What I am trying is to get the text from the alt attribute to change the <P> after the image.
I've tried:

$('#pcaption').html(this.children.alt);
And I still can't get the alt text from the image tag. I want to have images with an URL, but I need them to have descriptions (that's why the ALT in each image).
I'm having an issue with adding hyperlinks on images. Please see example below. Without hyperlink on images. [URL]. With hyperlink on images. [URL]. Why the descriptions under the images have disappeared with the hyperlinks on the images?
I have 2 lists on a page and I have a link set up to remove an li item from the one list. I need to check to see if there is a copy of that item in the other list based off an attribute in my li item called qid. How would I look for a child list item based off this custom attribute? Assuming I have html like the following and I want to get the one where qid=14.
I have noticed that when you set the src attribute of an img via script, (instead of hard-coding in the img tag), although it caches the images, if you leave the site and return, the browser has to re-cache the images. Is that just the way it is, or is there a way to not lose the cache?
i know that the background attribut on table is not official but you can still use it and it will load an image as a background but i have an already coded site wich uses this background tag and a preload image js function wont work correctly, is there an solution to this?, right now i only see changing the code of the page(it's a damn nasty table based code)
In the doucmentation I'm reading that images in the same gallery need to have the same rel attribute value. But when I do that only the loading animated gif will show on top of the overlay. If I take out the rel then each image will display in a single thickbox. How can I get a gallery of images to display in the thickbox?
I am working on a form inside my administration console to upload images with PHP. In my form I have the following:

The onchange submits the form to a seperate PHP file (sent in the action of the form) dedicated to handling the uploading of the images, while the submit button(not shown in code) will submit the rest of the form through ajax. In order to use 1 file field, Ive read that to get an ajax looking effect I need to use an iframe, so I added the IFrame into the HTML and got the effect working right (without actually uploading the files.)
Now I want to limit the ammount of images to 8. Which is where the hidden field came in. So i've got to figure out a way to count the successful uploads, or add them as we go. At which time that number turns to 8, the script will disable the file field from anymore uploads. Problem is I have no clue where I need to go within my php file to make this happen. what i would like to do is instead of using "li:first" and "li:last", i would like to use first-child and last-child so the element doesn't need to be a li, in can be anything that is the direct child of the parent container.
i have found a possible bug in 1.4 but it's only in Internet Explorer 7 & 8.The following code does not work and completely ruins every peice of jquery on the page (that means everything inside $(document).ready and anyting else...
I cant see any syntax errors - i pulled the example from the 1.4 site. There is no trailing commas in the object notation and i really cant see any reason it would work in firefox and not IEx and more to the point not only not work in IEx but break any other jquery in the entire page....
I'm working with a large (and unweildy) ASP.NET application, and there is a lot of jQuery code that uses selectors like this:
[name=_aspnetControl$_withASubControl] And unfortunately, some selectors that also look like this:
[name^=_someAspNetControl$_radioButtonList].
In other words, the effort to remove the $ from the attribute selectors would be monumental. If it is possible to escape the $ symbols, I can do that easily enough, but unfortunately the situation right now means that I can't upgrade to jQuery 1.5.

I have a difficult work around Jquery. I want to remove all li items from the ul except first li and last three li how to remove the li elements from these list.
I have created parent child checkboxes. When one child is selected, then parent of that child, other child of same name and parent of that same name's child will be selected... Now I want if I unchecked any child, then only same name of child and parents should be unchecked or if I unchecked Parent Child, then same name of parent and child will be unchecked.
I'll trying to tell the difference between the following three cases:

I can do this in Firefox with the following code, where elem is the HTMLElement representing each image, but IE doesn't seem to differentiate between empty string and undefined.

This pops up a new window with every call. In the child window I call a parent function onbeforeunload, appClose() :

The window.opener.CloseChild() function is called perfectly when I have one child window open, but as soon as I create another child window both of the open child windows don't ever call it. They do both go into the onbeforeunload appClose() function, but do not call the window.opener.CloseChild() function inside of this routine.
Anyone have any ideas why when I have two child windows open I can't access the window.opener functions?

I have to do a slideshow with images of different widths... am using cycle plugin, which I like very much... I have a little test slideshow here, http:[url]....it's not centering imgs in containing div (I made div width of widest image.. this will work for my situation, in which imgs will be hard-coded..)if you inspect img element in firebug (#slideshow img), it shows that the plugin adds a style of position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px .to the img; why does the plugin do this.. how can I center the images in containing div...
Iīve just launch my website-portfolio, well itīs not yet the final version but it is almost and despite I am satisfied with the final result Iīve detected a really strange bug that only happens sometimes. The thing is when the first introduction Slide appears (the one with the hand-made drawings), sometimes the images shrink from the normal size to small tiny images. This doesnīt happen always and if you refresh the page it disappears.

I prefer jQuery over flash and not sure how to tackle this, so please advise as best you can. Trying to create a site that allows for images to go full browser and then have the ability to have the other images slide in based on a click.
I also want to float a menu that will allow it to pull in other media (video, that would slide in the same way).
