JQuery :: Firefox Not Recognizing Parameters Sent By Ajax?
Mar 26, 2010
I have an Ajax script which works fine in IE, Opera, etc, but not in FF 3.6. It appears the data sent is not recognized. My debug alert to display a simple variable sent is blank. In other browsers it displays fine. I'm developing on my PC so shouldn't have the cross domain issue, I don't think?
Here is the code
function ajaxRequest() {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'WTE_HTTP_Submit.cfm',
[Code]....

I am implementing Ajax for a new website and I've run into a hurdle.
It seems like Javascript does not 'see' any div elements that are loaded from external file with Ajax.
Is this a common issue, and is there a solution? Or am I overlooking something obvious?
What I'm doing is loading a simple external page via Ajax. The pages loads just fine, and it contains div's with unique id's. If I execute a Javascript function, it seems to not recognize these newly-rendered div's from the Ajax external file. Is this the case? Can Javascript be re-invoked on command, so it can see the new div's?

I have two forms: register and contact, with action attribute that looks like this:
REGISTER.PHP AND CONTACT.PHP FORMS
<form id="myform" action="submit.php?url=register">
and
<form id="myform" action="submit.php?url=contact">
I would like the jquery ajax function to redirect to the above url parameters so that the forms can get processed in their individual functions.
The SUBMIT.PHP page looks like this:
$url = '';
if (isset($_GET['url'])){
$url = strip_tags($_GET['url']);}
if($url=='register'){

I am passing parameters from one page (actually from a frame within a frameset) to another using Javascript. Typically the code is as follows, taking values from a Form.
parent.titleFrame.location="frm_right_demo_title.html?MyDateEvent.value='"+ytt+
"'&MyParam_spec.value='"+parent.mainFrame.document.forms.myForm.MyParam_spec.value+"'";
This has worked fine in all browsers including IE, Chrome and Firefox version 2.0.0.2.
However, I have now found that it doesn't work with Firefox version 3.6.12.
This is because when retrieving the parameters in the new loaded page, the character ' (quote) has been converted to %27 (percent twenty seven).
I can write code to replace %27 with the quote character. However, this is lengthy and time-consuming (as I need to have cyclic code as the javascript replace command seems to work only on the first occurrence within a string).

JQuery seems to be giving an error when trying to pass an alphanumeric parameter like so:
[Code]...
when the above method is called, the error callback is called. However when I change the eventID parameter to a purely numeric value, it works fine and the success callback is called. I would like to pass an alphanumeric value to a server method and this doesnt seem to work.

I'm trying to pass parameters using the jquery's ajax function, but I end up with a "function undefined" error message when I try.
I had trouble finding simple examples of ajax passing parameters with jquery.

I cannot get ajaxSend [URL] to properly modify the parameters to include a random timestamp and, for IE's sake, a _method=value pair. I have:
$
(
document
).
ajaxSend
[Code]....
how can I make sure that what gets sent across the wire is the value I set settings.data to in my ajaxSend() method?

I have added an event listener to a LI item in the DOM:
liNode.addEventListener("mouseover", mouseOn, true);
The mouseOn function:
function mouseOn(e) {
// Test for IE or Firefox
var e = (!e)?window.event:e;
var yPos;
[Code]...
I would like to pass in another parameter to the mouseOn function in addition to the event that is passed in automatically. Is there a way to do this?

I like the looks of the validation engine plugin, but I can't figure out one thing... For a particular form field, I need to use an Ajax service to validate the data. I have to pass the value of the text input, of course, but I also need to pass a couple of other key=value pairs along with it. In the file with the selectors there's the option to add extraData (like extraData="name=eric") but I need to set these parameters based on some dynamic info.Is there a way to pass extra information to the ajax service?

i'm new to ajax. simple request no problem - but it seems when I set
the response handler function, I can only pass the function name and
not give parameters, so I have a problem when starting e.g. 5 ajax
requests parallele. how to do that correctly? for one case, where I
used *different* resp. handlers, I solved the problem by global
variables - but now I have a loop of e.g. 20 calls to the *same*
r.handler and I don*t know how to tell the function *which* request of
the 20 to use. I expect the solution to be simple but how..

This could appear under Ajax, for example, you could have multiple objects that make a singular ajax call (say an RPC-like request) and you need to update the object that made the call during the callback with the result, but it doesn't have to be. The particular problem I'm thinking about happens to be ajax, particularly with multiple objects accessing the same ajax request (meaning I can't use a global or temporary variable).
One way that seems like it would work (just thinking about it in my head), is to create a hash, and to pass the key through the request, store the key in the response, and pick it up on the callback side. Then remove the item from the hash when done.

I'm trying to write a cinema seat selection page and I'm hitting a problem with a selector not recognising a 'booked' class that I've just been added via JSON. I wonder if anyone could tell me why it works ok when I hard code the 'booked' class in but not when I do it through jQuery. Should I just do it in PHP??? or is there a way around the problem.

I'm having an issue in firefox. Here's my ajax call:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "newcoleng",
data: "F10=Yes&F11=No",
success: function(data){
alert( "Data Saved: " + data );
}
});
The post always comes back a success in both IE and Firefox. The html response comes back as expected when using IE. However, the html response when using Firefox brings back an error from the server instead of what is expected. I'm not sure why there is a difference when using Firefox. My guess is that the content-type that the server is expecting is not correct when using Firefox.

I want to know if how a javascript can recognize the name of a picture. Let say i have two pictures.
Picture A. name is "bubble.jpg"
...then
Picture B. name is "duck.jpg"
When i hover the mouse using the onmouseover() function on one of the picture. The javascript should smart enough to recognize the name of the picture and display the name of that picture. Is this possible?
