JQuery :: Pull Down Menu That Modifies A Search Box?
Aug 15, 2011
I've managed to use a few pieces (Fancybox, Active Tabs)
I've been tasked with creating a pull down menu that modifies a search box. Very similar actually to the type of search you see on the top left of the jQuery Plugins page:
[URL]
So I need a pull down menu with multiple options that restrict the search box to only to search the selected option.
I don't understand the relation between the two boxes and how to pass the first option to the search box. Is there an existing plugin for this? Or a tutorial that someone can point me to? Or if the answer is, "Go read this book first" I'm happy to read that book.
The options in one of my pull down menus link to other sections of the same page. I've noticed that selecting one of these links opens a new instance of the entire page instead of just scrolling down to the appropriate section. How can I make the menu do what I want?
<form name="f1"> <select name="s1" class="hnhjumpbox"> <option value="#">See our Policies...</option> <option value="#">----------</option> <option value="#service">Service</option> <option value="#payment">Payment</option> <option value="#packing">Packing</option> <option value="#shipping">Shipping</option> <option value="#returns">Returns</option> </select> <input type="button" name="test" class="hnhjumpboxbutton" value="Go" title="Select a link from the drop-down menu first!" onClick="location=document.f1.s1.options[document.f1.s1.selectedIndex].value ;"></form>
For instance, I have an anchor at the Payment section. When I select the Payment link from the pull down menu, a new instance of the page opens and then jumps down to the Payment section. I want it to jump down to the payment section without opening a new page.
I am new to Javascript and I am having problems with loading a pull down menu.
I get this error: javax.servlet.ServletException: No data found
It will list the items just fine if I just list the items without using the select & option tags. I would like to know why I am getting an error with the following statement:
I have a client who requires a dynamic pull down menu (chained Select Menu) and also requires that it does a basic price estimation based on the selected options from the menus. I have been toying around with Xin Yang Chained Select Menu(Sample A1) as well as a randomly found javascript calculator(sample A2) I found through google search. When trying to combine the two the calculator becomes broken.
I've been asked to create a site for my younger sister and she's requested a horizontal pull-down menu using graphics for the links instead of simply text. This is my first time trying to code such a menu (topic not covered in class) and I'm having some difficulty getting it to work completely.
Right now it's partially working. The various sub menus do show up when clicking or rolling over the previous menu item. However all menu items past the one clicked jump down one line when expanding instead of simply showing the sub menu under the main line up. The rollover also has issues but mostly because I haven't finished coding the onmouseout part, so it doesn't go away. I'm trying to get the main pull down working before tackling that part. Below is the JavaScript function I'm trying to use as well as a part of the menu. I've already spent months trying to get this working and am not making much headway.
I have this code, I know it has ASP in it but the ASP isnt giving me the hard time, the javascript is (I think...). Right now users can use this drop down menu to get to a certain page, but instead i need to have them type in a number and then have it go to that page in a new window (as they are PDF files) and if not, display an error. Right now I have
<select name="catalogPage" > <%for i = 1 to 396%> <option value="<%=i%>.pdf"><%=i%></option> <%next%> </select>
And that works fine, but Ive tried countless different things and nothing seems to give me the desired result.
I'm creating different pages on a website for each branch in the country for a business. The way the user gets to their branch is through a dreamweaver generated jump menu.My question is: Will search engine robots crawl the pages that are linked via the jump menu?So for example the page for the London branch can only be navigated to via the jump menu (or typing in the url in the address bar). Will a search engine index this page? The jump menu script is below:
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function MM_jumpMenuGo(objId,targ,restore){ //v9.0
I have a search field on the website, and when I type a word to search, it search good, but after preforming the search, the search term from search text field disappears and become the default 'Search' word.
How can I make search term stay in search field after preforming a search ? For example, when I type into the search field 'JavaScript' I want that term to stay in search field and after the search is done.
Now i just want to edit one thing, when you search for something, results are shown under the search field, when you click on each result, goes to a link.
I want when clicking on a result, not going to link, just show that result string on the search field. where should i edit in script?
I have created a similar smart search like yellowpages:[URL]... Here is the problem I have with mine:
Lets say I search 'Attorneys' I start typing 'Att' ... then 'Attorneys' shows up in the smart search so I click on it and press enter. The next time I start typing 'Att' my browsers saved search field pops up over the websites smart search. Here is an image which might help explain the problem a bit more:
Hey fellow coders. I've been searching for a script, but I'm coming up empty. The script will display products in a single row full screen left to right. To slide the products there is a pull bar. You can see how the exact script works on Keyboards.
I have chosen to use Google Custom Search with my website and was given the following code, my question is, how can i pass a search query from my homepage which has a standard form on there to the search page which holds this code?
I am given a search box within this code but would prefer to use my own on the homepage...
I have trouble with SuperFish Menu, of course it looks very nice and is good solution, but I am not advanced in CSS language.how to change space between menu and submenu in Navi-bar type menu? Now sobmenu hide part of menu, I have to must space.....
i have a page which loads content into a div from a hidden div. There are about 8 hidden divs all loaded with content loaded. Then when the user clicks a link the visible div is loaded with the content from one of them. Is this the best way? or should i be loading the content from another script via $.get()?
i use the same thing on my PM system which loads 10 hidden divs. So should i really be using $.get() for this aswell?
I am using slideDown() and slideUp() in an accordian style menu to reveal and conceal sections of the menu. By default it seems that these methods will open and close from the top or bottom respectively.
Is there a way to use the methods so that the bottom of the element seems to be being pulled down or pushed up rather than simply revealed or concealed? There are styling elements added dynamically to wrap each heading and section which is why they have containers and why the iteration through parents() is necessary.
This can't be too hard, but I'm not seeing the answer. Elements on a web page may contain a class starting with "tr_". Sample HTML:I'm using the following to select matching elements: $('[class*=tr_]').each(function() So far so good. But now, I need to get the name of the class that starts with "tr_" from each matching element.
I'm working on a project and within a document I have content being loaded into an iframe. When a user clicks on an item in the iframe, a pop-up div is loaded using the facebox plugin but it's obviously contained by the iframe. Is there any way that I can pull that element out of the iframe into the parent document? Or at least position it so it looks like it's part of the parent document and not the iframe? My reasoning for this is sizing and positioning. I want to expand the size of the facebox div and position it over top of some of the parent document elements but, since it's within the iframe, I'm limited to the size of the iframe and positioning is limited to being within the iframe.
I am following the following example to create predictive text pull out of the database.[URL]... Seemed quite easy but it seems like it's not working for me, maybe because i'm doing something wrong?
This is the page:[URL]... If you start typing in the big search box the suggestions box appears in the wrong place, and it should be returning some results but it's not.
I have a website that I'm designing where I have the need to search multiple sites at specific times. By this I mean that In some cases, we would want to search only the internet using google, or only search the site that I've created (which currently uses the jse_search.js solution), or only our company's website.
I currently have four different search boxes that will search either the internet, the internal site, a separate internal site, or a third-party website, which all working fine. The problem is that the search boxes take up quite a bit of space, and the layout is becoming cumbersome. Is there a way in Javascript I could use a single search box and a drop-down list to select which method to use? The code I'm currently using is below. With the exception of the Google search function, I've modified some of the site names to general site names and paths to preserve the company's anonymity:
Code in the <head> tag: <script language="JavaScript1.3" type="text/javascript" src="jse_form.js"> </script> Code in the <body> tag: <!--Begin Internal Site Search 1!-->
