JQuery :: Getting Selected Option From A Complex Drop Down List?
Oct 20, 2011
I am having trouble getting the selected option in a list of more than 20 items in sharepoint, The code below works for lists of 20 or less but not for lists of greater than 20. If any one has a snipet of code that will enable me to set a variable with the selected value from a complex dropdown it
I am trying to create a drop down list which depend to the value selected from the previous drop down list. I can add it without problem, but If I change again the value of the first drop down list I would like to remove the previous drop down list generated from the first value. If I try to remove it when I create the element, it even does not create the element, the remove element function seems to work because when you click on the remove link it works.
I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.
I have a select control that has over 400<option></option>. To cut down on the user having to scroll through all 400 options I have included a text control that acts as a "Quick Index" and with each char entered into the text box the options are narowed. The problem I am having isthe once I have determined which option should be selected, how to set the option to value of "selected"
When user select, for example, option 3, how can i find which was the previously selected option? etc... I've found some javascript example that evaluate "previousIndex" property of the select element but it doesn't work at all
I have a javascript adding new options to a drop down select menu getting the information from the database.[code]...
I want one of them to be added as selected. I will put an "if" check and if it the value of the option and the value in the database is equal I want that option to be added as "selected".
I was wondering what does the <Option Selected ...> in the drop down list mean? Does it mean that the indicated option is selected by default? I just wanted to confirm cause even if I remove the "Selected", it still shows the same option on loading...(assume selected is for Index of 0)
The page I am building has 4 columns on it and I want the selected value ofa drop down list box to control the number of columns that appear on the page.
<select id="price"> <option value="">Please select</option> <!-- show this if volvo --> <optgroup id="vol"> <option value="30000">30000</option> <option value="31000">31000</option> </optgroup> <!-- show this if audi --> <optgroup id="aud"> <option value="40000">40000</option> <option value="41000">41000</option> </optgroup> </select>
I have a html form with two drop down menu's. Now what i need is if some one selects a certain option in the first drop down menu then it will show the second one, Otherwise it stays hidden.
I have a drop down with approx. 200 <option> elements, each option element has a value such as value="1", value="23", etc. Given a list of values, such as 5, 34, 43, 68, 123, how can pass those values to a function and then insert selected for each corresponding element?
cna anyone tell me how to use the Select = "selected" option for a simple dropdown. for example when someone chooses c it will have a code like <option selected="">c</option> (am I doing it right, well if you got a firebug some site with dropdowns offers that option) so can anyone tell me how that works. I will be using it for a purpose of just selecting parts on my array, well incorporating it
If i have a drop down list on my website, and i want to use javascript to change its selected value, however, i do not have the id/name attribute of the option i want to select, only have the "value" attribute of the option, can it be done?
There is a drop down list on my Web page with various values to be selected by the user. Once the user has selected a value, he/she clicks on the submit button. When he/she does that I would like 2 things to happen: the selected value of the drop down list is passed to another html page which opens in a new brower window open.
I am maintaining a site which is written in ASP. Now i have to create some new pages.
In one page we have a table with many rows. Now, I want to enable or disable(showing and hiding also) 2 rows of this table depending upon the value selected by the user from a drop down list.
What I'm currently doing is returning a list of images in a directory via a form list. I'm an asp guy so vbscript is the way I'm doing this:
<select name="image" size="10" onChange="generateimage(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value)" align=left> <% Dim FSO Dim Files Dim File Dim Count Set FSO = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set Files = FSO.GetFolder(Server.MapPath("./moms_images/")).Files Set FSO = Nothing Count = 0 For Each File In Files Select Case LCase(Right(File.Name, 3)) Case "jpg", "gif", "bmp", "png"
End Select Next Set File = Nothing Set Files = Nothing %> </select>
What I *hope* to be able to do is allow a file upload (also vbscript) from a pop-up window and, when the upload is complete, refresh the list (above) without reloading the page (AJAX fever, methinks)
The only thing that would make it even cooler would be to auto-select / display the newest upload otf (I use dhtml to display the images on-select ala dynamicdrives example).
I realize this is a fairly tall order, but would be greatful for any pointers or weblinks for this js-challenged soul to use to get started.
I have a form that uses jeditable to edit-in-place several fields and select boxes. Everything is working great. Now I need to a way to add a new option to the select list. What I would like is the user select "Add New..." from the select list that would pop-up a dialog window where several fields are filled in. When the form is saved the select field is updated with the new ID and description. I use Facebox for pop-up windows to display notes when the user clicks on a topic. I know Facebox can be used to display a form. It would be ideal to use this ability when creating a new option for the select box.
I have an select option list, each option has a numerical id, value and text. Each option has an array of its own. So when I choose an option from this list, I want to insert the options array into another option list with an id, value and text. Whats the best way of doing this? How do I select an array based on the value or text of a select option? For for example, take a list of car makes. If I choose the make Audi, how do I select the array of Audi models and insert these models into another select option list. All makes and models have their own numerical id, value and text.
I am trying to make a form that collects "Number of Children" a parent has. If they select "4" from the select input, then I want to slidetoggle out the appropriate divs, one for each child.
[Code]...
I have been able to use slidetoggle in the past when attached to a button, but this one has me lost. Anyone know how to accomplish this?
