JQuery :: Loading New Content When Scrolled To Bottom Of Page
May 15, 2011
I have built a site that loads new content from a database when the user hits the end of the page. This works fine in all desktop browsers and on the iPad, but is not working on the iPhone. Have tried an iPhone 3g and 4.
Here is the code:
$(window).scroll(function(){
if($(window).scrollTop() == $(document).height() - $(window).height()){
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'nextSet.php',
data: "?dummy=" + new Date().getTime(),
dataType: 'html',
cache: false,
beforeSend: function() {
$('#scrollLoading').show();
$('#scrollLoading').html('<p><img src="/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="loading..." /></p>');
},
success: function(response){
$('#scrollLoading').hide();
$('#resultsPageSearch p').css('margin','0');
$('#sortDrop').show();
$('select.sortddl').selectmenu('destroy');
$('select.sortddl').selectmenu({style:'dropdown'});
$('#resultsSection').append(innerShiv(response));
},
error: function (request, status, error) {
alert(request.statusText);
}});}});

I hired a programmer to develop a drag and drop system for my blog. The user should be able to browse one of my blog entries and click, drag and drop an image from my entry to a fixed bottom bar on that page.The problem we are facing is that when dragging an image, it wont place it on the bottom bar until the whole page is scrolled down to the bottom of the page. This is a problem because some of the pages can be very lengthy

I was hoping there is some way to fix this, in IE7 and 9beta when you navigate between pages from my main nav the page loads scrolled to the bottom. It seems to be pretty random and will not reproduce consistently. Is there a way to force all anchors with a certain class to scroll to the top?

I'm building a simple portfolio gallery and am having trouble determining why the content is loading at the bottom of the page and then "jumping" into place once all images are loaded. This occurs in all browsers I tested on both the Mac and PC which were Mac - Firefox 3.0.5, Safari 3.2.1, Opera 9.6.3. PC-IE 6 and 7, Firefox 3.0.5, and Opera 9.27.
Here's the link to the sample page:

I'm trying to recreate a behaviour which enables a disabled checkbox after the user has completely scrolled down to the bottom of a textarea ("agree to license terms"). My current state can be found at http:[url]....The checkbox is not being enabled with my approach. I can enable the checkbox if I explicitly set scrollTop to a value, but then I'm not able to scroll anymore at all. So I am guessing it probably has to do with the scroll check not working properly.

I have a banner that has image navigation on the lower right. The navigation links are images which, when clicked, change the banner without reloading the page. The actual switching of the banner is working when each image is clicked.
However, my problem is this:
The page itself is long and must be vertically-scrolled to see the entire content. Because of the scrolling, the banner could appear anywhere vertically on the page. And whenever I click the banner navigation hrefs, the page "jumps" so that the banner is at the top. The page should really stay in the fixed position.
I'm not sure how to set it up so that no matter where the banner section is on the scrolled page, that the page stays in the same position when the navigation is clicked.
My href's in that navigation are set up as :
Do I need something in my script so that the page won't jump? Or am I missing something in the HTML?

I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.
The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.
After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.
The current code is:
CSS for the loading DIV is:
A working link is [url]

My firefox plugin called yslow that gives advice on speeding up loading times says: JavaScript scripts block parallel downloads; that is, when a script is downloading, the browser will not start any other downloads. the page load faster, move scripts to the bottom of the page if they are deferrable.
I always thought that js should be in the header. What do you think?

Stuck in the bottom-right corner of this page is a Social Media sharing tool floating over the page content. It's semi-transparency changes upon hover. It grows out from the corner upon hover as well. [URL] I'm thinking it's ShareBar but I don't see anything like it on the ShareBar site.

I can use the jQuery ajax function to grab all of the html from a remote page, and that's cool. What I would like to do is to grab only a particular element of the remote page, not the entire page. Is this possible? I've tried some variations of the ajax 'url' param, but I haven't gotten anything to work yet.

I've gotten .load to load content into a div but if the window is not at the top of the page it scrolls back to the top each time the new content is loaded but I wanted to avoid any sort of change on the page other than the content in the div. It seems pointless if the user has to scroll back down to the div where the content is each time? code...
Is there a way to keep the window in the same position? Also while I'm at it - is there a more efficient way to write this considering I have 9 pages or should I just write this code out for each instance?

I have a page which has large contents. If I open the dialog when page is has been opened, the dialog is fine and it closes well. Now, If I have opened my main page and scrool down to page and at the end there is a link for opening dialog, then the dialog opens to current window position and page is scrolled up to top. Now dialog has been opened but it is too below that I cant see it. I have tested that when we scroll down the jquery function takes the scrooled position as its top position and so opening popup for that relative position.
My code is.
$dialog.dialog({
title: title,
autoOpen: true,
width: width,
height: height,
modal: true,
resizable: true,
autoResize: false,
position: [0,0],
overlay: {
opacity: 0.3,
background: "black"
}}).width(eval(eval(width) - horizontalPadding)).height(eval(eval(height) - verticalPadding));
How I can open it on top of page?

How would I start to go about this? I'd like an <h3> to display and slide in whenever the user scrolls to a certain position on the page. For example, once a certain content div is 50% displayed in the viewport, I'd like the animation to fire.

