JQuery :: Remove Rows From Tables According To Some Rules?
Aug 18, 2009
I have a table like this:
<table>
<tr class="item_collection_begin">
<td colspan="3"></td>
</tr>
[Code]....
To sum it up I have a rows that acts a header for a collection of item (class="item_collection_begin). Is there some way to click on a button and then all the items and their header (item_collection_begin), and their footer (item_collection_end, this is not mandatory that they have such one) are all hidden if there is no item in the collection where the cell (amount) is bigger than zero? I have got it to work for all the rows with items: $('#test .amount').filter(function (index) { return $(this).html() == 0; }).parent().remove(); But this does not hide item_collection_begin (and perhabs item_collection_end).

I'm using the validation plugin and I have a lot of rules set on my page [code]...
My question, how can I disable all the rules or the entire validation ? I can submit the form via two buttons to either save the page (here I need validation) or "delete" the current view (here I do not want any validation)

I have my own library for web-design building - active forms, lists. I
am going to build tabbing component. The complexity in this process
is that all web forms uniformed and are built as TABLEs, where
each field is TR. Tabs have to show/hide some of table rows.
I don't know how TR's properties must be changed in order to hide them
all.
I tried make HTML code like
<TR>...</TR>
....
<DIV id=tab1>
<TR>...</TR>
....
</DIV>
<TR>...</TR>
....
And tried to change visibility of a DIV, but this doesn't work.
How can I change visibility of set of TRs?

I'm a newbie to jQuery and I'm facing a "big" problem for my actual knowledge.. code...
If I run the code and click on "Delete" what I can obtain is only a partial remove of fields (the "Label4" and "Label5" still remains on the screen, all the others are removed)... but what I really need is a complete remove all of the "two" rows... I did many search on the forum but I wasn't able to find an answer .

allow me to delete the row created
I am having no luck doing this
if i add a button using createelement and assosiate code with it the
code executes when i create the row.
script as follows:
<HTML><HEAD>
<TITLE>test</TITLE>
<script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
__uid = 0;
doc = document;
function addRowTo(id) {
var tbl = doc.getElementById(id);
//create a new row
var newrow = doc.createElement("TR");
var newcol , newinput;
newcol = doc.createElement("TD");
newcol.width = 200;
newinput = doc.createElement("input");
newinput.name = "date";
newinput.size = 20;
newinput.value = doc.main.date.value
newcol.appendChild(newinput);
newrow.appendChild(newcol);
newcol = doc.createElement("TD");
newcol.width = 200;
newinput = doc.createElement("input");
newinput.name = "start"+__uid;
newinput.size = 20;
newinput.value = doc.main.start.value
newcol.appendChild(newinput);
newrow.appendChild(newcol);
newcol = doc.createElement("TD");
newcol.width = 200;
newinput = doc.createElement("input");
newinput.name = "end"+__uid;
newinput.size = 20;
newinput.value = doc.main.end.value
newcol.appendChild(newinput);
newrow.appendChild(newcol);
tbl.appendChild(newrow);
__uid++;
document.main.date.value = ''
document.main.start.value = ''
document.main.end.value = ''
document.main.date.focus();

I am trying to add functionality to a table that allows users to add and remove table rows, but I am stuck on the JS part of it. The JS I am working with allows users to add/remove table rows that are populated with text input fields, but I want it so where the rows are populated with these elements: 1) multiple select with populated options, 2) file upload box (input type="file"). How to modify the JS below to do this (I am new to JS).
Here is the JS I am working with:
Code:
function addRow(tableID) {
var table = document.getElementById(tableID);
var rowCount = table.rows.length;
var row = table.insertRow(rowCount);
var cell1 = row.insertCell(0);
var element1 = document.createElement("input");
element1.type = "checkbox";
cell1.appendChild(element1); .....

I use the below code to add or remove a row from a table using javascript. The code works fine on IE however it doesnt work on Firefox, can anybody suggest reasons why this might be doing so?
The id "table1" is the ID of the table I am trying to insert the innerhtml into.
function addRoom()
{
var row = document.all("table1").insertRow();
var column = row.insertCell();
column.innerHTML = "input type='text' name=txt1>";

This is an example of what I currently have. There is also a button which adds more rows. It wasn't too hard to get it working using CSS and innerHTML:
<div id="main container">
<div id="row-1">
<input.....
</div>
<div id="row-2">
<input.....
</div>
etc
However, due to mass css headaches with the layout, I' like to see if it can be done it tables instead and using the DOM methods (nodes, createElement etc)
so far, the examples I've seen either don't allow the same functionality or don't work across IE5+(win), and modern versions of FFox, Safari and Netscape (MAC + WIN)
Does anyone know of a good class/example/tutorial?

I have some JQuery that makes an Ajax call and then adds some rows to an existing table.
function
LoadDestinationTable() {
$("#destinationTable tr:gt(0)"[code]...
The problem is that the only place where the click event fires is on the rows that were added when the page was 1st rendered – the th, for example.I also tried adding an onclick event handler to the input button’s creation – that also does not fire.

I have 2 checkbox rules that are overlapping.
This one runs first
This one runs second:
So basically the first one runs if BMFNP is checked, and INTEF isn't it checks INTEF and runs the alert. At that time, both are checked so it runs the second function. How can I fix this? I need both to work and display different messages for each situation, if BMFNP is checked, INTEF isn't check INTEF and alert it has been added and BMFNP can only do xxxxx. If both are checked, simply alert that BMFNP can only do xxxx, no need to alert it has been added.

I apologize for posting again - Joern, the developer who built this plugin made a suggestion but I never heard back on a follow up question. I am using validate on a fairly big project. The problem I'm running into is that our e-commerce environment is writing a fairly cumbersome value into each input's name field. It's basically pointing to the form handler. This itself makes it difficult to build rules because the name attribute can be 100 characters long. It's also possible that the path to the form handler will change which is troublesome.
The ideal solution is to have set the validation rules and messaging on the id of the input. Joern indicated that this would be possible, but I need some help going about it.

Is it possible to do this as a form validate rule?

I have been using the validation plugin for my form validations. The current scenario is thus :
1. I have a form.
2. There is an option for the user to specify a number (Any digit) in one of the textboxes.
3. Depending on the number , i create that many number of textboxes with a particular type of id and name [For Eg: txtEmail_1 , txtEmail_2]
4. Now, these textboxes (all of them) should have to be validated for 'Email','Required', etc.
How do i add rules to these textboxes dynamically??

I have created a php filter for a form that returns an error message if someone uses profanity in the comments field and makes them redo that field before inserting into a database. Here is the code I use for that (I have omitted the lengthy list of profanity..):
Code:
if (isset($_POST['comments'])){
$comments = $_POST['comments'];
$filter=array("badword1", "badword2");
for ($i = 0; $i < count($filter); $i++) { .....
if (preg_match("/".$filter[$i]."/i", $comments)) {
$profanity_msg="Profanity is not allowed";
}}}
//Then this before the form
if(isset($profanity_msg)){
echo $profanity_msg;
}
However, the rest of my form is validated through JQuery Validator and I would like to make a rule that would do the filtering instead of relying on the php. Here is a sketch of what I think I will need to do to build the custom rule, but I am not sure how to write the equivalent function to my php code above.
Code:
$(document).ready(function(){
//custom validation rule - profanity
$.validator.addMethod("profanity",
"Equivalent of my php function goes here..."
);
//validation implementation will go here.
$("#TestForm").validate({
rules: {
comments: {
required: true,
profanity: true
}},
messages: {
comments: {
required: "* Required",
profanity: "* No Profanity Allowed"
}}});
})
