JQuery :: Mouse Hover - The Over State Is Getting Stuck - Inside Of A Div With The Id = NavContain - Few Images
Jun 2, 2011
Here is the code -
Let me explain what is going on. Inside of a div with the id = navContain, are a few images. These images are used as navigation links. These images have the class = imgPos. When you roll over one of these images, the css top property adds 92 pixels.
The image contains two different colored variations of the word "HOME." When the image is in its off state, the word home is white. When you roll over the image, jQuery animates it so that the white text of the word "HOME" slides down, and then a colored version of the word "HOME" slides down and takes its place. This is the same image, just its top property is being changed. jQuery does nothing more than change the top property.
The problem: Sometimes when you roll your mouse over it for the first time, it properly animates to the over state, but then gets stuck in that state even when you mouse off of it. Still in its over state, if you mouse over it again, the over state jumps up and down violently. It never goes back to the state where the text should be white - its original state.
I've tried the stop() function, as you can see in my code. Still, this problem persists and I can't seem to figure it out alone.

I am trying to make different images hover over a table of sliced images when you mouse over a particular image. ex. mouse over image 1 = have image 1.1 hover over entire table of images in spot A; mouse over image 2 = have image 2.2 hover over entire table of images in spot B....ect. what i have so far only allows me to mouse over image 1 and have image 1.1 hover over entire table in spot A. Any time i try to move forward with more div's on other images it just jacks everything up.
Here it is: <html>

I have a div A that when I mouse hover creates and appends in run time another div B inside with an higher z-index. This new div B is a info div that I want to show within the limits of the div A. When I mouse out div A, the div B is removed. The problem is that when I mouse hover the B div, it runs the mouse out event of the div A, and cleans the div B, and I want to maintain it while the mouse is still on the boundaries of the div A! Is there a way to avoid the mouse out event of the div A when the mouse is on top of the div B? IS is necessary to calculate the coordinates of the mouse and check if it is in the boundaries of the div A? By the way, I am using live("mouseover",fn) and live("mouseout",fn) to handle the mouse hover events.

I used the code from the following article...[URL]
$(function() {
$('img[data-hover]').hover(function() {
$(this).attr('tmp', $(this).attr('src')).attr('src', $(this).attr('data-hover')).attr('data-hover',
[code]...
why does the rolled over image's src return to the original value when the user rolls back off it?

I'm using Jquery to create a rollover effect on 2 images (placed on top of each other) to fade the bottom image in on a mouseover and out on a mouse out. Clicking the faded in image also opens a fancybox gallery. The problem is that sometimes the animation (the fade in and out) gets stuck after closing the fancybox window and the mouseover doesn't work anymore.
Here's my code for the mouseover:

Issue with Internet Explorer 7 and the Hover State of this div (highlighted in red).[url]
To view an example of what's going on. If I try simply using jquery's mouseover() function without a mouseout () it actually works in the red area, so for some reason a mouseout() is always getting triggered in the left area of the left most box and there's nothing different in that box's css vs. the others.

I have an image that I start out with opacity = 0. Then when I rollover the image area the opacity is set to 1 so I can see the image, and when I roll off of the image the opacity is set back to 0:
This works fine. But the image has an image map that defines a small hot spot. When I roll over the hot spot the image hover state is interrupted and the image goes away. Does anyone know how I can keep the image hover state active when rolling over the image hot spot?

I am finishing up my website, right now I am using Flexcroll for the scrollbar in my main content window. Problem is, I want people to be able to use the mouse wheel to scroll that content window regardless of the mouse position.
My website is www. paulfenton .tk/wordpress if you want to see it.
I was wondering if anyone knew a way I can keep the mouse wheel focus on that internal div so I can scroll up and down at all times.

I have 6 horizontal navigation image links on top of my site. The regular images are black n white, but on the hover they transform to a colored image. Each image leads to a different page on my site, I'm wondering if I can make the image corresponding to that page light up whenever on that page.

I use sprites for rollover effects so the hover attribute just changes the background image position. Everything works cool with the rollovers. What I would like to do, is make a text link that when rolled over will change a separate background image to it's hover state. I should add, that the the rollover image has it's own div and is separate from where the text link is located. To get a visual you can check the website [URL] In the body section I would like to make each of the dark red section titles a link that when rolled over will change the hover state of the corresponding "more" button.

What you can see is that I have a bunch of images which form a chart, each of the images has multiple classes.I want to write a function which when called fades in/out images dependant on whether all related checkboxes are checked or not.Checkboxes are related to the images by id on the checkbox and class on the image, as I'm sure you can see. I will be calling this method each time a checkbox is checked.

I want to create a webpage that has a grid of 8 images displayed on the left side of the page. All the images are "dimmed" by default and when the user moves their mouse over an image, it lightens to its normal state. What I want to do is when they hover the mouse over an image, display a chunk of text in thearea to theright of the image grid. Essentially, the images act as a kind of menu and when the mouse hovers I want some details to be displayed. Ideally, I want to format the text to make it look good - so am not sure if it would be better to create an image containing my text and display this image when the mouse hovers.

I have built a hidden div as you can see in the source code which contains some text. I have done these for the first two images
I would like when a user hovers over each image, the image to fade out with the text div for that image to fade in.
Then when the user moves the mouse out, the text div should fade out and the image should fade in.

I created an html page and wrote javascript which uses jquery's hover() method. It converts a textfield into a span when mouse leaves the textfield and converts the span back to textfield when mouse enters the span. Also,I created a button, which when clicked executes a function that takes the val() of element with id='title' and shows it in an alert. I encountered two problems:
1. This works fine as long as the text field contains default text. But if I leave the textfield blank by default, the hover method can't detect the span and will not convert it to textfield. Is there some way I can create the textfield blank and yet make hover() work?
2. After I place mouse over the span and enters some value in the textfield, I move the mouse cursor onto the button and clicks it. At this moment, the span has a an id='title' and so $("#title").val() should get the entered text.
However ,the alert shows empty string of length=0. I tried this ,without moving the mouse cursor out of textfield and clicked the button using TAB-Enter.This time the alert shows the correct entered text. Why is this happening? Shouldn't the $("#title") be able to get the span element with id=title and .val() retrieve its text?
The html is
<html xmlns="[URL]"
xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
...
<script type="text/javascript" src="../includes/jquery-1.4.2.js" </script>
<script type="text/javascript" src= "../includes/sample.js" </script> .....

function() {
$("#service_box1").stop().animate({backgroundPosition:"(0 -250px)"}, "slow");
},
function() {

}
);
});
</script>
css:

}
a#box1_trigger{

I have some code which moves an element from one position in the document to another, when a link is clicked. The link itself is moved as well. The CSS makes the link's background change colour when hovering.
This problem is only occurring in IE6/7/8, which is that, when the element (containing the hyperlink which was clicked) is moved, the "hover" state of the link remains "on", that is the background colour remains, even though the link is now somewhere else on the page and no longer under the mouse. The only thing which turns the hover effect off is to move the mouse over and away from it again.
Works fine in Firefox and Chrome, the hover state disappears when the link is moved.
Question is, how do I programmatically switch the link's hover state off, so it goes back to normal in IE? I've tried .blur(), .mouseout(), resetting the className, no luck so far.
[ed] Here's a code demo of the effect in action.