I'm creating a section for a school website that will list over 9,000 book titles in four different categories (by Title, by Author, by Book Level, and by Points).
The content is shown in a div and called and loaded via Ajax.
Here is the test page: [URL] you click "Go" when the drop down menu is displaying By Book Title, the content loads in the div in a few moments.
Here is the content page that appears in the div after you click "Go": [URL]
If possible, I need a "page loading..." script that will appear only after you click "Go" while the list of books is being loaded.
I've been testing different ones I've found online, but can't get any to work. Of course, I'm not even sure if the script would be added to artest.html, 1112-QuistListByTitle.html, or a combination of both...

I've been ordered to prepare a simple website and I've found the following on some website to load some content into a div without reloading everything on the page.
HTML Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
<script language="javascript">
function Load(div, link) {
$(div).load(link);
}
</script>
<a href="#" onclick="Load('#page-content','project.htm');">About the Project</a>
It works and loads project.htm into div id=page-content.
The problem is that it adds just the hash to the main html (default.html) in the website url. When I hit F5 I go back to the main page as even though the content of some div's is different, the url is still just default.html. When I click a link it should load some content into a div and alter the url so when someone refreshes the page or shares a link with someone he can see what he is meant to not the main page.

I'm looking for a solution where I can show hidden parts of a page when a person submits a successful captcha. Of course, the parts of the page that are hidden shouldn't be available for viewing via code. Is this possible to do? Are there any scripts available that enable me to do this without reloading the whole page or loading a new one?

I created a bookmarklet script to help me audit extremely large style sheets.Basically while on a site that you would like to audit, you click the bookmarklet and the document's body contents gets remove and replaced with an iframe that points to the current sites home page. From here you can choose what style sheet (the script finds) to begin reporting over. The more pages you browse (through the iframe) the more accurate the report gets.My problem however, is if the person is on the site's home page when first running the script, the iframe never loads up. I think it has to do with the fact that you are on the home page, and then the iframe tries to point to the home page as well and fails for some reason.You can test it by bookmarking this bookmarklet and running it on any site's home page where style sheets can be found:
Get The Bookmarklet on this page (http://tinyurl.com/3gx7fw5)
Again, it works great if you don't start the script from a sites home page.

I thought this would be easy but I'm stuck and I can't describe what's really simple so I've drawn a diagram. [URL]. I have a div containing an image like 1 in the diagram. I only want to show the top of the image like 2 in the diagram. When I hover over the div I want the image to scroll up to show the bottom of the image like 3 in the diagram. [URL].
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"[URL]">
<html xmlns="[URL]" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<title>untitled</title>
<style type="text/css" media="screen">
*{
margin:0;
padding:0;
}
#wrap{
margin:50px;
width:700px;
}
ul{
list-style:none;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div id="wrap">
<ul>
<li><a href="#" id="one"><img src="img.gif" width="250" height="200"/></a></li>
</ul>
</div>
<script src="[URL]"type="text/javascript"></script>
<script>
$('li').hover(function(){
$(this).find('img').animate({top: + (-200) + 'px'},200);
})
return false;
</script>
</body>
</html>

A website I've been working on has a black bar across the bottom. Under some conditions, however, there is a gap between the bar and the bottom of the page -- white for the body. The conditions vary between browsers and OSes. To keep things simple, I'll describe what happens with my principle development environment -- Chrome under Ubuntu.
The main body of the website is fixed width, centered against a neutral background. If the browser window is narrowed so that a horizontal scrollbar appears, the gap appears.
I have tried various things to find the gap so I can move the bar down or whatever but nothing seems to work. I tried using the document height but I found that it is greater than the actual display area which probably means that it is including something not visible (which is fine) but how do I reliably determine the extra? Or is there another solution I should be looking at (I won't bother listing all that I have tried)?

Fairly new to the Jquery game and I must say it rocks. I am trying to load new contents of one page into the div of a current page. My test URL can be foundWhen the first url (contact) is clicked the contents are loaded into the div, however if you click on the next link (about) it takes you straight to the about page as the contents are not loaded . Can anyone assist on how I can make this happen? I think it has something to do with the dom already being loaded.Here is my code
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#content a').click(function(){
var toLoad = $(this).attr('href')+' #content';

I'm building a site right now that has a left column navigation and the navigation is nested inside a div, which is nested inside a table cell (i.e., <td>). I'm using JQuery to make it so when the user scrolls down the page, the div slides down smoothly and always stays at the top of the page. I have this working just fine, but when I change resolutions (i.e., 1024x768), the div scrolls over the bottom of the page, which is what I don't want. How can I calculate in order for the div to know when it hast reached the bottom of the table cell? I tried using outerHeight to calculate the height of the table cell and then subtracting the height of the div from it, but I'm clearly doing it wrong because it's still not working. You can view the page I'm referring to at [URL].
The JS code I'm using is below.
var name = "#scroller";
var menu_top_limit = 0;
var menu_bottom_limit = $('#holder > #scroller').outerHeight() - 560;
var menu_top_margin = -15;
var menu_shift_duration = 500;
var menuYloc = null;
$(window).scroll(function(){
// Calculate the top offset, adding a limit
offset = menuYloc + $(document).scrollTop() + menu_top_margin;
// Limit the offset to 0 pixels...
// This keeps the menu within it's containing TD boundaries
if(offset < menu_top_limit){
offset = menu_top_limit;
// Give it the PX for pixels:
offset += "px"; }
/*else if(offset > menu_bottom_limit){
offset = menu_bottom_limit;
offset += "px";
}*/
// Animate:
$(name).animate({top:offset},
{duration:menu_shift_duration,queue:false});
