This is driving me nuts. I'm using the File Upload. It works fine in Chrome, but in FF4 and IE9 it executes the beforeSubmit, but never reaches the success, and the file never reaches the server.

I implemented Malsups jquery form and use it for ajax file uploads. Works fine in FF, but in IE as soon as the ajax has completed the upload IE gives me a File Download box - Security warning. If I click on save it save thereturnedJson object (I do JS call onsuccessto get a file list and display it). If I click cancel or save on the popup has same effect the file still gets uploaded but just looks ugly.
How can I get rid of this? All coming form the same domain, calling from the same domain. This is on a python django project and I am testing it on the dev server.
Its pretty basic jquery nothing to exciting, don't get why IE would cause.
I have a problem with the latest version of the jQuery Form Plugin (2.80). To be more precise, I guess I am doing something wrong, and with an older version (2.67) somehow it didn't matter.With the old version, the file was uploaded without problems. Now Firefox opens a new Tab on clicking the submit button and nothing is done. Chrome doesn't open a new tab, but also nothing happens. In Wireshark I can see that there is no file attached in the POST message with the older version, the file was sent.My first guess was that my file handling on the server side is erroneous - but on the other hand, when there is no file attached, what should I handle there?

When doing some simple tests I have run into a problem and I believe it is due to the way this plugin handles JSON responses. My form :

This does not result in the success event firing but rather the error event. In the plugin documentation it states that it does not handle json responses well and that it recommends wrapping the response in a textarea. Unfortunatly I'm not sure what they mean by that, and what I've tried so far has not worked. ould anyone give me some advice as to how to output the response in JSON properly? Could anyone that has used this plugin for AJAX file uploads offer any advice on doing so?

We're having issues in IE7 where, on a form with file upload, form fields are being dropped before the form is submitted to the server.We tracked it down to the `fileUpload` function, specifically line 196 where each field in the form data has `.attr('disabled',false)` run against it. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having troubles with an existing J2EE application (which uses Dojo) and in which I'm gradually introducing jQuery. The specific issue is with the malsup Form plugin and the JSON returned from a form submission: the error callback is always called, regardless of what happens on the server side, and the error is always "parsererror". I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 and the 2.45 version of the malsup Form plugin.
For example, given the following code:

the server receives the submission and handles it without errors, then in the browser I always get the same alert from the processAddressEditSubmitError() function, with an "Invalid JSON" message:

Malsup's most excellent and comprehensive Form plugin has me completely stuck on just one thing.Take a look at this: http:[url]....At the bottom are a variety of submit buttons, and when you click one, it knows which one has been clicked.And I've been through the js and the source and the examples and I can't figure out how the bleep it's done!I'll tell you why I'm asking, then perhaps you can probably tell me I'm doing it wrong anyway!Let's say a blind person logs in, and want to edit their presets.I don't want the form to be too complex or clever or ajaxy, as screenreaders don't like that, so it just iterates through as many presets as they have, and populates a form with edit boxes.But there's no point "pushing back" 29 unchanged items just to edit one row.
So my idea was I'd just "fieldSerialize()" the details of the row that was currently being edited and submit that to my little php routine that updates the db. Then they can do a refresh just to hear the list again.The js looks like:

I'm fairly positive my code is correct because in IE8 the success function is being called and the background of the boxes are turning green. In IE7 however, The submit function is definitely working as the file is uploaded to the correct place, but the success function is not being called/fired. Any ideas as to why this might be? Do IE7 and IE8 handle this that differently? The function in the success call is just changing a checkbox and combo box background colors to green.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom the little I've read in this plugin's source code, ajaxSubmit() switches to "iframe mode" whenever it detects a file link in the form. The file is uploaded fine, but the server, which normally replies with different content. based on HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH header, fails to do its thing. This header is normally set to "XMLHttpRequest" on normal jQuery .ajax() calls.
The server I'm running is on rails, and I'm using the "request.xhr?" test.
I admit I'm not too familiar with iframes (or jQuery, for that matter:), but surely there must be a way to get around this, so that this can act as a simple drop-in replacement. Should I be looking at other headers, like "Accepts" or the kind, or should the plugin (or my code) be forcing the HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH header?
