads that covered content on pages that, after they had run, resized or disappeared.
We would like to use the technology behind that (presumably JavaScript) to show and hide an intro flash on a home page. We would like to have a "close" link on the flash also.
I have searched Google and here but haven't found any good resources and many of the sites I have seen using the technology are no longer using them. I just need a little assistance on the JavaScript part of the puzzle.

Slide Up/Slide Down Using Multiple Divs
Nov 9, 2009I'm trying to get a mootools plugin to work with a slide in/slide out javascript using multiple divs. Here's the page: [url] The mootools code (Noobslide) slides a main image on the right when you click thumbnails on the left, which are wrapped in a thumb mask using CSS. The first row of thumbnails works perfectly, but when it's passed on to the next div the mask isn't passed on and the effect breaks down.

Aug 24, 2010Im a starting graphic designer, 21 yrs of age and just rolling into this webdesign industry. Ive come a long way, do have some knowledge.. but when it comes to complicated things like JS I often visit knowledgeable forums like these.
I hope I can contribute into making this community richer.
Now, Ive implemented this slide out menu succesfully before, only now it seems that ive mistaken somewhere. The menu just pops out instead of sliding out like it should.
