I've made a web based tool that times how long a web page takes to load in an iframe and today I redesigned it but now it has issues. When I load it in Chrome and Opera the new version works fine but in FF 3.6 and IE 8 only the footer area is displayed. I have added the links below - You'll be able to access the code via your browser's "View page Source" option.

Old test (Works perfectly): [URL]

Here's my issue, hoping someone can help. I have a page with 5 roundabouts on it showing pictures depending on a button click. Buttons would look like:
DOGS CATS BIRDS FISH REPTILES
So if you click Dogs, I want it to hide the roundabout for Cats, Birds, Fish, and Reptiles but show Dogs. This works perfectly in FF, Chrome, IE8, IE7, but if I view in compatibility mode or with an IE6/7 browser, all 5 roundabouts show and even if I hit the buttons, which fire the show/hide code, nothing gets hidden. Here's some code, I'm hoping someone has a tip on where I am going wrong in getting this simple show/hide of a div.
[Code]...

I'm having a heck of a problem with some jQuery. The key issue is that I can't change the structure of the HTML. The items hide/show just fine in Firefox, but in Chrome they're buggy.
The "home-teaser" pops under the "home-thumbnail" div. I suspect it has to do with how I hide all the "home-teaser" first and then show the one I want.
Code:
<div class="view-content">
<div class="views-row views-row-1 views-row-odd views-row-first">
<div class="home-thumbnail"><img /></div>
<div class="home-teaser"></div>
[Code]....

I am building a simple show/hide list with the jquery. It works great on IE and Firefox but in Chrome and Safari the closing menuitems shift the whole menu to the left for a second and then back to its origin. I have about 20 menuitems that each hold about 5 submenu items. The goal is to show the 5 items only on mouseover on the menuitems and then hide it once the mouse moves away.
Here is the code:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
//Hide all subsubmenus
$(".subcategories").css("display","none");
});
</script>
<li><a href="/kleinanzeige-aufgeben/geschenke.htm" onmouseover=" $
('.subcategories:not(#86)').hide('fast');$('#86').show('fast');"
title="Geschenke">Geschenke</a></li>

There is a long thread about this in the posiiton() reference page, but I am not finding a thread here in the forums, let alone a solution. I have some code that is trying to do calculations on the left and top attribute of child DOM elements. So, I have 5 divs (floated left, with width and height assigned), contained in another div. If I iterate over the 5 divs and call either position(), offset() or even css('left'), they always return 0. I have tried setting margin: 0px as well, but same result.

The following script works in all web browsers fine, just not IE6. It also has to work in IE6 so ignoring it isn't an option. Javascript is below:
<SCRIPT START>
$(document).ready(function() {
// hides the slickbox as soon as the DOM is ready
$('#div1').hide();
$('#close').hide();
// shows the slickbox on clicking the noted link
$('#open').click(function() {
$('#div1').fadeIn('slow');
$('#close').fadeIn();
$('#open').fadeOut();
return false;
});
// hides the slickbox on clicking the noted link
$('#close').click(function() {
$('#div1').fadeOut('fast');
$('#close').fadeOut();
$('#open').fadeIn();
return false;
});
// toggles the slickbox on clicking the noted link
$('#slick-toggle').click(function() {
$('#div1').toggle(400);
return false;
});
document.getElementById("loading").className = "loading-visible";
var hideDiv = function(){document.getElementById("loading").className = "loading-invisible";};
var oldLoad = window.onload;
var newLoad = oldLoad ? function(){hideDiv.call(this);oldLoad.call(this);} : hideDiv;
window.onload = newLoad;
});
<SCRIPT END>

I am pretty new to Javascript having a bit of a problem with a website with Google Maps integrated. URL I have two checkboxes (ccCheck and caccCheck). The basis is when the box is ticked, it overlays a KML onto the map. This is working fine in Chrome, but in FF and IE it doesn't work, IE returns 'ccCheck is Undefined'. The code I am using is in the JS file, the bit it gets stuck at is as follows:
[Code]...
If I stick a ccCheck = document.getElementById('ccCheck') within the onclick function (before the if statement), it places the overlay onto the map, but then when I untick the box it just stays there. It's such a simple thing (I think), and must be down to IE being pedantic about declaring the variable properly, the question is how should I be doing this?

I have a simple FAQ show/hide function set up however I am having trouble setting up an if clause. My code is:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("dd").hide();
$("dt").click(function(){
$("dd").hide('slow');
$(this).next().slideToggle();
});
});
However, when you click on the same item twice it firstly hides and then reshows it, I need an if statement that basically states;
if "this?!" is visible/shown
Then do nothing
else
$("dd").hide('slow');
$(this).next().slideToggle();
I am unsure of the syntax and can't figure out what property I can trace out to see if the item is being shown or not.

I am trying to create a simple splash page.
I have 2 divs on the page, div1 has a gif animation in it and div2 is the page content. I want to hide div2 and only show div1 which plays the gif, then after some time div1 fades away and div2 fades up to show the page content.
This is my thought process:
1) On doc ready, hide div2
2) after 3000 fade div1 out
3) fade div2 in
$(document).ready (function(){
$('#div2')hide();
but I dont know how to fade out the div after a time and fade in the other div.
The examples I see all use the click function.

I recently learned that the <option> tags can not use the onclick attribute inside of IE.This works great for firefox, but sadly not a single version of internet explorer supports it (from what I am told via countless Google searches).I have been modifying my attempit at a solution to use the <select> tag with the attribute onchange. Maybe I am casing this wrong, or not seeing a solution as the below code does not operate in any browser, and no errors are reported back through firebug or IE.Excuse my sloopy attempt at {smarty tags} this script is written in a bunch of PHP object->vales and to save space cored the issue down to it's basics.On change of the select box, the value="5-28" is sent to javascript showBox to split the number away from the id_trips and only focus on the locations (the number before the '-' . IF the location matches the switch value then the box should show / hide or value change. The IDs are all correct I just think that there is a ' or a " or something off as I am not a javascript expert.
my SQL return values
<code class="php">
//PHP VARIABLES from QUERY sample loop 1
