Is there a way that I can limit the total char between the two textareas i.e. If a user enters 180 in the first one they can only enter 120 in the second one.
I have a website with an admin area for my clients. The input text is then inserted in a page on their website - inside a <p> tag. What I'm trying to do is locate a script that would allow them to use such tags as <b>, <i>, <u>, but not others like <p>, <div>, etc. Does someone know of such a script?

I am writing a function to 'expand' common postal address suffixes, such as "RD" to "ROAD", etc.
A suffix must be prefixed by a ' ' (space) character and preceded by either a ' ' (space), '.' (period), ',' (comma), '/n' (line break), OR be at the end of the TEXTAREA box.

I have a text area in one of my forms that I want to control the character size of. In short, I want to keep the text area to 10,000 characters.
What I Have Found: I have found a number of scripts that will control the character length of the text area, while you are typing.
The Problem: If you cut and paste a document that contains 15,000 characters into the text area that is limited to 10,000 characters, it will still take all of the information (i.e. the 15,000 characters), as opposed to limiting/cutting it off.
Does anyone know of a script that will control the overall character length whether it be inserted via key stroke or is copy and pasted into the text area? Or possibly point me in the right direction?
There are lots of javascript textarea counters/limiters out there but what I need is a counter that counts and displays the number of characters being typed, the current page number (i.e. say 160 characters make a page), and probably the number of characters left per page. No limit to number of characters typed, just count characters and pages and displays them.

I would like the font color of the text to be green as the user types and any text beyond 160 characters to be red. I am trying to use Accordion Content script v1.7 from DynamicDrive.com on some pages. I have set up a test page to show the error messages. I have changed the doctype of the page several times, including the exact one they use on the sample/instruction page on DD, but no luck. It is also throwing an error of undefined var ddaccordion, which is defined in ddaccordion.js, which is the JS file that goes with sample page , which is located in the same directory.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have an input textbox that I am using to create (and populate) paragraph tags below it depending on the content that is in the textbox at that very specific time. There is an add button to the right of the textbox that adds the contents and clears it for another entry.
The reason I need keyup for this is because I need to get the value of the textbox on the fly. With the example I've enclosed, it seems to output every key event since page load, and I don't want that. I want the result from the last keypress, which I will then add and start again.

I use this code to create a div element with inside a text and a button, for than adding this div in a cell of the jquery grid. Everything works fine with firefox and IE instead in chrome I found out with alerts that only the click of the button is added, the other handlers like change and keyup NO or are not triggered.

I'm doing some customisation on existing software - my objective was to reflect changes to a form in a separate table.The forms require the user to enter numbers and these are totalled in the final formfieldvia an existing 'onkeyup' function.I used keyup to copy the value typed and add it to the summary table. However in doing this, the existing 'onkeyup' function written into the form no longer works and so the total is no longer displayed. I tried using keypress instead (which still had the same issue), or including the function from the onkeyup in my keyup function, but it just didn't run.how to work around this? I can't modify the existing code.
