JQuery :: Selecting Objects In Dynamically Generated HTML?

Jun 3, 2009

I'd like to do something like this: After the page is loaded I have some forms with submit buttons. The buttons have a class called "open". By clicking any of these buttons the script is using AJAX to take some data from database and add some HTML to the document. This part of generated HTML has also buttons with a class "open". By clicking any of the new buttons script should do what it does with the old ones. The problem is I have no idea how to "refresh" a click function. After generating HTML it "sees" only the old buttons.

Here's some code:

$(document).ready(function(){
$(".open").click(function(){
var idVal = $(this).parent().parent().find("#PlaceId").val();
if($("#admin_places_"+idVal).html()=='')

Populating 'Select' Objects With Data From An Array

Apr 7, 2004

I am populating a ‘Select’ object with data from an Array, and I succeed in load the page with the required data on the ‘Select’ dropdown list. But when I see the source code generated (view-source code) from the browser there is no option on the ‘Select’, you can see this form the browser source code:

States: <select name="countries"></select><br><br>

And I want that appears the options generated in order to be able to talk with server, because server is waiting for some value (1, 2, 3 or 4). Now when I submit the form the server don’t recognize the option (value) received. So maybe the source code generated should be: Code:

JSON.stringify() Acceptable - Send All Of The Data From These Objects To PHP

Apr 27, 2010

I'm working on a very Javascript heavy application, and we've set up a number of different Objects to handle the data on the page. Very often, we'll need to send all of the data from these objects to PHP. Right now, we're using JSON.stringify. Are there any issues with this? It seem's like it does exactly what we need, but are there any downsides?

Selecting The Highest Calculated Average Of Varioous Data Inputs?

Oct 28, 2011

I've written a program which will prompt for a number of cities, Prompt for the name of the city, then prompt for the number of snowfall readings of that city, and then prompt for each of these individual snowfall readings of that city. From this, it adds up each of the individual snowfall readings of that city, and will calculate an average by dividing this figure [the total snowfall] by the total number of readings for that city. This average is used to then classify the city as "not snowy", "mild", or "blizzard". I'm happy to PM my code to anyone willing to help out, as I realise this is a complex structure to visualise perhaps, but I can't post it publicly.

JQuery :: Using .ajax() To Access Cross-domain Data Using JSONP - Able To Cache The Data

Jun 27, 2011

I am using .ajax() to access cross-domain data using JSONP. Because I need to be able to cache the data I want to use a static name for thejsonpCallback function, so I have set the jsonpCallback option in the .ajax() request. However that appears to requires a global function whereas the auto generated function didn't (well maybe it did but that was all hidden from me).

I definitely need to be able to cache the results. Ideally I wouldn't have a global function handling the data. Is there another way to do this? If not what is the best practice way to go about using a global function these days and how do I provide it with the context of the object/module it was called from - which is where the data is needed?

JQuery :: Form Data Not Displaying In Textarea On Subsequent Return Of Data From A Call?

Oct 5, 2011

Relatively new to jQuery but have a problem with getting data to display.Using a webform with 2 forms. User slects and inputs data into the first form, clicks a button then using jQuery .ajax submits the serialized data to a php script. The script processes the input into multiple paragraphs of text which is based on the input from the first form.The data is returned to the webpage and displayed in a text area (of the 2nd form) where the user can edit it to fine tune the wording. The 2 forms are displayed in different tabs so it is easy to move back and forward between the 2 forms.

The problem occurs when the user goes back to the first form and enters or selects different text and then click the submit button to generate a whole new text for insertion into the textarea on the second form. For certain fields the modified text is displayed.However if the whole of the text in the textarea is deleted, then the user clicks the submit button to re-generate the text content area then nothing at all is ever interted into the textarea. If have user alert to check that data is returned from the php handler and this text is correct. BUT when I click on the tab to see the textarea (id is "draftrec") there is no text inserted. The relevant function is below and the line that should insert the text into the textarea is:

$("textarea#draftrec").html(data).show();
//------------------------------------------------------
$("form#form1").submit(function(e){

JQuery :: Using .data() On Element With HTML5 Data Attributes?

Oct 18, 2010

I am trying to try jQuery 1.4.3 updated .data() method with HTML5 data attributes. The way I understood these changes is that an element with these attributes would automatically have their data populated by .data(). For example, if I have an element:

<ahref="#" data-cheese="cheddar">DataElement</a>

I can access this with .data('cheddar'). This part works fine. The issue I am having is that calling JUST data like $(this).data() just produces an empty object. Is this how it should be expected to function?

JQuery :: Selecting All Td Elements In A Row But The First One

Feb 18, 2011

I have the following code that works fine (except the show/hide animation for the rows is proving to be a pain to get working):

In the table this is for, I have a checkbox in the first cell in the row the user hovers and clicks on to expand the following row. I am trying to make it so that clicking the checkbox doesn't trigger the jQuery toggling action.

Here is a sample row in the table this is for. The complete row below is what the user clicks on, and the row after that (class="docClassesRow") is what is expanded on clicking the above row

I tried adding :not(:first-child) to the selector:

But that didn't work.

JQuery :: Selecting Only Within Generated DIV?

Feb 16, 2011

I've got a hidden template div that contains an <LI> that is cloned and added to an <UL> on the fly. The cloned <LI> items have placeholder IDs. What I want to do is find all the IDs *within the cloned <LI>* that has a defined string in it (and then replace that string with the proper index, etc.)

So, for example, here's the HTML of the template:
<DIV id='thisLineRowTemplate' style="display:none"> <LI class='arrow' id='thisLineTemplateLI'>
<a href='#ex_EXNUMBER'>
<DIV class='LABELCLASS thisLine_labelContainer'>
<TABLE height=100% width=100%>
<TR valign='center'><TD align='center'>EXLABEL</TD></TR>
</TABLE>
</DIV>
<IMG id='thisLine_checkmark_EXNUMBER' class='thisLine_checkMark_off' src="assets/checkmark.png" width=60px height=54px>
<DIV id='thisLine_item_EXNUMBER' class='thisLine_exNameContainer'>
<TABLE height=100% width=100%>
<TR valign='center'><TD>EXNAME</TD></TR>
</TABLE>
</DIV>
</a>
</LI>
</DIV>

And here's the code so far:
for(rowIdx=0;rowIdx<theRows.rows.length;rowIdx++) {
thisRow = $("#thisLineTemplateLI").clone();
$(thisRow).attr({'id':'thisLineRow_'+rowIdx, 'display':'block'}).appendTo("#theList")
$(thisRow 'select[id*="EXNUMBER"]').each(function() {console.log("Found a EXNUMBER")});
};
Line 4 is what's stumping me. The <LI>s are being cloned perfectly. I've tried a couple of different selectors but honestly, I'm still pretty new to jQuery, so some of the concepts continue to elude me. At this point, all I get is "Parse Error" on that line.
